Javier Calleja ๐ช๐ธ Mรกlaga, Spain โข Drawings โข Sculture, by blerd on Mar 3, 2021 10:35:16 GMT 1, Serious question. Would you say 400% mark up on your Nara plates would be a "great" price? Iโm interested to know what point you are trying to make? My point being that the primary price of any art work is irrelevant to the secondary price. Going on recorded sales or current market value of this particular print it appears to be a "great" price. Very much in the same vain as you Nara plates.
Whats your point?
Ps. sorry for disrupting your sales thread OP. GLWTS.

Sam Durant ๐บ๐ธ Multimedia Artist โข End White Supremacy , by blerd on Feb 20, 2021 18:37:19 GMT 1, Identity politics is a modern plague. It gets nothing done and just divides us. You'd do yourself and the people you proclaim to be allied with a favor if you woke up and stopped calling everyone a Nazi and learned to have polite, restrained conversations about sensitive and important topics. You've made the term white supremacy completely meaningless by bandying it about nonstop for years. bobby the sign says 'end white supremacy' and nothin else mate folks political baggage is ther own issue bruv if ur seein a sign that says 'end white supremacy' and u lose ur marbles then its ur own problem. decent folk have no tiff with ending the belief system that white folk are superior to otha folk, and thats all the sign says mate! aint identity politics mic drop.

Phillips Art Auctions โข New York, Hong Kong & London, by blerd on Dec 4, 2020 15:30:55 GMT 1, I wonder if the astronomical Choose Your Weapon result is due to unknowledgeable investors? On paper it says 1/25 which makes it look super rare, but in reality there were circa 450 of that print released in the various colourways? ....and there's 750 GWB's. CYW is a classic. Rarely see one for sale.

Ai Weiwei Bombs, by blerd on Oct 28, 2020 10:38:06 GMT 1, My understanding is that its definitely an upgrade!
Offset lithograph and Lithography are different things. The latter is an artisan process and the offset has become a mainly used to create posters cheaply.
Lithography was invented in the late eighteenth century, initially using Bavarian limestone as the printing surface. Its invention made it possible to print a much wider range of marks and areas of tone than possible with earlier printmaking relief or intaglio methods. It also made colour printing easier: areas of different colours can be applied to separate stones and overprinted onto the same sheet.
Offset lithography involves printing the image onto an intermediate surface before the final sheet. The process is โoffsetโ because the plate does not come in direct contact with the paper, which preserves the quality of the plate. With offset lithography, the image is reversed twice, and appears on the final sheet the same way round as on the stone or plate.
Fine Art Inkjet print is a Giclee. These will have far more texture and expression than an offset Litho.
A good example is Conor Harringtons Modern Monarchy.

Nina Chanel Abney ๐บ๐ธ Race, Gender, Politics, Homophobia , by blerd on Oct 27, 2020 11:13:54 GMT 1, Anyone waiting on the triptych have a long wait. Single delivered Hi, Thank you for reaching out! We perform a quality check each time we receive a batch of art pieces from production, this is done to guarantee that our products are of the highest possible quality each time we deliver it. Unfortunately, the Peanuts by Nina Chanel Abney - Triptych sets were below our quality standard and had to be sent back which means that we are now waiting for the next batch from production โ these should arrive late next month but we are unfortunately unsure because of the current situation with COVID-19. The waiting time should be from 3 to 4 weeks for us to receive the boards from production, and then from 6 to 8 days from the day we ship the set to you. If you need anything else please do not hesitate to get back to me, I would be more than happy to help! Kind regards, Fabrizio theskateroom.com/product/peanuts-by-nina-chanel-abney-triptych Hi, do you have any contact with these guys. I paid for these in September and haven't heard a word!? I've tried emailing, phoning and Instagram DM not one response. I'm getting a little peeved.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by blerd on Oct 7, 2020 12:07:07 GMT 1, Anyone up for a guesstimate on a U/s RC? Wouldn't mind knowing this myself 6-8 weeks ago it was around ยฃ40k. Now, honestly no idea. It always used to sit near to Laugh Now in value but that seems to have exploded and it was always more expensive than Barcode but again that has shot up recently.
Yeah historically condition plays a big factor too. Imagined it to be 70-ยฃ75k

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by blerd on Oct 4, 2020 10:36:13 GMT 1, Very much colour dependent. A khaki sold recently at ยฃ95k. Where and when did that sell? After the gold and silver colours, I would say khaki is one of the best colours and looks amazing. ยฃ95k sounds like a bargain at todayโs banksy valuations. Khaki and olive have historically traded below the brighter ones.

Banksy Sale End V2, Jack and Jill Signed, Placard u/s 4 sale, by blerd on Sept 24, 2020 12:21:01 GMT 1, Makes sense, Girl With Balloon, Laugh Now and LIITA are all circa 2003. Getting on for 20 years old. I dont totally agree. I dont see an U/S rude copper going for the same prices and suspect there are even fewer of these in good condition out there now. RC is a better image than LIITA in my opinion but its not politically correct, so maybe the reason why its not so popular. As has been pointed out a few times, its image based but on a global level. For example, WSM, HMV, RC, Very Little Helps are, i would say very much linked to the UK. We all get it but someone outside the UK isnt going to get the humour behind these images. These images are not commanding the same prices of some of the more generic images. Well, not yet.... I agree apart from RC which I think is in a league of its own. RC is an absolute classic IMO. Mint US must be up there in pricing I'd say. Just the fact its Banksy's first print and the poor paper it was printed on should command a premium. Looking at recent auction results it was gaining traction even before this recent surge in pricing.

Banksy Copyrightยฉ & Trademarkโข, by blerd on Sept 17, 2020 9:17:46 GMT 1, I'm not sure what actual difference this makes in the real world as all the images have been regularly pillaged, and the official works have always needed a COA from pest control.
Interesting development though.

The Connor Brothers ๐ฌ๐ง Mike Snelle & James Golding, by blerd on Sept 4, 2020 14:36:31 GMT 1, Hi All Have been a reader of these forums for some time but first post. . .so hello. Can someone enlighten me more on the Connor Brothers. I understand the whole backstory, more their process. The pulp fiction illustrations โ are these simply enlarged blow ups nicked off book covers or painted copies. Or are they original takes on the style? They then throw a slogan on them from one of their fave books? To me they seem very derivative and itโs shame some of the original artwork by pulp illustrators doesnโt get much attention. For example I love a lot of the stuff of Michael Johnson illustration and similar artsists at levergallery.com/collections/michael-johnson . Some of the old book covers are great too โ Look at the Peter Cheyney books on ebay. Considering doing some pieces on these myself or simply enlarging for my own walls. In a similar vein the Harland Miller stuff maybe? The original Pelican book covers (and titles!) from the 60s were great too. www.thingsmagazine.net/projects/1960s/index.htmI suppose you could most artists are influences similar and itโs all very post modern etcโฆ just a shame that the originals are forgotten so much. Some of the 60s illustrators were amazing. Any just my thoughts and interested in peoples view points Thanks PL Whoa! Thats a long lurk!

Boom: Mad Money, Mega Dealers, and the Rise of Contemporary , by blerd on Aug 30, 2020 9:06:55 GMT 1, just finished listening to this book. I enjoyed it alot and i think most of you will too. Alot of threads here talk about art and money, Or rather money and art. you will recogonise some of the names, players and some will be new, but heres a link and a bit of the book copied from amazon. and for you twats, No i do not get a commission if you buy one. But Please subscribe to my youtube channel and give me more likes. j/k. "The meteoric rise of the largest unregulated financial market in the world-for contemporary art-is driven by a few passionate, guileful, and very hard-nosed dealers. They can make and break careers and fortunes. The contemporary art market is an international juggernaut, throwing off multimillion-dollar deals as wealthy buyers move from fair to fair, auction to auction, party to glittering party. But none of it would happen without the dealers-the tastemakers who back emerging artists and steer them to success, often to see them picked off by a rival. Dealers operate within a private world of handshake agreements, negotiating for the highest commissions. Michael Shnayerson, a longtime contributing editor to Vanity Fair, writes the first ever definitive history of their activities. He has spoken to all of today's so-called mega dealers-Larry Gagosian, David Zwirner, Arne and Marc Glimcher, and Iwan Wirth-along with dozens of other dealers-from Irving Blum to Gavin Brown-who worked with the greatest artists of their times: Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, and more. This kaleidoscopic history begins in the mid-1940s in genteel poverty with a scattering of galleries in midtown Manhattan, takes us through the ramshackle 1950s studios of Coenties Slip, the hipster locations in SoHo and Chelsea, London's Bond Street, and across the terraces of Art Basel until today. Now, dealers and auctioneers are seeking the first billion-dollar painting. It hasn't happened yet, but they are confident they can push the price there soon." www.amazon.com/Boom-Money-Mega-Dealers-Contemporary/dp/1610398408looking forward to discussing it with you guys w after you read or listen to it. I've read too. fantastic book.
