As mentioned above, find a decent framer. Id also give MFM a well used seal of approval.

I know nothing about much, and even less about framing or art, but have a few things I want to get framed and the local framer ballsed the last things up, so looking for guidance.

MFM are pro, they will work with you on what you need. Doubt youll struggle to get what you need. |

He does fully custom framing but will also advise if you havenโt got a clue. Iโve used him for years. I also always use museum glass on everything as I feel if itโs good enough to have a space on your wall it needs to look itโs best for the person viewing it. |

As I mentioned earlier, you can go for 99% Artglass which is cheaper than museum glass and still the same UV protection. Ask a quote for both and you can then decide. Iโve got both Artglass and Museum in my house and couldnโt tell the difference. Below is a bit more info for you. |

They will collect/drop off in London. Gary and his team have huge experience, going back many years. They will do custom work. They are local to me and have always been excellent.

I also have UV films on the windows of a couple of rooms where there is a lot on the walls and take care not to hang anything (museum glass or not) in direct sunlight.
Iโve used MFM and heโs good but there are good framers in most areas if you do your homework you can avoid having to ship your art to Norwich for framing. The advantage of a local framer is that you can build a relationship - useful if you need to jump the queue, have an unusual request etc

Check the joins on mfm, not always clean/flush looking, I've talked to others who've had disappointing results sometimes & moved. You pay for what you get with Pauli, Darbyshire, Simon Beaugie etc. |

(A nice frame job is always good though but you can pay less on the glass you use)

Things deteriorate; art, buildings, people, etc. etc. That's part of life. Even priceless works of art in national museums deteriorate over time. Just enjoy your art in the here and now. Don't worry about what condition they will be in, in 30 years time. You probably wont care much for the art you have now in 30 years time anyway.

I tend to buy the 50% extra free vouchers that mfm does in November. It allows me to have the better glass. I also tend to sell a few of the bits off that we all accumulate that will never be framed which also goes towards the framing costs. |

Brampton Framing I have found great to cut to size Museum Glass, quite inexpensive on these smaller items, and well worth it, would certainly recommend.
