THE CAGE OF THE BODY TO THE SOUL (New Sandra Chevrier print), by sgolby on Nov 30, 2016 20:26:54 GMT 1, I see the Beauty Police are out in force again. Telling us where our parts should be.
Not at all. I said i don't like it, not you shouldn't like it. My main point was about giclee vs screen print, in that somehow, to me, screen print seems a bit more authentic and worth the price. S

THE CAGE OF THE BODY TO THE SOUL (New Sandra Chevrier print), by sgolby on Nov 30, 2016 18:48:42 GMT 1, I am just going to go ahead and say it. I am not a fan of her style. That said, when the screenprint versions are released, I find them more appealing, I don't understand how a giclee print can cost more than a screen print. I mean I get that her value is rising, but $400 for essentially an inkjet print seems insane to me. That's just me though.

Kaws Piranhas When You're Sleeping Print, by sgolby on Nov 30, 2016 18:27:19 GMT 1, The last one was a set of 3 prints, so 15K divided by 3 is 5k. The last one was a large, limited print starting at $15k. Ah yes, Isolation tower, My apologies I forgot about this. I was thinking about the snoopy tryptic. This one was both twice the size and only an edition of 50. I am pretty sure this is why the price was high. Thanks for jogging my memory!

Kaws Piranhas When You're Sleeping Print, by sgolby on Nov 30, 2016 18:14:19 GMT 1, 18k!!!! How the f did we get here. Wasn't the one just before the last one $3400. So the lat one was a bigger size....ok charge a little more but 15k and now 18k Street art is supposed to be enjoyed by the masses for free, I understand that the prints are a way to enjoy the art ar home so demands a premium but when we get to a point when the art can only be enjoyed by the elite somewhere the "street" idea is very much lost Plus the image sucks The last one was a set of 3 prints, so 15K divided by 3 is 5k.

Kaws Piranhas When You're Sleeping Print, by sgolby on Nov 30, 2016 18:00:35 GMT 1, Similar size and edition but a third of the price. Seems a little strange. They must be tiered and they'll probably get to 15k pretty quickly. Where did that 5k number come from? Just makes no sense... Posters and prints blog is quoting that number but it is a guess not confirmed.

New Lazarides GAllery Dedicated to Banksy Prints, by sgolby on Nov 29, 2016 21:06:49 GMT 1, Not sure if this has been posted, but here again just in case...

Banksy’s coming to South Bank in the form of Lazarides new Gallery!
Tuesday 29th of November 2016
Lazarides is about to add to your South Bank experience by opening a new gallery dedicated to Banksy prints! The gallery will be called "Banksy Print Gallery" and will be primarily selling secondary market Banksy Prints.
So, let's time-warp back and recap on the connection Lazarides gallery has with Banksy. It all started in the early 1990's, Steve Lazarides was working at a photoshoot for Sleaze Nation magazine and he met Banksy. Steve went on to work with Banksy for a number of years and this helped create the buzz and controversy around "street art" that we know today.
Over the years Banksy art has become more and more popular, with several artists trying to copy his work and murals being located all over the globe. The "Banksy Print Gallery" will simply be celebrating his work and offering the public the chance to buy his prints. All of this, just in time for Christmas.
In the words of Steve Lazarides, "This gallery will sell secondary market Banksy prints and will also have a collection of my photographs from our time together, as well as displaying ephemera from the period."
The gallery itself opens to the public Friday 2nd (December 2016).
Address: 22 Upper Ground, London, SE1 9PD (The gallery is based in the Mondrian London hotel)
Opening Times: Tuesday–Saturday 11am–7pm Admission is free

Space Invader FRAMED, by sgolby on Nov 27, 2016 21:19:21 GMT 1, Got this bad boy in 2014 from ADAPP, and finally got it framed and hung. I went with a simple black frame with green inlay since I thought the print was busy enough without a colored matt or bright frame:

JASON ZENGA/DARKCITY SCAMMER, by sgolby on Jul 25, 2016 15:37:26 GMT 1, Dear fellow Forumites, As many of you have read, there is a THIEF among us. He has gone by many names on various forums, most recently on this forum darkcity. He had a bogus gallery named Art Asylum Boston. Most recently he ripped off a young man in Tokyo to the tune of $15,000. Given that reign is in Tokyo, and paid by wire transfer he has very little recourse, I have chosen to help him in trying to get some justice. In addition, in researching this guy, I have come across numerous reports of him stealing, lying, scamming, and selling counterfeit goods. I have sought legal council, and Reign and I have discussed that we believe at this point the best course of action would be to report him to the FBI, on wire fraud, and possibly sales of counterfeit goods, depending on the verdict of a well known artist.
For those of you that want to read more about this particular instance of theft, please see the thread below:
urbanartassociation.com/thread/140476/jason-zenga-running-silkscreen-darkcity
I realize that this may not be the correct thread, but want it to also serve as a warning to anyone doing any type of transaction with this fellow. His name is Jason Zenga, or at least this was the name registered to the phone number he gave, he had Reign transfer the money to a woman's account named Nicole Francis, and gave the email for a James Dakin.
If you have had bad dealings, and lost money or were sold counterfeit goods by any of these three names, please contact me via pm, and I will advise how to proceed. This is not a witch hunt, so unless you are willing to provide details and original documentation of the interaction, please do not reach out to me.
Regards S

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by sgolby on Jul 17, 2016 14:24:09 GMT 1, I have spoken to Reign via PM. I am going to speak to my attorney tomorrow. If anyone has any stories and the proif to back it up, i.e. Emails, pm's, tramsaction receipts and actual fakes. Please message me. I am going to take him to task for this, and it would be helpful to have backup from other experiences to achieve a positive judgment. S

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by sgolby on Jul 17, 2016 13:27:14 GMT 1, A lawyer will in the end cost you more than the prints. Use a collection agent to harass him.
We don't have those here in the us. he needs to file a criminal complaint but as he is not in the us, he will need an attorney or someone with a notarized (at the us consulate) Power of Attorney to file for him.

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by sgolby on Jul 17, 2016 13:10:57 GMT 1, Surely there is enough evidence here now for reign to take legal action against him. He is a big time fraudster and this is not an isolated case. Failing that, there are plenty of people willing to help out for a fee.
There certainly is, and it should be done. reign, you should contact a lawyer in the US, actually in whatever state he lives in. Pm if you need help figuring it out.

Miss the good ol' days, by sgolby on Jul 17, 2016 5:39:20 GMT 1, Is one PoV - i know why I'm reluctant to contribute anymore and it's nothing to do with other commitments. I feel bad towards the community for not sharing many things I've been up to lately but some individuals are more concerned with having powers and have no regard or appreciation for that at all. They just make snide comments to deflect their behaviour while dragging up all sorts of garbage in a poor attempt to make it look busy or stimulate discussion. And in turn this drags down the whole attitude of the forum and encourages newbies to abuse and consume giving very little back
I am not an oldie but have been fairly active over the past few years. There was a moment, right around when invader did the alladin sane print that this place became toxic. I feel like we allowed it to, instead of posting s**t that was positive and interesting we either went away or got dragged in. Not saying it was that moment, but i feel kike we each had one. I for one want this spot to be about discovering and learning.
I was at a store in Milan the other day and this guy that collects and sells vintage watches looked at my watch and told me the crown was not original. I looked unmoved he asked me where the watch was from, i told him it was my father's. He said you're never going to sell it, i said no, first i am a collector, second it was my father's most prized possesion and f*****g beautiful. He said, you love it... Priceless. Collecting is about love of the art and the discovery of it all. This place should be about that, not profit.
A true collector cries when he buys and laughs when he sells.
