Bad Man, by CR on Nov 4, 2007 23:41:10 GMT 1, What a complete tit this guy is. Nice to know he's obviously a forum member as well Let's hope POW do the decent thing and blacklist him... Amen. Think the flipping think has reached a new level in this release in that, with previous releases, the swines have waiting to at least get their sticky mitts on the print before they list to sell. Now, many blatant flippers have become so arrogant in their activity that they're not even waiting for the print to arrive. Would be nice for POW to send out a message that they will do what they can to stop this.
I think its more to do with the passage of time and the new people flipping. Back after Grannies was released and Applause, POW made sure people knew they would be watching ebay and taking action, so people waited until they had them and then listed them without the numbers!
since Micallefs GIWTBB and the Laz prints, more people have got wind of making a quick buck and they just don't care.
If I was POW, and I cared about the flippers, then I would be buying up all these auctions and getting their address details!

Bad Man, by shavemysoul on Nov 4, 2007 23:49:02 GMT 1, True CR. Well there doesn't seem much for them to do on this one. Just check the details which we can all see and cancel the order. I hope POW still do care about their customers. I was pleased to see a big edition size for Trolleys, and a fair price... let's hope the after sales service aint bad either.

Bad Man, by shavemysoul on Nov 5, 2007 0:34:23 GMT 1, He will get banned and he won't get his print. POW hate people flogging their prints before they get them. Imagine being that person though, they had scored a right family airloom with that 150 edition and through their own actions have just lost it pretty much straight away. Ouch. That must hurt. So those people that have been tempted to buy a trollies this week just be careful, There is no good reason to believe someone will actually be sent their print in the end.
Amen to that FPR. I wouldn't buy from anyone until the prints have been shipped by POW and the seller is prepared to show you pics proving they clearly have the print. In fact I wouldn't buy from an eBay flipper now anyway. Swines. This one got caught with his proverbial pants down...

Not sure why he's bothering going to all that effort. POW now have screen shots linking his print and details to an eBay auction on the same print. One big waste of effort. I hope he/she F5-ed for days...

Bad Man, by finsburyparkranger on Nov 5, 2007 0:43:17 GMT 1, ;D I thought I would delete my post and not rub their nose in it but the thing to remember everyone is wait till the prints are in the hands before you start negotiating with the buggers that stole one from under your nose only to try to flog it to you the next day. Have patience, the price will drop like a stone. Also don't start shelling out at the 1.5k mark for a 750 colour edition, let the price get to a grand before you start buying, you'll kick yourself otherwise. These large editions really will take a long time to find good homes and during that period lots of sellers will realise getting 1k back in there bank account (and making ยฃ575 profit) is actually a good idea.

Bad Man, by mwjm0 on Nov 5, 2007 0:50:47 GMT 1, what a sorry bunch of snitches. i hope POW send the guy the print. i would be amazed if they didn't. just because you would have kept it and hung it on the wall does not entitle you to make judgements and decisions on what others should do. there's a lot more to be angry about than some guy getting lucky and making a profit. why would POW be bothered whether the guy sold it tomorrow or in twelve months? what difference does whether he has the print or not make if someone is willing to buy it off him?

they make jokes about 'getting your fake ebay accounts ready' on their website so i'm sure it doesn't bother them that much. It makes no sense to get angry about someone selling a print straight off as opposed to keeping it for months/years and then selling. at what point is it acceptable to sell? hounding one individual when there are hundreds of banksy prints on ebay every month is childish and stupid.

looking at the pragmatics for a moment, because he won't get it and some poor sod shelling out more than they have likewise won't get it. maybe for that reason?

Bad Man, by finsburyparkranger on Nov 5, 2007 1:06:26 GMT 1, Its certainly not acceptable to sell a print before you already have it according to POW. When they refered to fake ebay accounts, I read it at the time as a double edged sword comment. If you make a small bid on seller you can get to see there details. Whilst fake ebay accounts are used by those wanting flip prints, they can also be used to spy on those that want to flip prints. I'd be s**tting it if i had a print for sale right now personally, hiding the number or not.

agreed in terms of bringing in personal info and links totally. if as to why you'd ask to have his print cancelled? cos his mentality has put banksy out the reach of many fans who have followed him before bonnie and clyde here snuff wind of him.

but the person buying knows that the seller does not have the print in hand. no-one is forcing anyone to do anything. if a buyer is happy only to bid on an item the seller has in hand then they can wait for this to be the case.

I actually read it as just the interpretation you've elaborated upon here... but you're prob right... POW humour probably intended it to be slightly ironic.

Bad Man, by jam on Nov 5, 2007 1:10:11 GMT 1, Threating messages, really?! It isn't a witch hunt, and its not about snitching. There are loads of people on the forum who want prints to hang and they should have the right to purchase them at original cost over some asshole that is out to make a profit. We are infested with flippers so take advantage of the information on this forum and they should be brought to light. POW have said openly that while the selling of prints after purchase isn't something that they are overly concerned about if it happens down the line... that the selling of prints BEFORE you even have them pisses them off.

Personally, since I'm actually selling something listed at around the same time as this guys auction went up... my thought on it is this... there is a fundamental difference between purchasing something with the intention to use it in some way and purchasing something with the intention to profit from its sale. It does get a lot of people's back up, and that aside (without becoming too much of a t**t about it) is basically counterpoint to much of the message in much of this kind of art in itself, namely democratisation - think thats the right word. Not all company's are it in purely for the cash... this is simply very evident from the BIN prices and the POW prices, so it is clear that they do really get narked by this, if anyone profits from the demand it should be the artist or the collector, imho, not a tout.
I'm selling something because I no longer have the wall space, due to having a new print (and only a small house!) to hang and because I could do with a little cash back in the pot (sure I could put it in a cupboard, but then someone else could put it on their wall)... at the same time, I will let the demand for the piece dictate the value, not some arbitrary BIN cash-in price.
