Why the hate ? A relative steal if your on the ball. If your slow, your not gonna buy one on ebay with wet ink at higher cost when you could buy directly from Faile at a similar price.

NEW FAILE!, by Karl Read on Jun 18, 2009 13:56:11 GMT 1, Maybe releasing the editions at $1200 and then upping the price by $50 for every one sold. Like what Obey recently done. It would discourage flipping to a degree.
Dont mean to be nit picking but that was Iconolasts doing, Obey doesnt do that through their site. I think Iconolast does that with most of their artwork.

NEW FAILE!, by Daniel Silk on Jun 18, 2009 14:42:41 GMT 1, What is the correct price to sell them at?
1. At a low price so people can buy them, and resell them for a good profit straight away.
2. At a price in line with values at auction and ebay.
3. Over priced, so people know they could not sell them for a profit (at least for the moment) meaning only true lovers of the work will buy.

NEW FAILE!, by jones27 on Jun 18, 2009 14:48:53 GMT 1, Is there a market out there in this climate for people willing to spend 2k on a flipped Faile release? Id like to see the editions sell for £1000 at cost. It keeps a buzz about the product and is fairly accessable for the fans.
In an earlier post I slated the imagery on this release. However, I too am now falling for the falling for faile piece...Grower.

If its your only chance to get the image you want, and your gonna hang it on your wall at home and never think of selling it Paying over what other people might think is too expensive dunt really come into it

Based on that view Faile could start loading OG colourway prints on their site for £10's of 000's and it doesn't matter so long as you buy with a view to keeping it? No Sir, it does matter.
IMO there has to be some value in the art so people don't start thinking they are being taken for a ride. Once buyers get the feeling that they are no longer getting good or reasonable value for their money they will keep their hands in their pockets. This is what we are seeing with the recent Faile release.
If I was looking for a decent Faile image today at a price that I considered to be fair then I would be going to eBay first rather than source. That doesn't quite seem right to me but that's were we are today.

Don't really get what you're trying to say here can you explain a bit ?
1. Are you really saying that the only purchasers of low price art are people buying to sell straight on at a profit because I think that's a complete misrepresentation of fact and quite insulting to many collectors.
2. Which one then ? I mean there's huge discrepancies from week to week on ebay let alone comparisons with physical auctions, this as a base line is would have a massive range of prices so how would that work ?
3. Over priced ? what more than £1.4k for a print or is £1.4k already over priced ? whichever it is why can you only be a true lover if you can afford to spend that as I find it quite insulting that I couldn't be considered a "true fan" as I can't.

Wiz thats only a simplistic view if you can afford to be that simplistic about it - unfortunately price is a big factor (whether we want it to be or not)

but they should offer some "lower" tier prints - the mono colour versions
or slightly bigger runs (50 max)

NEW FAILE!, by snausages on Jun 18, 2009 17:06:39 GMT 1, The whining about price is pretty lame. The price is relatively fair. Faile doesn't need to justify anything or run around checking forum boards making sure people are ok with the price. If you can't afford it move on. Lots of things I can't afford, I don't whine about it all day, maybe once, but not all day.
But you can't expect artists to run around and watch every ebay auction and lower and raise their prices on a never ending basis to keep inline with ebay. It's absurd, nobody does that and prices on ebay can be all over the place depending on what cheap bastards or desperate collectors are bidding.
