Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Aug 7, 2023 22:28:45 GMT 1, If its in your pocket, get a currency!
I had a currency but sold it pretty early on for $13k to fund some other purchases.
Looking at a few more random pieces right now including trying to track down a copy of "No News Today" from World Aids Day back in 2006 or so if anyone has one stored away...
Or I'll just wait and hope for another real, paper print in the next 1-2 years. No real rush as my walls are currently full anyway!
If you're after a new Hirst print on paper it might be a bit of a wait. According to "Art Collectorz", his last release on paper was in 2016. (Of course I could be wrong here)

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Aug 3, 2023 16:19:17 GMT 1, Quite clever of Heni to tie in with Phillips for this release. Don’t underestimate the volumes Phillips will be able to shift for them. I don’t see the final edition numbers being as small as people may think due to this. I think that with the state of the market and the poor image quality (only the Richter-Longos appeal to me), that the edition sizes on these will be very low. I keep seeing it everywhere, that new editions are just not selling well at source.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by Poster Bob on Jul 30, 2023 18:26:31 GMT 1, Is a walk up ticket still an option or am I not likely to get entry? Trying to find a way to get to this. When you get to the museum there’s a sign on the left telling you when the next walk-ups are available for. The times were better than the close-to-midnight times I had.

Szabolcs Bozo 🇭🇺 Szabi • Hungary • Fantastical Creatures , by Poster Bob on Jul 28, 2023 11:06:30 GMT 1, What are people's thoughts on the upcoming Avant Arte edition with Bozo avantarte.com/products/szabolcs-bozo-the-aquarium ? I think it's by far the best print release he's done, so I'm probably going to grab one, but just nervous this will be followed by another bunch of prints like they did with Roby ... Avant Arte charge very high prices that remove all, if not more, of the difference between the initial price and the market price. They were able to do this for so long as they clearly had a very strong customer base who bought many releases per year. Look at the effects of inflation and rising interest rates and we now see that the constancy of sold-out releases has come to an end, and many are still available like: Shaina McCoy; Danielle Orchard; Takeru Amano; etc. Look at the decrease in demand for timed editions such as Jose Parla, figures for which fell massively YoY. Figures for the Elizabeth Peyton editions were never released, presumably because of how few were sold. Members are now unable to sell Avant releases at cost, or below. Don't assume any profitability from it, nor the ability to curry and favor with AA; only buy it if you love the image and want it in your home.

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Jul 27, 2023 19:54:25 GMT 1, That sold out quickly. What was the edition of each poster? Thanks 333 each was reported on the Discord server, reportedly said by staff at Phillips. A Phillips’ employee directly told me they reserved the right to print more, and to have more signed, but the last I saw, Hirst was in some tropical paradise with his dogs.

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Jul 26, 2023 17:37:23 GMT 1, Yellow is now sold out - just the blue left (just tried to get a yellow and was unlucky by minutes apparently). If I was a betting man i'd say that they will probably find more stock that they didn't realise they had left ;-) I had someone buy one for me yesterday around 2 and the person in front of them got a pink that they found so it could happen

Hajime Sorayama 🇯🇵 Sexy Robot • Kaws • Art For Sale , by Poster Bob on Jul 26, 2023 15:19:51 GMT 1, A ridiculous idea that 20% of the run is signed but getting one is due to luck. They simply should have charged extra for the signed ones. I'll also add that the shipping charge to the UK is insanely low at $10 CAD, so take advantage of it now before they correct it. (Or, if you buy don't be surprised if they message you later asking for an extra $75)

Banksy • Cut & Run Posters, by Poster Bob on Jul 26, 2023 15:10:45 GMT 1, Just trying to be informative, but tickets are £15 each, train tickets from London (where many board members live) are prohibitively expensive (I paid £287ish for 2 round-trip tickets), and then add hotel costs on top and this is a very expensive trip for most people. You'd probably be far better off buying them from a Glasgow-based flipper who is going to the exhibit on a daily basis to fill flipping orders on Ebay. Makes sense - was looking through the bay and prices arent that crazy, but figured i'd pose the question here before going that route. I'm pretty confident that it is the cheapest route for you to get what you're after. The flippers raced to rock bottom and instead of stockpiling the merchandise, and then listing it all for sale after the event closes, they're all fighting for £5 net profits over flipping sets of prints while it's still available. Amateurs!

Ai Weiwei Avant Art Releases 2023, by Poster Bob on Jul 26, 2023 11:41:27 GMT 1, It was not "killed off in the name of free speech" unless you're an extreme idealogue. While the company is certainly being driven into the ground due to poor decisions, and a quite shocking rebranding, the intention, whether or not it was properly executed (by someone who at times exerts authoritarian power on the platform), is to all proper discourse. How exactly is the company being driven into the ground? Huge saving have been made cutting staff, with apparently no negative impact on operations, user base is growing, and more sources of income being introduced all of the time. While cutting staff seems a prudent decision for all bloated "tech" companies in this economy all of the reporting I have seen says that YoY revenue is forecast to be down another billion from 2022, that they saw a sharp 50% drop in ad revenue following his takeover, that it still isn't making a profit, and that Fidelity themselves stated it has dropped in value by 50%. In regards to user base it now has to compete with Threads, and the rebrand may cause more churn towards that platform. I find it hard to be positive with that information, but perhaps you're privy to sources that I am not.

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Jul 24, 2023 16:59:49 GMT 1, It’s been clearly stated that a gallerist suggested initial editions of 333 each. Phillips reserved the right to print more and have them signed, but that is dependent on Hirst’s availability and desire to do so, and he’s vacationing. Either way the posters have clearly done their job of paying for the event itself, opening party, etc.

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Jul 24, 2023 14:57:05 GMT 1, I remember buying the Emin posters at the time for £50 too and they are north of 1k to buy now. These DH posters are impressive in the flesh and wouldn't surprise me if they reach 1k in time. When I spoke to them yesterday they said they have been the most sought after of any signed poster that he's ever produced which is why it's one poster per person. Surprising to hear that they are the most sought after. When I was there yesterday lunchtime, I only saw 2 people buying and one of them was me. With the Claridges poster, people were queuing up outside to get them. If they were that popular they would surely have all gone by now. Claridge’s posters were free

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Jul 24, 2023 13:27:25 GMT 1, This is the Hirst magic. 3 pages of chatter on UUA in as many days talking more about these posters than the exhibition itself. People want his works in whatever format they can afford/access them. Nobody is saying a signed poster is a medium with any great intrinsic value in its own right, but when you have a good sized work with an attractive image that is signed on the front, collectors will always want it at the right price. Emin neons come to mind - they were sold at £50 each and were unashamedly posters, rather prints, but peoples still covet them. The Emin posters did not have garish writing on them with the exhibition details. They are also from a popular series, which had never before been released as prints (AFAIK), so I feel that’s an unfair comparison. Hirst’s signed Claridge’s posters aren’t doing much better than at the time of release.

Martin Whatson • Cracked, by Poster Bob on Jul 21, 2023 15:02:21 GMT 1, yes I know about it but I'm only selling it to raise money for a more interesting print (estratega) and I would never sell it for that cheap... Then you’re never going to sell it at all. So you’ll need to get more realistic and competitive, or sell something else.

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Jul 20, 2023 16:05:46 GMT 1, Source: FT. Their website says..."Coast Paintings are oil on canvas and range in size from 30.5 x 30.5 cm to 274.3 x 365.8 cm. Is he really charging 100K for something just a foot square? Crazy prices for crap art. How much do you expect him to charge? 10% of the going amount because it's via HENI? Hirst likes money just as much as everyone else does.

Damien Hirst • Where the Land Meets the Sea, by Poster Bob on Jul 20, 2023 15:39:47 GMT 1, Has anybody heard anything yet? I thought these were available today (20th July). There's nothing on the website about prices or a 'buy now' button. The application is now open. I’m looking for a price before I agree to or fill out anything. They’re all priced at market rates. So don’t apply if you can’t afford anything at primary from Gagosian or White Cube. There is nothing under 6 figures.
