ok well this star rated system is getting on my tits a bit an i think it needs looking at! big time!
i would suggest maybe a board voted system not just one persons opinion!?!
or an even better system would be getting rid of the star rating system altogether altogether! that way you let people make thier own minds up instead of shoving your preferences down peoples throats...

fake, stik, grafter, SPQR and swoon! are on 1 stars!!!
saber one and TLP are on 2 stars!!!

Maybe it'd be more suitable just find some way of highlighting members / artists without trying to "quantify" them.
Why would somebody want to "grade" and artist?
There is a positive mentality here where artists are to be encouraged, with several threads I have read been chastised for expressing a negative opinion on an artists output. I'd argue that assigning a grade to and artists is a very similar thing, bracketing an artists work as "less" than anothers due to an unquantifiable opinionated grading system.

i personaly think his rating system is an insult to some artists!!! especialy to the likes of BLU!! who sit with 2 stars! while invader sits on 5!
(and i think someone has changed them since last night as im sure dolk was 4 yesterday now he's on 5? i could be wrong...)

I said as much when it was introduced, but cant find the thread now.
It is (imho) insulting to some hugely influencial and important artists (not that I think they would particularly care - but insulting nonetheless).
For example Micallef, Choe and JR all 2 stars, and Os G just 3 stars.
No particular vested interest here - I only own anything by 1 of those 4 artists.
Inevitably the number of stars is down to one persons personal opinion of the artists.
However, as this is not made clear, visitors to this site could think that there was some authority behind the number of stars, over and above one person's personal opinion.
I also think that the system is potentially off putting for new and emerging artists - "will I be taken seriously if I dont have any stars" (fwiw, I hope so, because its the work that counts).
Warm Gun, I dont remember any opportunity to input into the star system, or any subsequent suggestion by Silky that this was what happened - I thought (Silky, please correct me if this is wrong) that Silky decided the number of stars, but he said he took into account how often the artists were discussed on this thread - please forgive me if this is not correct.
I would support Five in his suggestion that we go back to just 1 red star for all artists.
No offense intended by any of the above.
Btw - I would also still like to see the return of the "Your artwork" section. Please! One of my favorite places on here!

Stars are a little bit kiddy for us mortals to get on post count, i would much prefer to have comments like when you get to 1000 posts you can be called something derogatory like forum bore or similar <<<< nips off to check own post count

If this is the case, and it has been followed, i don't see any reason to change the system. Only update it due to this years results.

Everyone makes mistakes. I would hope the star system to simply be that a mistake. In the wrong hands this sort of thing can be abused. Not that I am accusing anyone.

I hope these artists are the kind of people who wouldn't get upset by one persons opinion. I wouldn't use the forum if I was an artist and was being judged in that way, unless I had 5 .

In mine and everyone else who has voteds opinon its time to remove these stars, its just not fair on artists to be judged in this way, we have the Urban Art Awards, they speak for themselves. Why not just keep everyone who has voted happy and move on ?.

Some people don't like votes or awards they just see them as a popularity contest, but that's not a good reason not to have them.

It means that just coz something is your opinion, doesn't means its the right things to do to everyone.
Your posting your opinion, and I have said many times before that if you think an Artist should get more or less stars, then start a thread in that Artists board about it, stating your opinion on why you think it should be different.
You post your opinion, and let others post theirs
