Judgement Day, by misteraitch on Jul 10, 2007 11:27:55 GMT 1, yup mine indeed
To be honest there are only three micallef images I like - Friendly Fire, Judgement Day and Head (but Head is just too small - even though it's the double of my oldest dog ;D)
An expensive piece but I'm as happy as a pig in muck as I love that image, and will be hanging it above my computer in the office as soon as I've got it framed ;D
I think it says more than a lot of his other pieces and if you like it - buy it

I think it's better than HFUNG and NOUM and they're around the same price so I'm happy and that's what's important
..at least I was till you told me you sold it for £800 ;D

Unfortunately... because now everyone that has one to sell will site that auction as justification for an exorbitant price.

Judgement Day, by jipsy on Jul 10, 2007 12:39:55 GMT 1, It's the housing market all over again. I'm still waiting for the bubble to burst, the price correction, the bottom to fall out of it etc.
Still, I've only been waiting for 3 years, it's due anytime now.

Honestly who would have thought prices would jump so quick? Part of me though thinks it's a false evaluation, with people just panic buying.

very true. however, i must admit that I would part with my JD for that much or even a few hundred quid less than that.
In that sense, like the housing market, i guess its taking a chance when to buy and sell. Though i wouldnt know as I dont own a house, but do own a JD. Anyone for a swap? Your house, my print? ;D

Someone should take him up on it. You'll only be kicking yourself in 6 months time ("I remember the days when a house could buy you a Micallef")...

Judgement Day, by misteraitch on Jul 10, 2007 13:21:35 GMT 1, Part of me though thinks it's a false evaluation, with people just panic buying.
Well I never thought that my purchase would've caused so much of a discussion....
I've been thinking of purchasing a Micallef for a long time now so this certainly wasn't a panic purchase, and as for a false evaluation - personally I think the piece is worth it - but then surely any piece is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it? I bought it because I love it - so it's worth every penny
There are some intersting reactions on here from those wishing they'd bought when they were cheap (so do they love it or are they thinking of future profit?) to those upset that they didn't get that amount when they sold their prints (again profit related)
I agree that I'm sure people will now be citing the auction as a justification for their upcoming auction prices - but if you don't think the piece is worth it then you wouldn't spend the money right?
At least I'm happy - I got the print I love ;D

it's a creamy-white colour. the pics on ebay are most likely due to the camera so they show it as whiter than it actually is.

I think you should be completely fair and cut it right down the middle. That would be £1,250 each!!

definately not a deep cream tho!
