Faile Site Update, by pezlow on Nov 12, 2007 17:01:41 GMT 1, Have you entered everything (in the hopes of getting something), or just the one(s) that you want?
Why would you enter a lottery for something you didn't want?

As a means of having a trade chip for the one that you do want (?)
I've personally only entered for the ones that I want. Of course, they tend to be the most expensive pieces, but still. ;D

Faile Site Update, by ambrosiabaptism on Nov 12, 2007 17:05:39 GMT 1, Haven't enter for anything... yet
After last release I found that over time I grew to appreciate prints I didn't get so I'm taking my time on this one.
As its a lottery though the chances are slimmer so do I go for items I don't want in order to swap them for ones I do
The correct answer is if we all go for just the pieces we want and can afford then we all have a greater chance of getting our joy ;D
...but that won't happen - queue flipper rant !

Faile Site Update, by manchestermike on Nov 12, 2007 17:08:39 GMT 1, I've decided this 'lottery' bollocks is just that... Utter bollocks First time I've really wanted a Faile, and I mean REALLY too and I've got about a 1 in 10000 chance of getting the f**king thing. Bring back proper releases imo It would already be gone to someone else and then you'd be throwing a fit. At least you still have a chance and a bit of hope.
Sorry that's untrue. If I'd have missed out on it as someone else was quicker then fine, I've no issue with that... good on who was quicker...
This way is utterly stupid, and you or whoever negged me for saying that before can do so again.
Right, they've tried this way now, can we have a proper release next time please Faile.

Faile Site Update, by ambrosiabaptism on Nov 12, 2007 17:20:05 GMT 1, Just had a thought
These are originals 1 of 1. So if they end up been flipped then it would be very easy for Faile to identify who it was and ban them.!!! Of course telling all the other studios who the flea bag is as well so they can do the same ;D

Faile Site Update, by wlsp4657 on Nov 12, 2007 17:25:19 GMT 1, How many people do yous guys think are entering each lottery? It must be thousands..
Also, faile dont seem to have any problem with people flipping their work. They seem more then happy to offer provenance to anyone who needs it and why else what you need it besides flipping.

I totally agree, you probably have less chance of getting a faile, with this system then any of the previous releases. Wait till the outcome and see how many on this forum have been successful! Just think the flippers/galleries etc will out number the collectors 50:1 and with having a large time frame to register, they will have even more time to think up ways to get more entries in the queue. A collector would not take this risk and will end up being at even more of a disadvantage!! I welcome new ideas and how they're trying to make it fair, but sadly I can't see this working!!

Faile Site Update, by Gentle Mental on Nov 12, 2007 17:27:19 GMT 1, YEAH! Giving everyone around the world an equal chance of scoring is totally unfair.
it should be about speed and bandwidth, and how many PCs, hacks, little brothers and sisters etc you have at the time of release, clicking F5 continuously for 36 hours straight... and buying whatever that pops up without even having a proper look... YEAH! feel the rush!

My point exactly... probably more eloquently made
My main point is thus... There was NOTHING in the last release I wanted, so I didn't try and buy ANYTHING (although ironically I love the free print!). BUT if I wanted to buy something I had a CHANCE... with this lottery method I have next to NO CHANCE... from about a maybe 1 in 10 chance if I was quick enough off the mark, I've now got a 1 in 10000 chance
It ain't right

Faile Site Update, by Gentle Mental on Nov 12, 2007 17:29:53 GMT 1, the reality is there will always be hundreds of flippers... and they'll do all they can... chance of scoring an original either way is approx the same...

No it's not over...
Do you not understand the point that this way gives the galleries/flippers/thier partners/their mothers more chance of getting it than the fan.
Fans of Faile would have known a release is today and planned for it. Just like we knew POW were going to release Trolleys when they did...
First come, first served... not 8592nd served because their son told them to register to give them an extra chance in the lottery...

Faile Site Update, by wimpy on Nov 12, 2007 17:34:22 GMT 1, One thing to consider is that all of us have the luxury of being members of this board. I think there are plenty of fans who miss opportunities to buy stuff because either a) they're not aware of this forum or b) don't have the time. Should they be penalized? I think most of us on the forum are biased because we've grown accustomed to getting stuff because we know the system. For what it's worth, I think this is good because it will bring new fans and collectors into the community. Which in turn will help promote the street art "scene" and be better for us all in the long term. I received a bunch of PMs but am busy monitoring the site. Will respond to messages soon.
Yep... seems the haters are the ones who are jaded old cranky members that already have the massive collections and were used to shopping rather easily in the past.
Good luck to everyone in the lotto.

Faile Site Update, by pezlow on Nov 12, 2007 17:42:54 GMT 1, Mike - why are you so after the original of that image and not the print? The print is, IMHO, just as good and will have just the same amount of faile love on it. Faile prints aren't really prints at all - and the distinction between prints and the originals on paper is very limited.

I'm quite happy not owning any so far, as apart from a couple that I saw in a cafรฉ in Manchester a few years ago that were huge B/W ones none have really tickled my pickle, some I've thought were ok, others I've downright disliked... Until this one...which is amazing

Faile Site Update, by finsburyparkranger on Nov 12, 2007 17:45:12 GMT 1, I'm tempted to agree with you mike in some repects. The old ways in my mind was a better solution. Now everyone will hassle their family to register, bigger family's, bigger chances. When that happens the news quickly spreads on to the money saving web sites, where people club together to share info on good deals, just to sell. I really like the idea but not sure its actually going to find more loving homes than the tried and tested methods.
Maybe a two hour sign up would be preferable to 5 days.

Faile Site Update, by pturner on Nov 12, 2007 17:49:27 GMT 1, guys on the rules it says
You may only enter the lottery once for each piece. And it will be a one piece per person lottery.
does the second sentence mean you can only enter for one piece or you can only win one piece?
i thought someone may have already done their entry and may know if it allows for multiple pieces?

The colours on the original... with the yellow underneath it just pops out, it looks right... everything about it... plus the size of it. I'm sure the prints are lovely, but it's the original that shouts to me
