Tate Modern ๐ฌ๐ง London, by pathfinda on Feb 28, 2009 20:02:04 GMT 1, cant it all just go in Tate Modern? urban art is just another movement like brit art, art povera, pop art etc
What else do we label the art of our times if not 'urban art', the recent auctions at dreweatts & bonhams just show that urban art is really just contemporary art now, as the stencils and the spray paint are now just being used as painting media, (adam neate, herakut, pam glew etc) and urban art doesnt even have to use spray paint (micallef, ian francis, dennnig etc,)
nah, urban art is just contemporary/ post modern art of our times

Tate Modern's proposed ยฃ215m extension has been given the green light by planners, the London gallery has said. The 11-storey, brick and glass structure - designed by Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron - will increase capacity at the gallery. Southwark Council approved the revised project for the extension which is expected to be completed in 2012. Tate Modern said ยฃ74m had already been raised towards the extension - a third of the overall cost. Tate director Sir Nicholas Serota said he was "delighted" the plans had been approved.

Tate Modern ๐ฌ๐ง London, by Daniel Silk on Apr 15, 2009 21:54:06 GMT 1, "Explore a 360-degree view of the oil tanks These massive underground chambers at Tate Modern have lain unused since the power station was decomissioned. They once housed the oil tanks that ran the turbines and will be incorporated into Tateโs new annexe, becoming performance spaces and an auditorium.
Navigate the interactive using your mouse. After entering the space you can explore each of the three chambers. To view fullscreen, select this mode from the controls. Use the hotspots to view the space from five different perspectives."

Ive only been inside the one in Bilbao but its the most impressive gallery space (inside and out) that ive ever seen in person, even the way its built is a work of art

Tate Modern ๐ฌ๐ง London, by Daniel Silk on Aug 26, 2009 14:21:10 GMT 1, Whats the next step for Banksy?
Could the Bristol City Museum show have caught the notice of the Tate in London? How do the visitor numbers for the Bristol show rate with what the Tate Modern gets?
If you ran the Tate Modern would getting Banksy in to do a show be an obvious move for next year?
What do you think?
