Guardian article on POW Scandal, by Deleted on Sept 25, 2007 7:59:04 GMT 1, crickey indeed. thanks for posting the artice. i missed whatever was written in the newspaper. it mentions someone who left to set up there own printhouse. the only one that i know of is Stelladore. i guess his tounge would be tied over this because of investigation. all the talk of backdoor prints seem to be with good reason. interesting to see how this unfolds. no doubt this is why mr Banks hasnt released any prints for ages.

Guardian article on POW Scandal, by jmcy9999 on Sept 25, 2007 8:39:33 GMT 1, How glad am I that I never splurged on ebay Banksys and only own one direct from POW in 2005. We all knew someone / some people were inflating the prices, but for the shill bidding to come from people within POW is un-fucking believable.

Explanations need to be given and soon. Fortunately it doesn't effect me but some people will be very upset. Maybe from now Banksy will sell through Laz, and then everybody loses.

Guardian article on POW Scandal, by Macdeee on Sept 25, 2007 8:48:22 GMT 1, From that article it sounds as though two of the three people involved are still at POW. How does anyone know if the provenance from POW about an ebay deal is good?

According to this article: www.theartnewspaper.com/article01.asp?id=4566
They seller told the buyers to ask a specific person @pow about the authenticity. But since we don´t know who it just would be guessing?

Guardian article on POW Scandal, by BME on Sept 25, 2007 8:59:27 GMT 1, This is really serious. If POW provenance can't be trusted then there's little point in buying on ebay at all.
If there are only 25-100 fake prints out there then POW should guarantee full refunds to ebay buyers who have relied upon 'authentication' issued by POW staff members. I know it will cost a bit but not nearly as much as the loss of their reputation.

I have modified the earlier post. I'm sure the shit is hitting the fan for present and post employees of POW's and I don't want to add to it. I'm dying to know though, arn't you?

Guardian article on POW Scandal, by ®at on Sept 25, 2007 9:14:12 GMT 1, The cynic in me says that POW have made up some of this in order to crash prices....
"Banksy said: “They say it’s better to be a fake somebody than a real nobody, but I don’t think that applies to art prints. If it turns out that limited editions have not been limited in edition then I sincerely apologise. This is particularly unfortunate for the people who buy my work to flip it for a quick profit on eBay, as I wouldn’t want to affect their mark-up.” "
And it looks like mr 21st-century-tortoise is no longer an ebay user..... the plot thickens.
Either way, it takes the piss and shows them up as the jokers they really are.

Guardian article on POW Scandal, by psp500 on Sept 25, 2007 9:27:14 GMT 1, I have never had any personal contact with POW, except for two ghettos I went to. They were helpful there.
I've ordered ten prints through them - all great images, all well priced. Two damaged, five with wrong editions numbers, one unsigned, when supposed to be signed. All replaced. Longest wait two months. A solid printhouse with great images, not perhaps not the most professional service. IMHO

Guardian article on POW Scandal, by johnas on Sept 25, 2007 9:28:39 GMT 1, first thing i did when i got up this morning was check the arts newspaper site for this article. When I heard about the 'forthcoming' article last week, i was extremely interested to hear what it was about.
After reading the article this morning, I am truely amazed about these allegations. POW's integrity has got to be in shatters after this - i know a lot of people here are quite cynical, but claims that this is a PR exercise are just crazy! POW have long been the leading print house in this 'scene' but these allegations have surely got to leave whatever reputation they have in tatters. If these allegations are true and key members of staff are aware of what was happening, then their actions are despicable, underhand and a right royal "F You". It appears this has been done for no other reason than to cash in and take advantage.
As for repercussions, well, lets see what the POW investigation uncovers, but if proved right, would you feel comfortable buying from them in the future?

Guardian article on POW Scandal, by Deleted on Sept 25, 2007 9:33:59 GMT 1, the article talks about signed, stamped but unnumbered prints. i dont think there should be a mass panic, i think anyone that has bought one of the prints that have been described in that way should know that they may be buying a back door print. its been talked about on here lots of times(at least 25 probably).
