Faile Site Update, by manchestermike on Nov 12, 2007 17:50:15 GMT 1, guys on the rules it says You may only enter the lottery once for each piece. And it will be a one piece per person lottery. does the second sentence mean you can only enter for one piece or you can only win one piece? i thought someone may have already done their entry and may know if it allows for multiple pieces?
You can enter for as many pieces as you want... you can win one... if your name comes up more than once you can choose which one.

Faile Site Update, by pezlow on Nov 12, 2007 17:53:13 GMT 1, Greetings everyone,
Hope you are well and enjoying a lovely Fall or Spring wherever this may find you.
We have released a set of new works today on the Faile site.
You can find this here: faile.net/store/
The November release features mainly new originals on paper and a small set of new wooden boxes.
As many of you may know or will see on the site, we have switched to a lottery based system for this release. After the melee of the last release we were inclined to try something new. Many of you suggested this system, so we thought we'd give it a shot. It's an experiment. It may be great, it may have some problems but it's worth a try. Hopefully all will go smooth, we are working on this with a new site called FairQ.com. They have been really great, if you have any problems with the FairQ site please let them know and they will gladly assist you (links below). All the relevant information about the lottery is listed below. Please take a look over it. The first two paragraphs will give you the generalities and more detailed information follows.
There will be a new Faile print released through Pictures On Walls in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for that. We probably won't do another release through the Faile site until the second half of 2008, as we focus on some new projects for shows in the latter half of next year.
Thanks again to everyone for all your support. It's been an amazing year and we are really grateful.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and a great new year.
All the best, Faile
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ Rules of the Lottery:
If you have any problems with the FairQ site please contact: info@fairq.com.
The lottery will close on Friday Nov. 16th at 5pm (PST)(as if you lived in California).
The lottery will be limited to one piece per person. You are more than welcome to register for as many pieces as you like. You have all week to register so please feel free to take your time while browsing the new work. If you "win" more than one Q, you will be given the choice of which piece you'd like and another name will be randomly drawn for the other piece(s).
Please only enter the lottery if you are serious about the piece you are entering a Q for. You will be sent an email upon the closing of the Q informing you of the outcome. If you've won the Q, you will be emailed an invoice to both your PayPal and regular email address that you registered in the FairQ site. This email should be to you by Nov. 21st. You must have a PayPal account to join the Q.
To purchase a piece, you must register with FairQ (www.fairq.com) and join the relevant Q.ย In order to be eligible to purchase an original, you must meet the following requirements:
โข First and Last name โข An active Email address โข Confirmed PayPal account in good standing โข A phone number where we can contact you โข Confirmed shipping address ย You will be required to enter this information into your FairQ profile. To participate in the lottery, simply click on the URL under each piece to go to the relevant FairQ page.ย There, you can read all the details of the piece, create a profile, and participate in the lottery.
FairQ has some features that prevents people from entering multiple times, so please do not do this. You can register for as many lotteries as you want, but you can only purchase one piece.ย If you happen to win several lotteries, you must decide which one you want to purchase and we'll choose new winners for the other pieces.
Some more details about the lottery system:
โข It doesn't matter when you register on FairQ.ย Everyone has the same chance of winning.ย So please do not go to the FairQ site immediately as there is plenty of time to register(November 16th) โข FairQ will inform us if they suspect that there are people who create multiple profiles to increase their chances of winning.ย Please read their FAQ for more details. www.fairq.com/home/faq โข Once winners are chosen, we will send them PayPal invoices to complete payment. ย Technical Details:
โข After you register, you will be asked to confirm your account via email.ย Please wait up to 30 minutes to receive your confirmation email.ย If you do not receive your confirmation email, please try a different email address.ย We have been told that hotmail and a few other email services are blocking emails from FairQ as it is a new site.ย This should go away over time.ย The FairQ team has confirmed that most email services like Google Mail, Yahoo, and .mac addresses work fine. โข Please submit your questions about FairQ to info@fairq.com.ย ย We will not be answering any emails about using the site.
Also, please check out FairQ's blog at www.fairq.com/home/blog for the latest news on this sales event as they are making this their highest priority.

Faile Site Update, by Chuck D on Nov 12, 2007 18:05:40 GMT 1, The only thing I like about this system is that there isn't a mad panic to buy something just for the sake of owning a Faile. This way you have the liberty to marinate with these images and truly decide which ones tickle your pickle. You should spend some time with the art you're gonna spend thousands on.

Faile Site Update, by Pattycakes on Nov 12, 2007 18:08:14 GMT 1, I've looked through it and picked out 5 that I'd want to own so I've signed up for those ones, don't suppose I'll win any, but if I get lucky i'll be delighted. I don't see any point in signing up ofr one I don't want better to give someone else a shorter chance to get it in my opinion.

Good to see some good solid Faile though, less rocky than some of the more recent print releases, back on form.

Faile Site Update, by ambrosiabaptism on Nov 12, 2007 18:17:26 GMT 1, I'm tempted to agree with you mike in some repects. The old ways in my mind was a better solution. Now everyone will hassle their family to register, bigger family's, bigger chances. When that happens the news quickly spreads on to the money saving web sites, where people club together to share info on good deals, just to sell. I really like the idea but not sure its actually going to find more loving homes than the tried and tested methods. Maybe a two hour sign up would be preferable to 5 days.
yeah 1-2 hour sign up sounds good to me. enough time to view not enough to swamp it with fake accounts and bot technology short enough to get the rush of a bun fight ;D

Faile Site Update, by buster on Nov 12, 2007 18:20:42 GMT 1, Im abit of newbie to all this so excuse the stupid question, Whats the difference between the originals and the prints ? Exactly what is says on the can Lee, an original is a handpainted original piece by the artist, created by his / her own fair hand, a print is an authorised copy of an original, often limited to a certain number, either signed or unsigned... hope that helps

Faile Site Update, by nombei on Nov 12, 2007 18:21:36 GMT 1, i think it's cool that Faile is trying out this approach as there have been many times that i have not been in front of my computer when something got released (i guess i'm not privy to the insider info that the "true fans" seem to be).
so now instead of having 0 chance, i have a 1 in Something chance. though to be honest, i'm not going to go for any of these.

And out of the originals
A taste of Seduction Countdown to Faile archive and, Momento Mori archive
unfortunately <pulls lining of pockets out, unzips flies, thinks better of it, zips flies up, looks sad> I'm skint.
Unless I can sell a Kidney before the end of the week - looks like I'm out

Welcome to the world of Faile lee, the prints are still VERY limited ( 2 and 4 respectively, hand finnished with acrylic and a decent size for the momento mori 25/33in) With Faile prints are often as original as the originals...... any the prices for the originals are actually just alot cheaper than you would expect.

The good thing is each entry must have a unique corresponding paypal e-mail address and street address. So if you know others you want to sign up they're all going to have their own paypal address and live at a different address.
I'm pretty sure if they notice three entries from the same street address they'd get very suspicious, or even three or four people with the same last name from the same city and postal code would also tip them off. Then again, my entire family LOOOOOVES Faile, so there's nothing shady going on there with me
I think the system will work out fine personally, and let's say it ends up being a massive failure and all the originals end up on ebay in a month, I'd still say it was worth a shot to see what the results were going to be.

yeah so thats what ive always wondered... so if the prints are handfinished and all, whats the difference between that and an origial besides the edition run (one being ed of one, and the other being ed of 9 or something)
My Military Death and my Savage Dreams are pretty customised and hand touched up and ive not seen another savage dream or military death look exactly the same...
i would have thought the original had real RIPS and TEARS in the pasting of the pictures and the layering? No? I dont know... i dont own a faile original and i probably wont ever!
some of the originals are very small which makes them appear to be less expensive... the prints by faile are not just "copy's".. they are all hand finished and still extremly limited.. yeah so thats what ive always wondered... so if the prints are handfinished and all, whats the difference between that and an origial besides the edition run (one being ed of one, and the other being ed of 9 or something) My Military Death and my Savage Dreams are pretty customised and hand touched up and ive not seen another savage dream or military death look exactly the same... i would have thought the original had real RIPS and TEARS in the pasting of the pictures and the layering? Faile Site Update, by dime683 on Nov 12, 2007 20:35:41 GMT 1, there are a total of 29 pieces available. unless they add more. figure out the odds on that!
