WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE BANKSY FORUM?, by Gentle Mental on Jun 16, 2008 13:00:18 GMT 1, When exactly was the tipping point? does anyone provide a link to the thread?
it used to be sooo great. so rich with wit and knowledge and insightful updates, now it's just getting to be a play-by-play (can't find my add to basket) rant type of board.
a huge pity if it carries on like this, cuz this is where most of us started... it's the original recipe...
we should make peace, invite the all the old timers back.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE BANKSY FORUM?, by Curley on Jun 16, 2008 13:01:19 GMT 1, accepted and agreed - not going to pretend i didnt, but with time I like to believe that once meeting people and seeing the forum for what it really is, it made me less selfish about my own opinion, and you begin to appreciate other peoples views/opinions and their selfless motives Good for you mate.
well said

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE BANKSY FORUM?, by Curley on Jun 16, 2008 13:15:12 GMT 1, In my opinion, it all went tits up when Stuey and Pezlow resigned as moderators. Both extremely extremely helpful and knowledgeable members of an online community. The community as it was no longer exists and all thats left are galleries and artists extolling the virtues of some very poor art.
IMO Art should not be rammed down people throats , it should be put out there to be discovered and discussed in a adult manner but by having so many galleries and artists on here its now very difficult to have an open discussion as either the artist or the gallery will immediately feel the need to get all defensive. I think they forget we all entitled an opinion whether they agree or not.
My 10p

Beejoir was a great example of someone who never got involved in discussions on his pieces...sorely missed....

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE BANKSY FORUM?, by retroboy on Jun 16, 2008 13:38:03 GMT 1, I'm pretty new here too and must say I enjoy the forum, there are some good posts and through this forum have greatly expanded my knowledge and appreciation of many artists and works. I've visited loads of exhibitions, met some great people and bought a few lovely pieces all with info gained from here and via members.
So thanks all.
Agreed there are some tw*ts and crap on here, but hey, that's life. Just ignore and they will go away(!).
Cheers,
Retro.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE BANKSY FORUM?, by slowmo on Jun 16, 2008 13:45:56 GMT 1, I still like it a lot, you get lots of people just starting out on here in the your artwork thread, that alone sets it aside from many others as people generally don't get attacked there and can put their stuff up.
For all the arguing, well if you see the (naming no names) usual suspects updating quickly on a thread (sometimes I have to include myself here), well you know what it will be about.
Still love seeing peoples street work, it gets put up, love seeing peoples purchases. Enjoy silly threads like the one going on right now, first print, fav print, one that got away.
In the last three months I have won an agent provocateur canvas, successfully swapped my colour trolleys for my walk in harajuku, entered a competition for art that made euro 2008 interesting (although I have no chance of winning anything), been challenged to make some art after some over zealous goading and always been kept informed of shows I cannot attend through images kindly supplied by other members
Nothing wrong with this forum as far as I can see, guess it all depends on how much you expect to get from it?
