TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by mothegrass on Aug 7, 2011 12:26:15 GMT 1, Appalled by this last night,
It started with an idiot that rather than lay down his gun when faced by 20or so armed police who gave him four warnings (as stated by Indi witnesses) he chose to fire his gun at police, did he think he was going to win.? If you carry a gun like a wannabe gangbanger then you will die carrying it, either by police or by the other idiots you choose to hang with
Then his so called friends who with no respect to his family went on a rampage of violence and looting , how in their stupid drug induced minds did they think this would hep.? Answer, they didn't , they just wanted to act like c**t ,, shame on these idiots
Get well soon tottenham, after 25 years of being tarred with that brush you deserve too (that's the community not the football club)

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by mothegrass on Aug 7, 2011 12:38:21 GMT 1, Disgusting in my view , what did they think they were going to achieve . All they have created is a worse bad name in the area of tottenham ,people made homeless , and businesses ruined ,and more years trying to recover from it

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by xmyart on Aug 7, 2011 12:39:28 GMT 1, lol final score was 26 - 2 with the rioters taking the win. Apparently he shot a police radio mo not a cop. And that didnt start it. The community were after answers from the cops. A woman was asking and got a bit stressy about it, so the cops battered her. THAT was what kicked it off.
Nice to see your on form with your usual reasoned discussion though.
Just a thought, is your real name the caped crusader?

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by mothegrass on Aug 7, 2011 12:52:55 GMT 1, It's a police shooting, you don't get answers in 5minutes, and as I'm not a lover of the police if you point or shoot a gun at the police then you will be injured fatal in most cases, also the radio was attached to the cops chest so does that make it ok.? I dont think he was aiming at the radio,as for the police battering a women for being stressed starting it that's rubbish there has been no reports on that,,believe me that would be headline news,, cherrie groce 25 years ago was pushed over by police during a raid and suffered a heart attack that started the last riots,,,, cape crusader .? I think your the crap crusader what's the lol all about .? I think you are just like the idiots on the streets last night, you are cheering them on when all their excuse was going on a looting spree for new clothes

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by stillborncrisps on Aug 7, 2011 13:02:48 GMT 1, I feel bad for anyone innocent hurt and private property damaged/looted, that's terrible and no one should have to go through that. But I think the riot was inevitable.
Too many times recently the police have been found out to be liars, and covering their own backs. Look at the Ian Tomlinson incident - the police lied and changed their story 3 times (I think) as each new piece of public footage (luckily) came to light. WTF???!?!!!
There's also the Charles de Mendez case where there were several contradicting accounts, the Forest Gate 'terrorist' brothers where one was shot during the raid but no weapons or bombs were ever found. These are only the more public ones we know about, and they're not 'one-offs'.
When the Police still won't explain what actually happened last Thursday (ie busy cooking up their story) how are the community affected meant to feel?

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by xmyart on Aug 7, 2011 13:07:51 GMT 1, did i defend the looting? or the attacks on buildings? not sure i did. I think you will have to keep watching the news mate, youll find out for yourself that the attack on the woman outside the police station in fact WAS what kicked the rioting off. The actions of the police in the way they handled the raid 25 years ago was way over the top in response to the lady you mentioned and caused the heart attack, no?
I am not really like those on the streets as i dont believe in the destruction of property as a means for resolution. I have however been in many situations similar to this where the police response has been the trigger point (and if you consider the kettling issue, even you may be able to see how they push for the obvious response). I have not only witnessed these responses in the past and various other vile acts by the police, i have also been on the receiving end of it for no real reason AT ALL (albeit i accept your going to find that hard to swallow).
I looked out of my window just now and can see you sat in you ivory tower as you pass judgement on others. I think you should go out some time and see how these things are escalated by the police. Maybe then you will temper you ideological views on the world. Not everyone lives in the privileged position you do. And this has an impact on the way they feel able to get their views heard. Dialogue is as ever the way forward, but it is not something the police seem to like.
As for the lol, well i guess thats just personal to me. deal with it.

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by xmyart on Aug 7, 2011 13:10:39 GMT 1, Have to say i dont know if the radio was connected to a cop, but i really dont think it would have been reported that he shaot a police radio, if it was. Thats taking the benefit of the doubt way beyond the N'th degree. so is suspect it wasnt.

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by fingerz on Aug 7, 2011 13:16:51 GMT 1, A local woman, who declined to give her name, said: ‘There’s a theory going on that the man who was shot had dropped his gun, but they still shot him. I’m hearing that most of the shops in the High Road are being burgled and robbed.’
A family friend of Mr Duggan, who gave her name only as Nikki, 53, said the man’s friends and relatives had organised the protest because ‘something has to be done’ and the marchers wanted ‘justice for the family’. Some of those involved lay in the road to make their point, she said. ‘They’re making their presence known because people are not happy,’ she added. ‘This guy was not violent. Yes, he was involved in things but he was not an aggressive person. He had never hurt anyone.’

He was not a violent person, but carried a gun.,The rest is hearsay evidence And conspiracy theories, until you hear otherwise I'm in no way saying the police are not liars I know lots of people who have been framed by the police also people who have been shot by them (in the eighties when they couldn't shoot straight ,now the are better equipped and they go for the body mass so you will die if hit). But this guy was armed and if you live that way then you will end up dead The prisons are full of innocent people,, ask anyone in there and they will say they were fitted up, ;D. You are right xmyart, 25 years ago they were very heavy handed in the groce raid and way over the top in the way it was handled. Totally agree with you,, but that news came straight away to the media so we all knew why the riots started, this case is that of a guy who was carrying a gun and used it, and his so called friends are going the wrong way in finding out what happend... This is showing the world and media that this is what the guy like, not a single thought for his family or the good members of the community and when things get to big then there are cover ups

Initial ballistic reports show the bullets may have only been fired by police and the one lodged in the policeman's radio was in fact police issue

TOTTENHAM RIOTS, by Sundowner on Aug 8, 2011 16:54:54 GMT 1, The original reason for the riot appears to have been forgotten now and it seems to be all about causing as much trouble as possible. It's been well publicised that the casualty was a known crim and quite frankly I find it appalling - seeing some of these idiots trying to justify their actions on destruction of local businesses and endangering innocent families with children is abhorent......lock the ***** up and throw away the key.

While I do not condone attacking innocent peoples property, I do think the gap between those that have and those that dont is getting worse. Mistreatment by police and unemployment levels are I guess just 2 of the factors in this for me
