ACID HOUSE 20PLUS YEARS OLD THIS YEAR, by Curley on Mar 31, 2008 11:22:10 GMT 1, Weatherall is indeed still the Daddy. Check out his new mix Cd Watch The Ride - Most excellent.
Andrew Weatherall – Watch The Ride – Album Launch Party Following lauded mixes by the Scratch Perverts, Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay, DJ Zinc, TC and most recently High Contrast, Harmless Records’ increasingly wide ranging ‘Watch the Ride’ series is spreading its wings with a superlative set from one of dance music’s most respected sons, Andrew Weatherall. A cornerstone of clubbing culture for the past 20-years, Andrew’s influence is not simply restricted to his own musical output with Sabres of Paradise, 2 Lone Swordsmen and the myriad remixes that have earned him his deserved legendary status, his renowned DJ sets, from Bloodsugar and Sabresonic through to his recent Wrong Meeting nights, have been cited as revelatory moments in their own careers by countless musicians, producers and DJs.
Giving a glimpse into Andrew’s musical psyche, the latest instalment in the Watch The Ride series, takes in Balearic vibes, proto-punk funk, psychedelic beats and Andrew’s all pervading Dub aesthetic in a benchmark mix that sees Weatherall, effortlessly evoke the spirit of “A drive through a major metropolis an hour and fifteen before sun-up with a bespoke suited rock ‘n’ roll band playing disco tunes in the back”.

ACID HOUSE 20PLUS YEARS OLD THIS YEAR, by spude on Mar 31, 2008 15:56:38 GMT 1, I used to buy my tracks from their shop in covent garden. John Edis used to work in there. They were all Roundshaw boys. I used to know some more than others. Good parties. I think John's a cabbie now? Wow this gets more interesting for me everyday.I ran the record shop with John Edis at Covent Garden and before that we was in Kings Road in the garage. It was called Phuture Records

I remember the one in croydon's old indoor market as well run by robin and dave.
John used to go there from time to time.
Do you know the Swag lot in croydon as well?

ACID HOUSE 20PLUS YEARS OLD THIS YEAR, by onemandown72 on Apr 1, 2008 22:34:43 GMT 1, all of this also got me thinking back to the last decent "new" pill that I had got my hands on, and it had to be apples. Brings back mixed memories, firstly as it was part of an incredible summer of fun and mischief that culminated in dancing in the pouring rain on the streets of Notting Hill to the last track that KCC had dropped at their soundsystem over carnival. On the not so good side was all the media witchhunt that followed Leah Betts death. Thought it was all nonsense at the time. Now just think it typical media abuse of a families grief. All in all acid house / house provided me with some amazing times. Only place that comes close to getting to this vibe now is certain afternoon sessions in Ibiza.

ACID HOUSE 20PLUS YEARS OLD THIS YEAR, by vital on Apr 2, 2008 18:11:56 GMT 1, what an excellent thread! i was just too young at the time to get into it when it started but went to my first rave in 1991 age 15 - Rolling Thunder at Essex University that had grooverider, fabio as the headliners..
i still have the audio tape..
and speaking of which - i did start to copy all my old tapes to MP3 before they all get demagnetised or whatever happens to audio tapes but i only ever got as far as 2 tapes...but i will do the rest
anyway here is a mp3 file (needs to be played in windows media player) of DJ Slipmatt from 1991 at Tootoo's club in essex - was a mental place on the road from colchester to clacton...i think one of the MCs on this tape ended up getting done for murder..this is actually a really good 45 minute slice of the vibes then
download.yousendit.com/3AAF0960407EE721
if anyone wants more tapes uploaded let me know...i have a wicked on my mate did with all the 1990 tunes on it..
what a great time - youths today dont have a clue..
yomster - mad that you made that tune on the first page of this thread..i remember that one

ACID HOUSE 20PLUS YEARS OLD THIS YEAR, by dumpsuk on Apr 2, 2008 20:00:40 GMT 1, Hey Spude, glad to see this thread is still going strong after my absence. We MUST know each other dude, if you're a Croydon boy. I used to buy my clothes from Al Berlin at the indoor market, he's still styling celebs now. D'you know moose, junior, valance, james brown, et al?

ACID HOUSE 20PLUS YEARS OLD THIS YEAR, by kingleopald on Apr 2, 2008 21:19:46 GMT 1, Nice one Vital! As always, you are the man with all the tunes!! I remember a classic night I promoted in the westcountry circa 1993 with Slipmatt, Lime and a live PA from SL2. Wish I'd kept hold of my mix tapes from back then. DIY Jack at Castlemorton was always a favourite (heard it again recently and was astounded at how bad the mixing was - though back then it didn't seem to matter so much...). Look forward to coming up on the memories!
