BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by Daniel Silk on Nov 23, 2008 2:54:59 GMT 1, Silky are you saying it's fixed? Are not all the 289 prints available to Joe public and there might be insider trading ect?
No, not at all Just want to make that clear!
Im just saying that if the order system has security holes in it, and a group of people are exploiting it then its not fair on the rest of us. For all we know when Nola was released our chances of getting one could have actually been zero

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by Deleted on Nov 23, 2008 3:01:55 GMT 1, Sorry Silky i thought i misunderstood your post a bit, why don't they do a loyalty card and you can only buy (or have a chance of buying) a Banksy if you have purchased at least 40% of prints release that year (tboy . and you have never sold a Banksy on eBay and you have posted on the forum a few times 6 moths before the release.

I dont know about scare mongering I think people are just worried that it might not be a fair playing field. I dont have a clue how these ordering systems work, but we do have some very knowledgeable people on here and if they think the system has holes in its security then I would not see any reason for them to make it up.

You just have to look how many views the 'Banksy Nola' thread got to release how many people were after the print. We're taking thousands upon thousands for 289 prints.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by snapwolfe on Nov 23, 2008 4:45:46 GMT 1, in a way, i used a script to get mine... i use firefox and they have an add-on that does auto refreshing every 5 seconds. you still have to keep watching the screen and stop the refresh if you see the buy button and click the buy button. the only real advantage is that you save your finger repetitive stress syndrome. but your eyes still start to glaze over.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by raiden on Nov 23, 2008 8:23:56 GMT 1, I have tried to build a better mouse trap for getting prints and looked into it with my tech staff before deciding fuck it out of laziness.
Yes, you can program scripts. Yes, you can draw on multiple IPs. Yes you can reroute your IP - basically full automation of prints is entirely possible depending on how advanced you want to get - as I sat down with a programming staff to launch my personal art collecting Manhattan project, but decided it wasn't worth the hassel - honestly, if Banksy and Laz are going to be so dumb as to continue putting out sub 300 editions for under ยฃ500... I will relaunch what I was considering in order to make the roughly $40K that you could make by running scripts on 10 zombie machines over multiple servers.
Frankly, for the differential in the aftermarket and the offering price, its actually worth it to hire out an Indian development house and servers to snipe huge blocks of pieces... because at this small edition size, you actually can manipulate the market price as a market maker with only 10 prints in hand... the most annoying aspect of it all would be registering 10 - 20 different named business credit cards and mailing addresses to achieve this - not the most insurmountable problem.
And frankly, unless POW wise up to it, this sort of gross profiteering will start happening because there is just too much money to be made off this HUMONGOUS discrepancy between the offering price and the demand for the print. (granted ยฃ3K for a 'Nola' still strikes me as high and the result of market manipulation and some very bullish speculators, but I see 'Nola' staying around ยฃ1,7-2,2K in January before beginning a steady, gradual increase assuming the current glacial release schedule of Banksy)

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by Gentle Mental on Nov 23, 2008 8:56:09 GMT 1, Apologies for my scaremongering rant, but if it's a fact, then it needs to be addressed.
It's depressing to think only a tiny fraction goes to the old school f5ers. whilst a huge chunk are sold at prices which never meant to be.
if this carries on, Banksy might as well sell them at market prices. because right now, the proftis are going into making industrial strength touts even stronger.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by veralynn on Nov 23, 2008 8:57:16 GMT 1, Surely not all of the 289 prints are available to the 'public', would it be safe to assume that numbers 1-20 or so are already in the hands of POW staff and mates of Mr B?
I'm sure POW staff take a print of every release they do for this would could towards their non contributory / contributory pension scheme - I'd love someone to have a really, really low number and be proved wrong here.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by G-Man on Nov 23, 2008 9:06:20 GMT 1, I haven't read all the posts on this thread but it seems to me that there are lots of rumours of back door ways to get prints from POW and the use of refreshers
I scored on both Trolleys and S&S but didn't on Nola
Its a bit luck of the draw I reckon but I do agree that some people with auto refreshers and teams of ppl doing and being paid to do it on super fast computers is def gonna mop up the prints
I dont think there is an answer whilst POW release in this way but S&S was dropped with no warning or email last year and was much better
The fact that they sent the email warning ppl let the flippers set up their multiple connections etc and that melted down the system
Even so it seems that some got one with no server/scipts help so fair play to them
I now have an auto refresher for my computer at home but it seems that I'm always on my work computer when a Banksy is released so it wont help me!!
At the end of the day some you win and some you lose
Finally POW could easily pin down some of the multiple pyrchasers with a little investigation but clearly they profit hugely from not.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by raiden on Nov 23, 2008 9:07:31 GMT 1, Frankly I think that this print release may start a veritable arms war of people getting scripts, multiple servers, etc. as I've been noticing growing discontent with the means of print releases.

No, you're wrong. You have had a couple of people on this thread confirm the existance of scripts and the fact is they do exist. So get over you're own assertion that they don't, which is based purely on supposition from your own lack of knowledge.
Stick to platitudes and emoticons. You're on safer ground.

I would be really surprised if it is even as low as only 20, although to be honest i think it's fair game. All jobs need the odd perk!!! Mine was in the low 60s, not heard o anyone with a lower number. (achieed through good old fashioned f5ing)
