There was plenty of people in the queue talking about investment instead of the quality of the print, plus the fact the other prints are hitting the 2k mark i think alot of them are going that way!!
Not having mine either!!!

Neate 2am Blog, by pezlow on Aug 14, 2007 14:49:59 GMT 1, There haven't been that many prints sold yet though. I didn't hear too many people talking about investment in the gueue but more about the art. Having said that the married couple in front of me in the queue both bought copies of 2am Blog so I guess there is at least one destined for the bay.

Did you get into the preview?
Because the general opening was baggers paradise!! Limiting to one print did not stop many there was an elderly couple who seemed lovely chatted away in the queue with them for a while, it was not untill they reached the front of the line and it came out they had both been to the preview the night before and they had already purchased six prints between them. They even seemed quite annoyed when told thay could only get two more prints, if i remember rightly two copies of 2am

Neate 2am Blog, by Imoy-San on Aug 14, 2007 15:15:42 GMT 1, I was put off by the whole gig. Seems like the venue is set up for this sort of behaviour.
To be honest, I think Elms Lesters actually encourages this kind of thing. The preview was restricted to people who have purchased prints before. Not surprising that many of the people invited are flippers.
Message of the day seems to be - 'we'll invite you to our exclusive opening if you can help us inflate the price of anything we sell, especially on auction platforms such as Ebay....'
Not impressed - by the prints to be honest. The originals rock, the prints are a chance for them to cash-in.

Neate 2am Blog, by pezlow on Aug 14, 2007 15:21:37 GMT 1, I don't agree yomster. The prints are amazing quality. They almost look three dimensional. Of course they are not a patch on the originals but then they are a fraction of the price.

Neate 2am Blog, by Imoy-San on Aug 14, 2007 15:41:32 GMT 1, Hey Pezlow, how goes?
Yup they are good - but it seems I am in a minority when it comes to parting with that much money for a photocopy!
The quality is meant to be great - it is a digital print! I must be old fashioned, as I like imperfections for my money, it shows a human actually spent some creative time labouring over the item.
I'll honestly queue for a print if it's worthy of my time. If it is an original, I'll stay up all night or travel to LA / NYC for one.
These will be available online, possibly changing hands for a load more than they were sold. I believe this was the objective of the exercise.

The prints are of amazing quality in themselves. But it's a little hard when you study the originals in real life to not feel taken to another level that the prints, in fairness of their phsyical/dimensional nature, just could never manage.
Just my opinion. Prints still rock; nothing on the originals though.

so if you've bought before you're likely to be a flipper? que?
the only reason the invites were limited was because so many ppl wanted to go, and who is it most fair to allow to come? Those who have bought previously? Or anyone who show's interest...I'm pretty sure Elms aren't alone in this kind of policy and I'd want to ensure the patronage of those who have bought with me before if I was doing...
as for the prints debate...for most of us this is the the closest we'll get to owning an Adam Neate original so I'll take it
also the 'photocopy' comment dude..is a little out of order...I don't what kind of quality your photocopier is...but mine at work is a bag of Sh*te and that copmparison is pretty crazy really
also thinking on further surely the fact prints are going for a fair amount more is due purely to the fact they're in demand rather than invisible greed engine eminating from clever manipulation by Elms?
