BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by ยฉhief' on Nov 23, 2008 12:29:17 GMT 1, I'm not sure I buy in to all this script talk. I've managed to bag every Banksy print I've gone for - Applause, Morons, Trolleys and Nola all scored with persistent refreshing of the page and a hell of a lot of luck! Applause I got from a "backdoor" link posted on this forum, Sepia Morons was bagged the day after it was released and only after about 6 hours on the F5 and missing the 'add to basket' numerous times. Trolleys (unsigned) was easy after missing the signed edition, and Nola was pure luck, sat down to have my breakfast (day after release again!), switched mac on, went to POW and the 'add to basket' was there! You don't need any fancy software or scripts, you just need a steady F5 trigger finger, and good old lady luck on your side.
Good luck next time!!!!

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by BunnyBoiler on Nov 23, 2008 12:39:54 GMT 1, Sorry BONGO but I don't like the lottery/Fair Q system at all.. I tried that with Faile and never managed to get anything ever... At least with the F5 I get a chance to get some and lose some.
What does the script do exactly? Can't POW add something to prevent scripts from working like adding a verification code when you get a print by registering to the site or something like that before you buy.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by BunnyBoiler on Nov 23, 2008 12:51:25 GMT 1, what makes someone who has put the time and effort to set up a computer script less worthy of a print than someone pressing f5 every few seconds? what if the script guy puts it on his wall and the f5 guy puts it on ebay? hmmmmmmmmm
A script is not fair... there is no effort involved. Its cheating and make you less worthy.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by Happy Shopper on Nov 23, 2008 13:02:30 GMT 1, I don't like Fair Q, but maybe that's because I never win anything! I was lucky this time, no script involved, but maybe won't be next time. Who knows.
Bongo, I'm confused by your attitude. Saying it's not a good image, but bitter because you wanted one for your collection!? Seems wrong to me.

When I buy music from a particular artist I will buy all the albums released. I want the entire collection weather I like the album or not, its becuase I like the artist.
Same goes for artists and their artwork.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by snausages on Nov 23, 2008 18:22:24 GMT 1, Oh, and then not authenticate pieces that change hands! That would effectively murder the flipping market if you want to get down to it, but clearly that's not the intention. Not authenticate them? All you have to do is anyone who purchases a Nola on ebay within six months of the sale date send POW an email with the print number and a photo of it and they will probably be blacklisted. Simple as that. Then the tout and his chumps in India have to set up another 10 credit cards and addresses. Of course that's not insurmountable but a serious pain in the ass for something that only happens once (or if you're real lucky) twice a year.
My worry is that all this persistent talk on the forum about scripts โ which in my opinion is 99% BS โ is going to encourage a whole lot of people that may not have previously given it much thought to actually start thinking about it. Thanks for bringing this to every ones attention Bongo!
I still don't think this script myth had anything to do with this releaseโthe problem is that you have several thousand people gunning for about 250 available prints. And I keep seeing story after story on the forum of people who got the print via luck or serious refreshing skills. I don't mean to gloat but I was able to get one in my cart twice. (No I didn't buy two) And I used no scripts.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by wiz on Nov 23, 2008 18:33:22 GMT 1, Disorganisation. If i were to say it was me who stole it from your basket would that give you satisfaction and possibly closure on this? because although i did not steal it (as i did not try for one because i did not like it much and had a train to London to catch) i am willing to be pilloried so that you can move on in life. You are welcome to hate me if it will make you feel better.

What's the point of being so rude Mr Wizbong, I am in a thread where people are talking about scripts and underhand shenanigans etc.
Unlike you I did like the print and did not have train to catch, I was lucky enough to get one, then for it to disappear when processing to payment.
I am just trying to understand how I can get a print in my basket with an order number, fill in my details (in less than a minute) and then proceed to payment for it to disappear. Is that not a fair question to ask as I supsect it did not just happen to me and also a forum member on here stated that it was probably nicked from my cart by some sort of script.
So thank you for your kind and informative comments.

BONGO CALL FOR ACTION, by Daniel Silk on Nov 24, 2008 18:58:46 GMT 1, Official statement from POW regarding the release:
We would like to apologise to the people who received a refund on Thursday. Our database was overwhelmed with people adding to basket at exactly the same time & a small number of prints were allocated twice. The small number of prints that became available on Friday were related to something else & clearly those prints should never have been made available. As a result all of those orders on Friday have now been refunded. We extend our apologies to those customers as well. We have been able to to re-allocate all the prints from Friday's refunds & prints destined for Ebay sellers to customers who were refunded on Thursday. We hope to cover all the people who were refunded Thursday but if we don't they will be offered the opportunity to buy a Banksy print in the future. We thank you for your continued support & understanding. Best regards Simon@picturesonwalls.com
