New Banksy in Totterdown, Bristol, by stillborncrisps on Dec 12, 2020 1:16:13 GMT 1, It won't end in a lawsuit. You are perfectly entitled to pull out of a house sale in the UK at any time, until the final hour before keys change hands. I guess they think they've lucked in to a fortune. Not sure what you can actually do with the place though...
Not quite right - it's after exchange of contracts that the buyer and seller are bound in, not when the keys change hands ('Completion') which can be days or weeks after exchange of contracts.
But yeah, they hadn't exchanged contracts, so both buyer and seller were free to pull out, no lawsuits.

10 years ago today...., by stillborncrisps on Dec 12, 2020 0:57:29 GMT 1, I ended up queuing behind another couple of forum members on Berwick St outside the pop up at about 2pm on the day I think, I think it was barbarabush (in the big red jacket in the photo!) and Slammer. Had turned up with overnight kit on the off chance that the release was imminent. About 20 mins later another person joined, in true British style, once three people lined up it was a 'queue' and things took on a life of their own. About 4 hours later, maybe a bit more, the message came that PoW were going to release at Commercial St, not the pop-up, so began the Challenge Anneka race across London. I'll never forget it, and got to the 'new queue' in about position 50, but the guys at the front were cool enough to recognise the few of us who'd been there at the start and made space for us up front. QJG was the result of some very vocal people who didn't make it to queue no 2 in time.... Don't think I'll ever sell it, too many memories (having also done NBG the time before!) was bluddy hilarious to watch. Turning up to a comfy queue in soho, people in chairs offering beers with random people on a night out in soho pushing past. from that to shouting, people legging it and a scene from rat race with people running in front of taxis and pelting into tube stations and buses. Couples being bribed to get the fuck out their taxi. then turning up to the next queue everyone red faced, sweaty and swearing as they are now 180th. Not so cheery anymore eh. Then the cold night and gangs kicked in. Rest is history.
So this was queing from 2pm Friday, knowing the drop was gonna be Saturday?
Congrats for sticking it out charlie, and with the NBG too. I remember joinging that queue, and after half an hour I was too cold so went home coz I was bordering on the cutoff point anyway. Couldn't have stuck that all night not to get anything coz of queue jumpers. It was about 2°C ISTR, poss down to zero in the small hours.

10 years ago today...., by stillborncrisps on Dec 11, 2020 17:21:51 GMT 1, I can't remember how I managed to miss both queues, but I did.
What was the timing of events?
Did we know there was to be a pop up shop but not where? Or maybe we knew location but not when it would drop? If people were queing from early Friday night I probably saw it and thought fuck that.
How did word of the queue jumper edition come about? ISTR stories of people grabbing taxis from Berwick St and bombing it over to POW offices.

Art Insurance in the UK, by stillborncrisps on Dec 9, 2020 12:23:43 GMT 1, My home contents insurer (More Than) said they were OK with art being insured by a seperate insurer, and I got them to put that in writing, acknowledging the value too.
Brownhill (as I understand it) use the Hiscox policy, but are cheaper for some reason. I got a quote with both, and the terms seemed identical, so I went with Brownhill. The policy documents I received name Hiscox as the insurer.

Forum Auctions • Banksy Marketplace 🇬🇧, by stillborncrisps on Dec 8, 2020 4:48:58 GMT 1, I asked in 2016 if there was any other versions of donuts ever done, as at that time was compiling a list of all print variants and artist proofs, they flat out lied to me and said "No, we only ever did the 2 regular editions of Donuts".... But they told me all the other variants of prints so my list has been wrong for the last 4 years..... Actually, they probably lied about all the prints and I'm missing loads of info..... What harm in telling me they had done this one?? It's a great version, best version hands down and I own one of the normal ones. It could have been completed between 2016 and now, on an old spare print.

Banksy Keep It Real small canvas, by stillborncrisps on Nov 26, 2020 1:58:03 GMT 1, I (and a few others) questioned earlier why, if it's genuine, the car boot seller's ex hadn't been trying to get this back for the last 10 years (at least!). One explanation I've just thought of is, perhaps the ex died years ago.

Banksy Keep It Real small canvas, by stillborncrisps on Nov 12, 2020 18:02:46 GMT 1, OP was advised ealier in the thread not to show too many pictures, Lroy.
I don't think OP is trying to pull a fast one here or has made it themselves.
- advsied by one person )
Just reading some comments, profile 0, and boom... That's all, trying to understand ( par exemple why he did not give a shout today, nor a like - anyway maybe he is working) .. Anyway, its 'not mine so... Just following the Derrick 's investigations..
Maybe OP had a keen interest in Banksy 6 years ago, signed up to the forum, became quickly disillusioned with all the petty bickering that almost every thread turns into, and fucked off again until yesterday.

Banksy Keep It Real small canvas, by stillborncrisps on Nov 12, 2020 16:40:58 GMT 1, The odd thing for me is the woman's seemingly ambivalent nature to it.
I know not everyone's into art, but haven't most UK people these days heard of Banksy? He's in the news a lot these days.
If it was real her ex would've been banging down the door 10-12 years ago to get it back. She would know it had value.
My guess is her ex made it or had it made as a cheap and cheerful tribute to hang on the wall, and she knew it wasn't real, so £5 in that case is a big win.

Banksy Keep It Real small canvas, by stillborncrisps on Nov 12, 2020 13:02:15 GMT 1, Are Pest Control any quicker when it comes to dismissing fakes? We could be here months!!
My initial thought was not real, lines too crisp and detailed around the top of head, and the buttons are a different shape. But then I would've said the old man in New York's canvasses were fake had I not seen the film.
Hope it's real.

Advice for a clueless owner please!, by stillborncrisps on Oct 27, 2020 10:45:26 GMT 1, Bear in mind getting authentication from Pest Control will usually take some months, some people have had to wait up to a year. Some of the recent auction houses have sold with COA pending (Certificate of Authentification) so you might be able to sell some quickly that way.
If possible it's probably best not to store them in the loft. The extremes of temperature (v hot in summer, v cold in winter and at night) are likely not to be having a good effect on the paper. Also, a leaky roof could see the whole lot ruined. That said, if you've got kids/pets they may be safer in the loft! Kitchens and bathrooms are also not good places due to high humidity. Are they in a portfolio, or still in tubes? Get some good quality white cotton art-handling gloves before touching any of the prints.
If you want to insure them you probably need a special art policy, due to value. They'll likely totally exceed your home and contents providers' max limit. I've just gone with Brownhill Insurance. They'll insure in blocks of £50k, (eg £150k, £200k, etc) for the total worth you have, and you have to name any that are above £50k (use www.banksy-value.com as a guide). They didn't make me get a burglar alarm, and the prices are covered by a future 20% increase which given the current rising prices might need a review in 6 months. Expect to pay £500-£1k for this sort of insurance. You also need to tell your main insurer all of this and get them to put in writing that they're happy the art is insured with another provider and won't try and class you as being double-insured or being an undisclosed high-value risk for if you ever have to make a claim.
Finally, take your time, ask loads of questions here. You're probably wise not to list them here, even though we're all dying to know your booty, you'll just attract a slew of begging msgs from hawks asking you to sell. You being a noob I'd steer clear of dealing privately with anyone - your inbox is probably already stuffed full of amazing offers just from this post. There are good people, but not all, and it's tricky enough as it is - experienced forum members have been caught out and it's a lot to lose these days. That being said, let us know who you're thinking of dealing with as there are a few shyster brokers, galleries and auction houses who are well known to long-standing members here, and we can guide.

Yeah, I get the sentiment and intention, it just doesn't work.
I hope he just knocked this one out quick to some idiot to fund half of Dismaland or something.
