WORLD CUP 2011, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Oct 15, 2011 11:57:06 GMT 1, Gutted we lost that! Played great with a man down, no excuses as you goto make the kicks. France are very poor and aussies or the ab's will win quite comfortably.... positive that Wales have improved so much and the side are really young. Cmon the all blacks!

Well said that man!! Having said that...
... if I was trapped in a cage with Alain Rolland & a bear & only had two bullets, I'd shoot Alain Rolland twice just to make sure

WORLD CUP 2011, by Brushstrokes 75 on Oct 15, 2011 14:40:53 GMT 1, Can't really blame Alain Rolland. You can't deny it was a spear tackle (or at least a referee at real speed can't see anything else than a spear tackle). Law of rugby 2009 says spear tackle = red card.
I'll give props to the Welsh who might own the world when you know the average of this team is 23...
Anyway, I actually think that the red card was a good thing for the Welsh team as it turned their tactics into a positive one. It's just a shame they didn't pass all those kicks....

WORLD CUP 2011, by balibob on Oct 15, 2011 15:05:24 GMT 1, All the Celtic nations seem to embrace this ''Noble Defeat'' malarky. Get beaten but are proud of the effort etc.
Now the English would have already had effigy's of Warburton hanging from the lamp posts and the tabloids would be screaming that he lost us the World cup.
It comes down to expectations I suppose Scotland, Ireland and Wales hope their team will do well, semi believe it until the noble defeat.
The English on the other hand totally believe that certain victory is ours, then when the inevitable happens and we are crap and get stuffed, start looking for the nearest scapegoat to crucify.
Its a lot more fun to be English.

WORLD CUP 2011, by Hubble Bubble on Oct 15, 2011 15:27:11 GMT 1, Even with 14 men Wales should have won that game. Contrary to most I thought they picked today to give their poorest performance of the tournament. They ran laterally, too often being pushed into touch, their lineout didn't function and their goal kicking was abject. Very disappointing and disappointed for them. France must surely be the poorest team ever to get to a world cup final - and I include England four years ago in that Whoever wins tomorrow will surely walk the final.

WORLD CUP 2011, by Harveyn on Oct 16, 2011 9:30:40 GMT 1, Both of these teams will absolutely destroy France. Nothing against the French team but it would be dreadful if they won the WC with the way they have played. Home Nation for me.

WORLD CUP 2011, by stanley on Oct 16, 2011 9:45:50 GMT 1, Still cant believe the result yesterday! Wales would be in that final if it wasnt for referee. Yellow card. Why not watch replay or asking advise of other officials before making such a decision?!Who in their right mind puts someone in charge of a Wales v France match whos father is french & speaks french. (And also beat Ireland, his home nation the week before!) I know it sounds like sour grapes but Wales officials had already spoken about this prior to the match. Wales were robbed!

Why people don't get that it's the letter of law (changed in 2009 because of the O'driscol drama). The referee shouldn't make his opinions on the player's intentions but on the fact.
Referees have been summoned by the Board to give red cards for those moves. A couple of players did similar tackles earlier in the WC and only got yellow. They were heavily suspended by the commission and the referees were told to give red.
It's not rugby league it's rugby union and you just comply with theses rules... If you have any complaints you can complain to the IRB.
If you did watch the game, after the sent off most of the decisions were made in Wales favor. There were no fouls on the last kick given to Wales (France got penalized for entering on the side but it was definitely not a ruck).
Afterwards, that's probably the weakest line of France rugby history. We do suck hard. But it's definitely not our fault (nor the referee) if we did go through.
To be honest. There has been so many times when we did play great rugby and didn't get anywhere that I realy don't care to play like s``t and win.
All blacks are definitely the main favorites. Cruden is an amazing youngster. Weepu missed more kicks in this game than in the entire competition (I hope it won't get too prejudicial for the AB).
I don't get why everyone is taking it out on France.

WORLD CUP 2011, by Harveyn on Oct 16, 2011 10:15:13 GMT 1, BS I am not taking it out on France at all and certainly not because of what happened yesterday. Love the French and had a fantastic time in Bordeaux when I travailed for the last WC. I think they have played awful and I would rather the home nation won on this particular occasion if they get through today. Its my honest opinion that based on the form to date that either NZL or AUS will beat France and rather easily.
Hope I am wrong as I want to see a great competitive final.

Wasn't talking about you Neil actually (or anyone on that forum for that matter)!
I was thinking of all the media and pundits whining all the time... It's always someone else's fault! (Referee, weather, IRB....).
I enjoy the patriotism to some extent that British fans show in all sports!
We definately lack that in France. We're always saying that we suck.
The final will be probably be a different game. Why? France has played this world cup so far trying not to lose. The players were scared to play, didn't have any confidence (ie the interviews of the players after the game).
There was game left and it's probably gonna be a tight game as they don't have anything to lose (we already got our asses kicked by the AB a few weeks ago)!!
At least, I hope it's gonna be a good game even if we lose by 50 because this time there's no excuse not to play.
In 2007, nobody thought anyone could beat the Blacks and I feel they are weaker now. Pressure is on them to perform well.
@ shootagain : If we can do the same than Italy 2006, I'll be pleased lol

Have to agree with you Zim about the non-stop whining/excuses.
Of course France is the underdog in the All Blacks game but I'll be supporting them and hope they can pull it off.

The earlier tackles in the WC didnt deserve yellow they deserved red. Where as the tackle in the semi was a yellow at most. Referee should have asked for advice before making such a decision in a semi. Not knocking France as it wasnt them that spoilt the game. It most be so frustrating for the welsh players, playing good rugby throughout WC (even when down to 14) & then going out due to a poor decision. Anyway good luck to France in the final but i think you used all your luck in the semi!

WORLD CUP 2011, by Brushstrokes 75 on Oct 16, 2011 19:43:07 GMT 1, To be completely honest... It's just a personal opinion. I actually believe the red card was a good thing for Wales.
The real turning point of the game is Adam Jones injury... He is a damn important detonator in Wales game.
The red card helped Wales change their tactics (which was actually a good one) that was adapted to the loss of Adam Jones. It was really clever & effective if only they did pass their kick. He also added some spirit to give everything.
The rule says that : if you drop or spear a player after lifting him of his feet above waste is a straight red card. It also specificies that the referee should give red in case he has any doubt and work backwards...
You can't blame Roland for that.... It might be a harsh and stupid rule. But even if the player might not intended to. If Clerc had broke his neck, people would say otherwise.
Afterwards, apart from that rule, I agree that it would have been yellow but rules are rules.
We used our luck all the way through... Only team in history going into the final losing 2 games in a world cup.
Wales' players are young and they'll will get on top of the world soon enough! They can wait hehe

Weve waited long enough already! Sick of losing! ;D
still believe it was a game changing decision & cant understand why he didnt check with other officials before making the call.

WORLD CUP 2011, by Deleted on Oct 17, 2011 7:53:40 GMT 1, Go France !!! Go France !!
Yes, Saturday's game was awful !! But glad we won and wondering if referee was half-French
Red card was a bit harsh but as Zim said, it's the rule ! Not sure about two penalties for offside given to Wales... Poor kick by the Welsh and as said above, poor performance they should have played it pick-and-go, pick-and-go like they did in most Six Nations games !
