The Photography thread, by curiousgeorge on Oct 13, 2010 13:57:48 GMT 1, Must be so many fans of photography in all it's guises here, post up what you love and why
Gregory Crewdson..Said to have spend $1million on a typical shoot. His work has been on my radar for a couple of years now, narrowed my choices down and if I'm very lucky might have something by the end of the year
Christo...big fan due to the scale and impact and uniqueness? Obviously wouldn't fit in my east wing so a picture would suffice
Nan Goldin..Documented the underbelly of life and cross gender, really love the brutal honesty of her work
HBC...The man!!!
I recall the story of waiting for this image from a documentary and have been transfixed by it ever since
Ansel Adams...The reason i took up photography
More to follow...

The Photography thread, by curiousgeorge on Oct 13, 2010 14:41:53 GMT 1, Good luck finding it Wiz, I can't get the search function to find anything relevant when doing a search
Love this style of picture, took loads like along the Southbank a few years ago and popped them on a photography forum for feedback.Underexposed they all yelled, despite me saying this was the effect i was aiming as i think it works (to my eye)
After capturing a seal on holiday breaking through the water, I decided i would try and capture my son doing the same.1000 exposures and counting was happy till i saw this one

The Photography thread, by lee3 on Oct 13, 2010 17:31:37 GMT 1, Good thread- one of the few artistic mediums that I just can't get into like the others for whatever reason. Perhaps because I've frustratingly tried my hand at it for some time. I don't believe I own anything but have always loved Kertesz's Mondiran's Pipe and Glasses:
And anything by Eric Cheng:

The Photography thread, by meatbag on Oct 21, 2010 3:33:25 GMT 1, Since the toy scene seems to getting some momentum in the UK lately maybe some will dig the work by Brian McCarty. He just released his first book which includes pretty much his entire career and even talks about much of his technique.
He usually creates each image as an edition of 10. I picked up this guy recently and am definitely a fan.
