D*FACE BLINK-182, by NYart on Apr 29, 2016 22:51:47 GMT 1, I'm all cool with Mark and Travis doing something new if Tom isn't interested, cooperative, or whatever, regardless of who's to blame for the dysfunction. I just don't think it's right continuing on as Blink. +44 and Boxcar Racer were both 2/3 of blink and they created a new group for it. Kind of seems like they're doing it for the sake of the cash. Mark and Travis' new bands album vs. omg it's the new blink 182 album!!

D*FACE BLINK-182, by NYart on Apr 29, 2016 20:54:15 GMT 1, Pretty awesome collab considering I love blink, id have to buy if there's a print release. Not my favorite from either of them though, can't really consider this a blink-182 album considering its two-thirds of the band, and just seems like a Lichenstein rip off on D*Faces end. I've never really been into Lichenstein either lol. Oh well, cool nonetheless.

In your mind is Art & Politics connected?, by NYart on Apr 22, 2016 15:24:24 GMT 1, Id say the image over all is more important than the messege to me, because if it wasn't at all aesthetically pleasing I wouldn't want it on my walls. Also having a deep messege isn't a 100% necessary for me, I do own pieces that just 'look cool'. However the messege can and has made me pull the trigger on a piece that I probably wouldn't have otherwise. If terrific savings didn't align with my political views I wouldn't have bought it for example. So definitely a balance of the two. Those that are pleasing to the eye and reflect my beliefs are typically among my favorites.

In your mind is Art & Politics connected?, by NYart on Apr 22, 2016 14:33:48 GMT 1, I do have a wall reflective of my political beliefs or at least involving issues that are being debated/influenced by politics.. Two prints from Shepard fairey and a nice zir0 canvas.
Fruits of our labor with Monsanto and GMO's being unregulated despite unknown health risks is ubsurd to me and ties right into terrific savings, the fact that Monsanto has been able to buy the influence necessary to operate with the lack of regulation that they enjoy. Airshell was my first Zir0 piece and it makes me immediately think of the BP deep water horizon spill, and it's frustrating that the oil companies can destroy the environment due to carelessness and lack of concern of the risks involved in their actions. Especially when their making money hand over fist and their better off with the slap on the wrist since their fines are just a drop in the bucket to them. Rather than spending the extra money and taking extra precautions to do the right thing.ย

New 1743 Canvas Edition For Sale Now, by NYart on Apr 15, 2016 23:18:14 GMT 1, It's not like his intention is to rip off others ideas and cash in unlike some artists pumping out variants, rehashing the same basic idea and all. It's an amusing take on some popular pieces, what's the harm in it? Still requires originality and creativity.
Good job 1743

framing a print with glitter on it, by NYart on Apr 2, 2016 19:12:10 GMT 1, Just because it hasn't been said here ... I think one of the jobs a mount/matte can do is to separate art from the glass of a frame
Yeah a mat on top of the print would do the job of a spacer, just make sure it's acid free.

framing a print with glitter on it, by NYart on Apr 2, 2016 16:56:15 GMT 1, Nice! I really loved the print, then I saw his video with the glitter and it just put it over the top. I balked on it trying not to spend the money but definitely will be looking for one in the future.

framing a print with glitter on it, by NYart on Apr 2, 2016 15:01:14 GMT 1, Also in case you aren't aware, make sure anything your using in the frame, whether it is spacers, mounting corners, backboards/mountboard etc, that it is acid free. Unless it specifies it most likely has an acidic pH that will over time discolor your print.

framing a print with glitter on it, by NYart on Apr 2, 2016 14:53:02 GMT 1, You actually always want to leave space between the glass and the print, otherwise you can have a whole range of damage done to the print. The print can stick to the glass and you'll end up ripping ink off if/when you remove it from the frame. You can order framing spacers online or I find them locally at hobby lobby craft store. They stick to the glass and leave 1/16, 1/8, or 1/4 inch between the glass and the print.

Roamcouch ๐ฏ๐ต Ryo Ogawa โข Ukiyo-e painter โข Street Art, by NYart on Apr 1, 2016 2:50:04 GMT 1, We're really excited to be working with Roamcouch again! This Friday April 1st atย Arcadium Galleryย will be the release of "When You Wish Upon A Star - Venice" at 12 noon ESTย 22 Color Screen Print 36 x 24 inches Edition of 100Roamcouch is a curious artist. Technically, he's impressively skilled and would give comparable stencil talents like Logan Hicks a run for their money. But in terms of subject matter and tone, his art has all the sentimental schmaltz and saccharine tweeness of Mr Brainwash. It's this apparent contradiction in Roamcouch's work that I find intriguingly tragic.
You could knock his originality for often sticking with his city theme, but he's talented and produces something of substance not just whatever is popular and will sell. I'm not sure if it was on here or elsewhere but I once read he has health issues that prohibit him from travel and his works of other cities are how he experiences the world, which if accurate is pretty awesome and puts the repetition in some context. But even if not for that, compare him to whatson or chevier maybe but I can't see any similarity to brainwash.
