Faile Site Update, by Dellboyy on Nov 13, 2007 11:28:56 GMT 1, There wouldn't be a lottery if there weren't flippers flipping and Faile prices wouldn't be so high
I'm not sure on that, if everyone kept the faile prints they bought and there were none on the resale market imagine the demand this would put on faile for new work.
Obviously the second hand market has some effect, but i think it's mainly the fact people like faile's work that causes demand and price rises both from faile and the ebay market!

I find it amusing that theres so many comments on how they're "trying something new to be fair", "trying to deter flippers" etc etc
fact: the only reason they're doing the lottery is because they only accept paypal and because they have no real time cart, its the only viable option against the "refund" problem.

Faile Site Update, by dime683 on Nov 13, 2007 17:20:48 GMT 1, i really dont think the prices are that high. one they are originals or very small editions. people have no problem shelling out $900 or $1000 for a banksys that an edition of 150 or 750. i would much rather drop a few hundred more dollars for something thats more unique. and if they are too high don't bother trying to get one then. the ebay prices from the last release were not much more then the faile prices. seems faile is spot.

Faile Site Update, by robinbanks on Nov 16, 2007 9:33:16 GMT 1, "The lottery will randomly generate a "winner / winners" and those people will be notified through the email entered in the lottery site on Nov. 20th."
I didn't think we'd find out until Tuesday?
So does that mean no news is good news??
The excitement builds!!!

Faile Site Update, by Vsix on Nov 16, 2007 11:36:57 GMT 1, Sorry that's untrue. If I'd have missed out on it as someone else was quicker then fine, I've no issue with that... good on who was quicker... This way is utterly stupid, and you or whoever negged me for saying that before can do so again. Right, they've tried this way now, can we have a proper release next time please Faile. I totally agree, you probably have less chance of getting a faile, with this system then any of the previous releases. Wait till the outcome and see how many on this forum have been successful! Just think the flippers/galleries etc will out number the collectors 50:1 and with having a large time frame to register, they will have even more time to think up ways to get more entries in the queue. A collector would not take this risk and will end up being at even more of a disadvantage!! I welcome new ideas and how they're trying to make it fair, but sadly I can't see this working!!
How many people on this forum actually got one, I wonder if the old system was more successful for forum members! I'd guess the really resourceful flippers had multiple entries in the Q and we'll see how many end up on Ebay!

Faile Site Update, by holden on Nov 16, 2007 12:42:29 GMT 1, IMO one of the good things with this release is you know whether you won or not, know it was fair and apart from maybe not getting one there's no b*tching about all the peripheral cr*p I have read so, so much about with other releases of late. I guess the true success of this method is how many will turn up on the bay?

Using high Banksy prices to justify high prices on other things? That can be dangerous.
Prices on these are steep. My problem with paying $3000 for a 12 inch "orignal" is that although unique many of the originals look really similar to the "prints" as they all use the same mixed up imagery. These originals were small and boring in my opinon. If you lost out buy something else Or put money in the bank

Thats kinda the whole point. Re-using an image over and over with slight variation to alter its meaning from what was it original intended. Kinda like that guy,s**t whats his name? Oh yea Andy Warhol.

Faile Site Update, by ricosg11 on Nov 16, 2007 14:32:46 GMT 1, for this release i will concur, but that has not been the case previously. I will say I think they intended that as their bigger work is in high demand and much more expensive.
