Banksy - New Orleans - Hurricane Katrina, by idris on Aug 31, 2008 0:58:02 GMT 1, Bush forgot New Orleans, most of America forgot New Orleans even existed before the hurricane even struck.
Banksy has been hard at work & to me it would totally make sense why there's been no (banksy) prints lately.
With Banksy choosing New Orleans - hopefully it'll give people something to remember - to not forget the people who still live there (if any still do that is)
PS - its definitely Banksy - the work is available to view on his website.
I've given up all hope of ever owning a Banksy & to be honest; it doesn't bother me.
His works are everywhere to be appreciated. Banksy - thought provoking as ever.

Banksy - New Orleans - Hurricane Katrina, by idris on Aug 31, 2008 1:00:58 GMT 1, Oh & another thing - Banksy choosing New Orleans, does anyone else think that the work isn't meant to be up for long? that Banksy would expect his work to be taken or destroyed by another Hurricane? I mean, look at all the thieving bastards that want to remove his work in London? I guess at least in New Orleans if a local does nab the work, good luck to em I say.

why would anyone be worried about Banksys work? its not meant to last forever - its gonna go sooner or later. Let his work be claimed by Gustav - at least Gustav won't be putting the work up for sale on ebay!!!!!

Banksy - New Orleans - Hurricane Katrina, by lee3 on Aug 31, 2008 2:20:48 GMT 1, >>>Bush forgot New Orleans, most of America forgot New Orleans even existed before the hurricane even struck. <<<
I'm not one to discuss politics or the general behavior of a culture but anyone American or not that has ever been to NOLA knows that it is unlike anywhere else in the world. That city attracts lots of tourists every year between Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest alone so I find it hard to even understand where you're getting the notion that America forgot New Orleans existed? I can list 20 US cities much larger than new orleans that have much less to offer in the way of culture or pleasure for my tastes. That town imho is anything but forgettable. The unfortunate reality is that it continues to sink below sea level because of all the oil drilling and this situation simply did not exist 100 years ago. There is no turning back and in many ways I feel eventually it is a lost battle. You rebuild once but I'm not so sure you rebuild twice as the situation only becomes more grave with each passing year. They still don't have half of the pre Katrina population and it's abundantly clear as to why when one sees what remains of the 9th ward.

Banksy - New Orleans - Hurricane Katrina, by doublehelix on Sept 1, 2008 12:25:22 GMT 1, Anyone seen this before? Was just having a look around flickr and came across this. It has an old school sig, so I'm assuming it's old, but I've not seen it before:
Photo taken from here.
Update:(Removed).com seem to think it's a recent addition to the Alabama skyline.

This no longer exists. It was in Los Angeles several years ago. Hollywood Blvd near Highland.

Banksy - New Orleans - Hurricane Katrina, by jB on Sept 3, 2008 21:54:38 GMT 1, my guess is that the owner may have crossed it out in fear of a possible backlash (with the back country folk thinking he may have been in charge of having something like that done to his own building)

and then the panels get taken down?
I doubt it was the owner that painted over it then
as surely he would of just taken the panels down or maybe someone else has taken um down to put it on ebay
would love to read the auction description "slight damage"
