Antony Micallef Print Release - Portrait of Francis Bacon, by Bram on Aug 7, 2024 11:23:45 GMT 1, Love it. I wonder if the inspiration was to paint the portrait of Bacon in a Bacon style? To me it looks more like a painting of Freud by Bacon rather than a painting of Bacon by Freud.

Labour V Conservative , by Bram on Jul 4, 2024 10:51:22 GMT 1, Against the old adage of never talk about money, politics, religion or back door prints, my two pennies worth is to exercise your right to vote. Large swaths of the world don’t so please do.
Politics and our political beliefs are full of contradiction and as you get older the shades of grey are more vibrant than any of the other colours, however your gut probably knows best and should your gut need attention, better to have a smaller waiting list to see a doctor.

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Bram on Oct 5, 2023 22:01:52 GMT 1, How does this heni release compare to the current counter edition one that’s available? I know the counter edition one is 150 signed editions and screenprint but it’s smalller and no choice in terms of images. What’s better do you guys think? For edition size and dimensions (Heni bigger / Counter smaller edition) they are about 50/50 but image wise Heni wins hands down. The Counter is a screenprint though! Probably need to take off £500 off the Heni for the framing. But they both make the Secession release look like a real bargain which was huge, a great image and lowish edition at half the price.

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Bram on Oct 5, 2023 11:59:50 GMT 1, A great image Alpinist but a giclee for $20k phew! Correct and correct :-) but there’s a bargain version for $3500. Love Doig and these are great images from the recent Courtauld exhibition but my pockets are not deep enough I’m afraid. Would love the Alpinist and Alice.

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Bram on Apr 11, 2023 11:44:04 GMT 1, I had only really seen Doig's work on a computer screen, my wife used to work for the Courtauld so we always get invited along to Donors events as she knows most of them well and the Courtauld really do look after people, even ex employees. It was a fantastic exhibition, the scale of things and the colour is just amazing. There is a very very recently completed piece there (think curator shitting themselves on the afternoon with a hole on the wall because Doig was finishing it in his studio). They are proper transports to another place, I have to say seeing them in the flesh certainly made me think of Doig with much more regard than I did previously having only seen on screen. It’s his normal practice to work on several pieces at once so it was probably a nervous wait for several works. Fascinating watching the transition from location and composition from different times and places in the one painting.

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by Bram on Mar 31, 2023 17:03:14 GMT 1, Why do Heni insist on producing their editions via these questionable methods. High gloss composite or digitally printed stretched canvases... immediate turn off... Can't they just do an edition on high quality paper stock for once (even the Currency UP's were on relatively shoddy stock by all accounts)... don't understand... maybe vista print are doing them

New Harland Miller Hz So Good, 2022, by Bram on Feb 23, 2023 9:51:49 GMT 1, There’s already a couple on eBay. There were better images at the White Cube show but bet it’ll still look great framed up. Fair price too: Looks like they are trying to sell their place in the queue - a new low !

New Harland Miller Hz So Good, 2022, by Bram on Feb 22, 2023 14:13:29 GMT 1, As a big fan it Hz to say it but the ball was in the 6 yard box and the goalie was tying his boot laces and yet he still managed to miss an open goal. You could pick any page from that book and it would be a no brainer print. Who is advising / decision making ? Harland? Phaidon? Manifold ? WC?

Harland Miller 3 WISHES 4 EVER, by Bram on Jan 13, 2023 17:05:33 GMT 1, Reminds me of when people buy clothing with a massive logo on so people know who made it. Would look far better without the large Harland Miller letters. I’m a big Miller fan but have to agree with that.
