US ELECTION, by pfffffffffft on Nov 4, 2008 22:37:29 GMT 1, Almost as good at bull s**tting as Bill Clinton I'll say it.
Clinton was a great president and I think that's even more obvious when you look at all of the things Bush did to destroy the country.

US ELECTION, by manchestermike on Nov 4, 2008 22:38:12 GMT 1, Why is that? Why does he mean change? Because his HYPE oops, sorry HOPE campaign told you that? Do you believe everything that comes out of his mouth? He's a politician remember... Of course there will be A change or two if he gets in, new man in office, first black president blah blah... but WHAT exactly will be the change he talks about... Give him six months, he'll be EXACTLY like any other man in power. You'll realise you've been sucked in by the spin and hype and you'll feel dirty for it Mike, I feel sorry for you. You assume he's a liar before he's even assumed office. If you look at his life history and his voting record as well as being one of the only politicians in the US who spoke out against the war when the administration was branding anyone who did as a terrorist sympathizer you'd see that he walks the damn walk. Just curious, how have the past 8 years treated you? Hows business these days? How have the failed policies of this administration tanking the world economy affected you? Someone so jaded and bitter suggests to me that perhaps you're having a rougher go as the rest of us.
The past eight years... pretty good thanks. Business is good too, very busy and looking to be busier going into next year... Thanks for asking. How's it with you?
Not jaded or bitter at all... just got my eyes open

US ELECTION, by havana07 on Nov 4, 2008 22:38:36 GMT 1, "Obama is slimy and sickly smooth".... Keep going, you're almost there.... Not sure what you're getting at havana07 but I think you should be careful with what you say next.
If you are not sure, then I suggest you keep your trap shut. I'm not saying anything, I'm just letting MM do all the talking.

US ELECTION, by shaunyboy on Nov 4, 2008 22:38:56 GMT 1, And I cant believe that there are people here that think the opposite. Why is that? Why does he mean change? Come on Mike,
McCain was telling us constantly that he was the maverick. Indeed, with Palin they were both mavericks! This was seen as a positive in the US.
He was for change and that he wasn't Bush. This was the only chance he had of winning because Bush fucked up so much.
Like you say, the truth is that no matter who wins there will be very little change as they both represent the Business Parties.
But what are the McCain policies that turn you on so much Mike?

US ELECTION, by pfffffffffft on Nov 4, 2008 22:40:47 GMT 1, Ok I see it's all happening on this thread. Have to say I completely agree with Mike havana - you seem to think Mike holds the view he does because he a "good ole boy" (with the potentially racist undertones that suggests) If he's like me then he holds these views simply because he sees how the system works. When he says that Obama will most likely be a disappointment 6 months down the line, it's not because he's black or a democrat or anything like that - it's because he's just like any other presidential contender - backed by corporate and banking money and a paid up member of the system. The democrat/republican system is in power and the best way for it to stay that way is to maintain the status quo for as long as possible. That means no significant change.
Incorrect. All of his donations were from individual donors. Not from corporations, not lobbyists, not PAC. Fail.

US ELECTION, by junkieart on Nov 4, 2008 22:43:46 GMT 1, Mike, you don't give a f*ck who wins? This is the vote for the most powerful man on the planet. It is worrying that you don't care. yet are willing to put peoples opinions down. These people change the world for good or bad (mostly bad for the insane BUSH) you must have an opinion above, how much money they have spent on their circus like election trail?? Think the money could have ben better spend on getting out of IRAQ, but thats a different argument which will hopefully be short lived!!! Obama for the sake of humanity....

Oh puuurlease! Your so far off point. So I question Mike, big deal! I just want to know why someone so jolly on the forum, gets so bitter about Obama. For 6 months I've had to hear him droning on and on about 'Obama the deceiver' and tonight I question him, you throw black in my face? Dude change the script. That boat has gone.......

Please clarify for me - what were the good ole days? - and who are the good ole boys?

US ELECTION, by Avian Security on Nov 4, 2008 22:54:23 GMT 1, I personally feel that at a time of increased diplomatic tension around the world it would be healthy to have someone who truly appreciates the real horrors of war to be making the decisions. I also fear the Barracks lack of past credibility will mean he'll want to come in and stamp his mark, but probably in the wrong way. "Truly appreciates the real horrors of war"... what the hell does that mean? Have you ever been IN an actual war? I have... Iraq.... and it doesn't help s**t. I suffer from an anxiety disorder and depression now... So, based your strict standards, i guess i should run for President. Most of you need to stick to talking about buying and trading art... because when it comes politics... your ignorance is blinding.
Thread won. Lock thread.

Again, I feel with him it's a case of what you see is what you get, with Obama I feel people have been blinded by the glitz, glamour, hype and spin of his campaign. You look already at what he (Obama) is promising and can't fulfil... tax cuts for 95% of the population... getting totally out of Iraq are just two... they won't happen. He tells people what they want to hear and with the media totally on side people lap it up.
I just think that people are having the wool pulled over their eyes by Obama and I don't like it

Are you kidding? All he is doing is putting the tax rate back to the same exact one we had during the Clinton administration and having the rich pull their own fair share instead of the rest of us pulling MORE than our fair share. When 1% of the population create 40% of the wealth but pay only 20% of the taxes there is an imbalance.
