TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by xmyart on Aug 9, 2011 10:56:02 GMT 1, none on my face mate. your not seeing the bigger picture is all. ive tried to explain and so have others. you just want to blame individuals for direct actions, and not accept the trail of events that have led them to this act.

Pointed out that wild assumption was totally wrong!!!
Takes a man to admit he is/was wrong.....

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by xmyart on Aug 9, 2011 11:01:16 GMT 1, hunter, its partly based on mob mentality, which changes even the calmest people into madmen/women. but the underlying social factors are the driver. The rioting is a statement not just an act. This has been boiling for years, and no we dont just give them money. We need to provide them with decent educations, prospects and hope.
otherwise why should they bother, is going to be what they feel.

clearly not, i based it on the way you come across.
Hunter no, i keep saying it, i dont see any justification for what they have done. Thats not the point i am making.

The point you are making is that society as a whole is to blame over the individuals ?.
Or are you saying no ones to blame
I honestly am not sure ?

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by xmyart on Aug 9, 2011 11:28:45 GMT 1, I think blame is the wrong word. But in essence correct. Society has played a role, conditions have lead to this outbreak of madness. They are venting how they feel, in the only way they think they will be heard.
by stealing stuff smashing stuff and burning it down. None of which is a good or helpfull thing. But they dont feel a part of the system, and they dont see they have any recourse to it.

I do agree with you that underlying structures in society are at the core of what is happening.
But I think you are wrong, if you believe that the individuals who are participating in the riots are doing so to make an explicit statement about their position in society.
Looting mobile phones or stealing out of the backpack of an injured kid is purely an act, not a statement about anything. Even if that act is born out of social structures.

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by hupster on Aug 9, 2011 11:30:49 GMT 1, After the news of the childrens hospital being a target last night i went out to stop any more attacks on the hospital.
Lets just say what i saw has NOTHING to do with social uprising and the no future of the youth and no jobs.
The people involved were aged between 14-25 year olds. One said to another.. goto go soon as im at work in the morning. They were taking stuff from shops then putting them in cars with 58 number plates. SO much for no money. Organised by some to meet at different points throghout the night by phone to attack certain shops.
Conclusion:
This is just out and out stealing. WHos going to pay for it...let me think...o yes me and the other tax payers. Clean up op in progress costing over 35000 just to move the crap. Underlying reasons count for crap as there are no underlying reasons in brum other than to steal from others inclucing women walking back home. Heavy police tonight me thinks. Have no time for these losers who even attack a childrens hospital. They would be the first to shout and moan if their children were in there. NO EXCUSE FOR ATTACKING HOSPITALS. SIMPLE. But i am sure someone will come up with some crap on here.
Hupster

Thats madness, they clearly know that destroying peoples property is wrong, Why do they steal then ? Why not just destroy things. ? They are clearly looting for personal gain , not to make a comments on Society and how they do not feel part of it??

IMHO this is exactly the type of mollycoddling, soft-pedalling apologism that, over successive generations, has been a direct influence on these thieving animals believing they have a 'right' to make themselves heard in this way.
Lawless scum. Pure and simple.

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by xmyart on Aug 9, 2011 11:47:55 GMT 1, ok, again, i have tried and tried and tried to say i dont justify any of this.
They dont think on the individual level that they are changing something, but the social situation is what has brought out the unrest and why there are such a large amount of people out. I have no doubt that there are a mass of bandwaggoners and opportunists out there. Its hardly a suprise.
I am now really done. Theres nowt left i can say i havnt said six times already.
Ignore the causes and enjoy the repetition i say.
2 parting gifts, to do with as you wish.
George Santayana quote: "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it,
We learn from history that we learn nothing from history. George Bernard Shaw

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by balibob on Aug 9, 2011 12:58:35 GMT 1, I agree with a lot said so far, this is not social deprevation at work. Its a lot of scum bags co-ordinating where they are goiing to rob next using their Blackberrys and iphones, ''liberated'' no doubt from some poor bast**d they manged to mug. They are not rioting over a shortage of food, they are rioting so they can hit the local electrical store and resupply on plasma tv's, oh and then torch the place once its been emptied. No doubt those pieces of sh1t who have attacked the paramedics as they try to help the injured, will be crying and bleating for treatment tonight after being (hopefully) beaten over the head with a heavy police trunchon (again hopefully) several times.
They burn down the neighbourhood shops and then bleat that their is nowhere to shop or get a job.
My contempt for them knows no bounds. My feelings for those who try and blame Government/ Police action/ Social deprevation/ anyone else (please delete as applicable) for the actions of these animals are the same.
