The next US President? Clinton or Trump, by sgolby on Jul 5, 2016 21:49:52 GMT 1, Good thing you're not a us citizen and can't participate in the upcoming election Clinton will be bad for Europe and also panders to rich lobyists. If elected considering her campaign and other donations she will be repaying favours through her term as President and not working for the people. Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong.
Europe is bad for Europe, in that they are unable to actually work as a body to to pass guidelines that are acceptable to all nations. The Euro currency transition was horribly mismanaged by the nations and has exacerbated the underlying issues that exist within the E.U and E.E.C, i.e entitlement and austerity reform to fit the size of the populace as opposed to idealistic policies which were put into place 60 years ago. Please elaborate on why Hillary will be bad for Europe, as opposed to issuing a trump length accusation with zero backup.
If elected ANY AND EVERY official panders to the lobbyists and special interests with enough money and power to gain facetime and argue their cause. Further, if you understood American politics you would know that the President is virtually powerless in terms of enacting any real policy. Their power comes from the bully pulpit, but the real work is done, or unfortunately in our case, not done by the congress and senate. The president sets the tone, or at least tries to and does what he or she can in order to rally support to their cause.
@ploppi, might I ask where you are from?

The next US President? Clinton or Trump, by sgolby on Jul 5, 2016 20:52:22 GMT 1, Clinton. Hands down the best option, and despite my primary vote for Sanders, I actually believe Clinton would make a better president anyway. Trump panders to the base ignorance of this country while at the same time being the embodiment of the crooked system that is in place in the US that protects companies and individual owners of companies above all else. They like to call it Capitalism however it is not Capitalism, whatsoever.

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by sgolby on Jun 30, 2016 2:48:24 GMT 1, They put pieces direct into auction from studio - so they are selling product... hence auction houses obeying Pest control would not be in violation of anti trust laws in the US either. They are not selling product. They are providing a service that maintains a registry of intellectual property.
Didn't know that.

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by sgolby on Jun 29, 2016 20:25:28 GMT 1, Fair points about banksy still being alive, I imagine he would get involved personally if a real threat of a lawsuit arose. Unfortunatly, the abilitys of PC would have no effect on an antitrust lawsuit. It's a concept that based on the principle that no one company can be the sole source for goods/services. I have no idea about the UK antitrust laws, but in the US authentication boards are a fairly clear violation.

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by sgolby on Jun 29, 2016 14:43:21 GMT 1, PC is very good, in that they will remove a print from circulation even if there is just a doubt about it's Authenticity. I had one which they could not confirm was produced with the original screen, after both printer and banksy reviewed it, despite the provenance being stellar. My point is, they are incredibly thorough, so i would assume their ability to defend themselves against litigation would be strong.

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by sgolby on Jun 10, 2016 14:24:50 GMT 1, After a long wait, and several communications back and forth, PC has reached a verdict regarding my work. They have been incredibly diligent in making sure their verdict was correct. Unfortunately for me my print was ruled not an original. Despite this matter taking an incredibly long time to close, I must say that I am very happy that they took the time and necessary steps to ensure their verdict was correct. Thanks to all for your help and feedback.
On a side note, this print was purchased on Artnet, and seemed legit given all of the paperwork, however without a COA from PC. I am not claiming that Artnet is in the business of selling fakes, however I would like to warn you all that just because everything seems in order, i.e. original purchase receipt from show, a personal guarantee from the site, and so on, it may still not be a legit edition.
All told, while the ordeal took a very long time to resolve, PC is not at fault and has gone above and beyond in this case, and I am very appreciative of the service they have provided me, as well as their generosity given that this has taken so long to resolve.

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by sgolby on Dec 7, 2015 23:05:10 GMT 1, I have never had any issues dealing with them. My previous two Banksy's were handled very quickly, and as I said, in the beginning they were great about keeping me in the loop. Now, however I haven't heard from them in a few months and am getting worried. Glad to know they are still up and running, hopefully they will respond to me someday...

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by sgolby on Nov 19, 2015 17:46:25 GMT 1, I have had an authentication request open for over a year, and PC was really great about keeping me up to date. Then around the time Dismaland started, they kind of fell off the face of the earth, and have not gotten back to me. I don't care that it has taken so long, or that it will still take time, I just want to know that they are still up and running, and that my print is still in their care, and that they are still investigating.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by sgolby on Mar 14, 2015 20:44:46 GMT 1, Was walking through an art fair in London this afternoon.ย Didn't love much that was there, but then I came upon this artist Nathan Ford, who I was not at all familiar with.ย His work is absolutely beautiful.ย I had such a visceral reaction to this piece that I had to buy it on the spot: Stress Management Lovely piece. Congrats
Thanks fed, and thanks Dungle. S

Pest control , tipping point, by sgolby on Mar 13, 2015 19:11:16 GMT 1, I have had several experiences with PC, and they do take time to answer sometimes. However in my experience if you are polite and patient they eventually get back to you. Personally I prefer that they take their time to get something right rather than dismiss it as fake or real, and then have to retract. Hahaha "if you are polite and patient" -they eventually get back to you. Oh! Better polite and patient, than rude and impatient, or just plain short and snippy...

Pest control , tipping point, by sgolby on Mar 13, 2015 19:10:37 GMT 1, I've deal with PC a couple of times the last few months: 1. In November I had two prints submitted for authentication/COA through the website on the 12th (they send an automated email immediately indicating receipt of request) and by the 17th they sent me an email notifying the verification and provided payment information for the COAs. A week later I had the certs in the mail across the pond. 2 weeks from beginning to end. 2. Last month I submitted a request for a change of ownership for two prints that already had COAs. The request was submitted through the PC site on the 7th (automated email confirming receipt of request) and by the 16th they sent out an email to both me (as buyer) and the seller for us to confirm that the purchase and sale had indeed taken place (this should really be standard practice for any authentication at this point). By the 18th a follow up email was sent to let me know that the transfer of ownership in their database has been updated. Less than 2 weeks from beginning to end. In both incidences, they have been nothing but efficient and communicative. I think the delays experienced by some may be due to prints being more difficult to authenticate and thus need someone who was actually at POW at the time to inspect and evaluate? exactly... simple change of ownership, in my experience, means it is quick. However authenticating new work can take quite a long time. I am still waiting on authentication from a purchase about 5 months ago. They have responded to my emails maybe not every single one, but enough to keep me from feeling I am in the twilight zone.

KIDULT - A.P.C "N*GGAS" attack, by sgolby on Mar 6, 2015 17:46:53 GMT 1, Sorry folks, but let me be the first to say that the title "Last Niggas in Paris," coined by a French Tunisian Jew is no Bueno. This coming from a Brooklyn Moroccan Jew, who grew up with and around the word being used with such frequency that it ocassionally escaped my mouth as a teen and young adult when referring to my homies. That said, whenever I said it I was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable in the immediate moments after.
As for Kidult's sometimes Provocative but more often idiotic, in my opinion, Street art, it is almost always more self serving than anything else. This particular piece is offensive in many ways, not the least of which is the fact that there is a total disconnect or lack of resonance between the original incident and the writing, if you ask me. Granted it is women's Fashion Week in Paris and he thought this is when it would garner the most attention. However everyone in Fashion knew about this incident already. Hence Kidult should maybe produce some good stuff in order to gain attention and not ride on the coattails of world events and other peoples missteps. To me he is no better than a tabloid journalist. S

Gonzalo Borondo ๐ช๐ฆ Spanish Glass Artist โข Street Art, by sgolby on Mar 6, 2015 5:22:30 GMT 1, Congratulations. Not on your pick up, these pieces are tacky little gallery money-grabs that belittled and nullified a great show, but for being one of the only buyers on this thread that knows which side is the front of their artwork. Not quite sure how they "belittled and nullified," a great show, as I was unable to get to London to see it, however I am fairly sure it was killer. That said, I quite like my "Tacky" piece, sorry you don't... good thing you don't need to look at it every day.
As for knowing which side is the front, I am fairly sure everyone gets it, but some prefer to show the artists signature when displaying. I don't get that, but hey to each their own, right... S
