MR BRAINWASH @ OPERA GALLERY LONDON, by Rsyok on Oct 5, 2011 10:30:36 GMT 1, Personally I see worst art by people on a daily basis, and who's to say their art isn't valid. yes, it sometimes baffles me how Thierry and Kaws don't get their arses sued by Disney, Nickolodeon or DC Comics... but DFace does superheroes too, as does Lister. in my personal opinon, anyone can make art and it's valid, the onus is on the viewers to like it or not...? But as a very good friend of mine says to me often - "It's not a f**king popularity contest!" So more power to the French nutter. I hope he make f**king billions!!! Could'nt agree more Remi, its great that MBW is so accessible I guess Opera would normally be a pretty daunting gallery without le loon running around.

MR BRAINWASH @ OPERA GALLERY LONDON, by Deleted on Oct 5, 2011 12:35:01 GMT 1, hehe, please don't get me wrong, of course I'm totally fine with people liking MBW work! I like some of his pieces a bit as well, but for me to be a show the show of the year I need to be surprised by new techniques, ideas and style. that is something that MBW never does for me. If you are a big fan of the man this probably will be the best show for you, that is fine, but please keep your eyes open and look at how other artist keep reinventing themself and try new, risky things.

MR BRAINWASH @ OPERA GALLERY LONDON, by Shoot Again on Oct 6, 2011 6:26:20 GMT 1, Few info he gave me during our chat : his Show in L.A. will start at the very end of Oct. and London will follow in June 2012. He was looking yesterday for a "huge" space somewhere in Central London and he said he found one that he liked. He was quite excited about eventually doing something "big" in London :-)

Nice photos as ever Butterfly, interesting crowd, Remi's got a bit of George Clooney going on do you reckon ?

MR BRAINWASH @ OPERA GALLERY LONDON, by Layaway Days Art Blog on Oct 6, 2011 10:44:36 GMT 1, Not a fan of most of his stuff and especially not all the celebrity stuff or monroe hair works(very boring) but I have to say I do like the newest 'never never never' print in pink writing. Cool message and looks nice. Seems like a decent enough guy as well. Great ability to market and a good business man by the looks of it.
I started out drinking the hatorade seemingly like everyone else but have mellowed out. Like all artists, his work isn't all good or all bad. Rather support him than those that throw tantrums on entertainment gossip shows and only utilize reds and blacks

MR BRAINWASH @ OPERA GALLERY LONDON, by remirough on Oct 6, 2011 14:14:58 GMT 1, Perhaps the issue begins when someone says limited. A poster is generally a very quickly thought out means to promote an end, miles cheaper and can be enjoyed as an image only, sadly they ordinarily contain an advert for a show or something else, so you end up with a sales poster on your wall and eventually you have to pull it down. A limited edition print, well you kind of hope people realise its an image of merit. Some thought on the image and care in the execution should come to pass and you have a work of art on your wall which a poster can never match. I think it's fair enough to ignore who the artist is to an extent, the problem with brainwash, it's continually churned out, with little thought other than 'what do people expect to see'. There is nothing wrong with that, many corporations do very very nicely out of providing what the general consensus of society want. I just wonder if people get angry that Brainwach makes posters, only they lack the show date. Take his name away and they are what they are, a naked emperor.
Whether people like it or hate it, the artist has made a statement enough for people to comment and that in itself is what making art is all about... I'd much rather see a colourful MBW piece which has some humour within it, even if it lacks in it's execution and reasoning, than Stik's rubbish... That to me has no relevance whatsoever. At least MBW has some relevance, whether you like it or not.

MR BRAINWASH @ OPERA GALLERY LONDON, by Ottomatik on Oct 6, 2011 19:02:20 GMT 1, Remi, While I agree with your thoughts/comments on MBW... I have to say, it's rather disrespectful to defend one artist and their merits and within the same sentence, strike out at anothers' by saying their work is rubbish. I am not a fan of Stik, however, i choose not to post my disdain for an artist and their work. At any rate, I've defended MBW on this forum many times, i have found it best to just not engage. --- That Madonna piece is AMAZING. MBW should create a print edition.
