The Best Film Ever, by macfuton on Feb 20, 2021 22:06:34 GMT 1, Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance... and the other 5 if you like it! Beat you to it! Is that your favourite?
You into Zatoichi as well? Equally as special.
It's the only one in the series I've seen. Did mean to get the rest but never did. Bought it from hmv when I was going through my watching Kill Bill phase.
The reason I recommend it to folk who aren't necessarily into this genre is due to a single scene in the film. Specifically when father and son are bathing. The most memorabley tender scene I've ever - ehm - seen.
I've watched the 2003 Zatลichi.

The Best Film Ever, by Foolsgold on Feb 20, 2021 22:57:42 GMT 1, Off topic - Nearly finished season 1 of Narcos but not really feeling it. Are seasons 2 & 3 any better or am I wasting my time? I try to avoid TV because they can be too rabbit hole/bingey like with little reward at times.
I loved it, but I like all that kind of stuff.
I cannot recommend Ray Donovan highly enough-if you haven't watched it already!
Currently watching Lupin....very good so far!

We watched this Friday evening having seen a decent review, really enjoyed it, dark but also funny too, in a vague way similar to three billboards in that respect, dark as heck but also funny too

In Bruges is a really really funny film. Also recommended.
In Bruges is somewhat of a hidden gem.
An often-overlooked aspect is the makeup artistry (or wizardry) showcased in this film.
Don Logan is almost unrecognisable in his excellent supporting role as Harry Waters.

The Best Film Ever, by Charlie Bronson on Feb 22, 2021 6:47:26 GMT 1, A somewhat disturbing documentary I had to watch in my Advanced Documentary Film class, years ago in college. The film was banned from public release, available only for educational purposes for health professionals and film students until the 90โs.
โSuperior Court judge Andrew Meyer allowed the film to be released to the general public, saying that as time had passed, privacy concerns had become less important than First Amendment concerns. He also said that many of the former patients had died, so there was little risk of a violation of their dignity.โ
Titicut Follies is a 1967 American direct cinema documentary film directed by Frederick Wiseman and filmed by John Marshall. It deals with the patient-inmates of Bridgewater State Hospital for the criminally insane, a Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. The film won awards in Germany and Italy.

A couple of other Jeunet films are good too - City of lost children and Delicatessen but these are a lot more surreal and not quite such a relaxing watch

The Best Film Ever, by Tobi187 on Feb 24, 2021 15:04:27 GMT 1, Actually a documentary, but definitely worth to check it out:
Made You Look: A True Story About Fake Art
How did one of the most respected art galleries in New York City become the center of the largest art fraud in American history? Knoedler & Company, under its president, Ann Freedman, made millions selling previously unseen works by Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell, and others that had supposedly come from a secret collection. But when her prestigious clients discover they had purchased fakes, the scandal shocks the art world. Securing access to Freedman, her clients, and other key players, filmmaker Barry Avrich presents a fascinating exploration of the art of the con.
