The first run of Sunday B's have a black rubber stamp on the back rather than a blue one, but that is basically the only difference. There is no second edition and if someone tells you there is they are lying.
If you are genuinely interested in buying a Warhol then buy the print catalogue raisonne which is by Feldman/Schellmann it's the only resource to use when purchasing a print, and should be your first point of call. It's important to have all of the information before you make a purchase - especially with Warhol as there are so many fakes about. The book knoly costs about ยฃ60, better to spend that than making a 5k error!

Um, no one said warhol did a second run of marilyns unless I missed something. it was said there was a second run of soups, if memory serves tomato I believe. first run between 1964-1966, second run in 1978...the 1978 run usually costs around less than the sixties run. you may be correct but I thought the 1978 run of at least tomato was the same as the first run.
and I agree, use the catalog and I would suggest buying from a reputable dealer or auction house.

He used the image on the shopping bags in 66, other than that there are a few private project works that were done mostly with the reversal series - these are worth huge money though over ยฃ20k because they are unique.

I was particualrly pleased to see so much Warhol Wallpaper used, you don't see it in that many shows and it really gave the rooms the proper feel.

If you mean the Warhol soup cans editions I looked into these when I bought my Warhol a year or so ago
Also PLEASE bear in mind I am no expert and I am sure their are other members on here that can add / correct me.
Basically Warhol created an initial series (around 1968 ?) of 10 soups which were some of the varieties available at the time - this is now referred to as "Soup 1" - then as it proved so popular he then created another 10 varieties now known as "Soup2" (innovative mind at work !!!) They are all editions of 250 and also contained (from memory) 26AP in each edition.
Soup 1 tend to be more desiarable as they are considered very much the original series and also contains "Tomato" which is by FAR both the most desiarable / expensive simply because it was what Warhol apparently ate most days when he was younger and is also one of the most popular foods in America - this print is as much as 3 times the cost of any of the others and you are probably looking around $50K even in this market.Second most desirable is probably "Chicken Noodle" and from their its just personal preference.
I am well out of touch on prices but I would ahve thought you are looking at SOMEWHERE around ยฃ15K + for a decent soup 1 series and maybe ยฃ10K plus for a soup 2 - one thing with Warhols is the condition can vary greatly.
I ended up buying a print form the "Myths" series and still have some contacts so if you PM me I will forward them.

It's a hilarious read on the interdealings in the art market including some wonderful stories and jaw dropping prices as he's been dealing Warhol since the late 70s. It's very easy reading and a lot of fun too. I'm anxious to get a read on the new book (i sold Andy Warhol...too soon) as Richard told me there is a story in there about my wife and I. He's mentioned the new book will have some stories about collectors who have been at it for 40 years and collectors like us who have been at it for merely 10. Obviously, those of us in the latter category have never lived through an art correction until this past October so I believe this one will touch on the euphoria of the market but believe it was finished prior to the October crash. I can say without hesitation that Richard knows the Warhol (and the rest of the contemporary market) extremely well and he has taught us much over the years and we've sourced a number of Warhol's with his aid. If anyone is looking to source a specific image, it may be worth it to drop him a line and get his thoughts and see if he can help. He's gotten more for my money with that artist that anyone though I've never used him for prints ( obviously many do). Still, worth a shot nonetheless. I should add I have no incentive whatsoever but he's a good guy.

It's a hilarious read on the interdealings in the art market including some wonderful stories and jaw dropping prices as he's been dealing Warhol since the late 70s. It's very easy reading and a lot of fun too. I'm anxious to get a read on the new book (i sold Andy Warhol...too soon) as Richard told me there is a story in there about my wife and I. He's mentioned the new book will have some stories about collectors who have been at it for 40 years and collectors like us who have been at it for merely 10. Obviously, those of us in the latter category have never lived through an art correction until this past October so I believe this one will touch on the euphoria of the market but believe it was finished prior to the October crash. I can say without hesitation that Richard knows the Warhol (and the rest of the contemporary market) extremely well and he has taught us much over the years and we've sourced a number of Warhol's with his aid. If anyone is looking to source a specific image, it may be worth it to drop him a line and get his thoughts and see if he can help. He's gotten more for my money with that artist that anyone though I've never used him for prints ( obviously many do). Still, worth a shot nonetheless. I should add I have no incentive whatsoever but he's a good guy.
