Early Banksy Art, by stillborncrisps on Sept 24, 2020 12:34:48 GMT 1,
Did that piece really appear on Crimewatch? I always thought that photo was a mockup. I don't remember the story behind this at all. Why is Nick Ross pointing to it?

IZTHEWIZ - SELLERS BEWARE - GET IN HERE GEORGE BASHIR, by stillborncrisps on May 10, 2020 1:26:38 GMT 1, How do you know he's 'stolen his daughter's identity and used her PayPal'? She could've just been doing him a favour. I've bought stuff for my dad if I've owed him money and later he's like 'oh can you just get this for me and then we're square'. It's not uncommon for families and couples share each other's eBay account and PayPal accounts for stuff. Seems weird that a teenage girl would owe her dad $750 and would offer to buy a piece of art internationally for him to settle up. That’s really grasping at straws. My point is it could easily be completely consensual.

Live Stream Paint Jam, by stillborncrisps on May 10, 2020 0:24:37 GMT 1, Really enjoyed it too. Cool tunes. Fun to see each artists' methods and how long they spent on each bit. Like, I though MightMo drew his monkeys in seconds like a throwie. I guess he has different approaches for street vs canvas.
Malarky's was most exciting to watch as he had someone moving the camera in and out following what he was doing. Kinda felt you were there in that cramped unlit stinky garage with them.

Banksy GDP staff gift prints, by stillborncrisps on Jan 24, 2020 20:49:16 GMT 1, What makes you think PC won't give a COA?
That Flower Thrower that Phillips have for sale at the moment was a gift, and that has a COA?
Massive Original is different from a screen print I suppose. That and i don't think any gift prints with dedications were ever given coa. I'm assuming whoever received that was very tight with B.
I get that they wouldn't want to issue a COA immediately, but they are issued.
I'm sure I remember a gift print in an auction years ago (10+ years?), it was the first time we'd seen his heart and CND/Peace symbols instead of numbering, so there was quite a buzz on the forum.

Banksy GDP staff gift prints, by stillborncrisps on Jan 24, 2020 17:54:18 GMT 1, Is this just going to be worth a ton because it’s signed and there is only /14? *www.banksy-value.com Nope, they won't be eligible for PC COA and it's dedicated to a specific individual. It's a fantastic keepsake, but it won't ever be worth a "ton." But, then again, it depends on what you consider a ton. In the realm of signed banksy prints with coa's, it will not be. What makes you think PC won't give a COA?

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by stillborncrisps on Jan 15, 2020 19:53:52 GMT 1, ISTR the 3 panel/10x Laugh Now Monkeys piece from Brighton was bought by Ian Brown (Stone Roses) at an auction in London about 10 years ago? [He was standing next to me.] Think it went for about £150k, which at that time seemed like megabucks. I remember being at this, held at Bonhams who tried to get a steal on urban art on the other larger auction houses. I was standing next to the then Black Ray Press owner who suggested we club the n to buy this before selling of these individually,.
Ah yes, 2008, well remembered. Here's the result. Maybe it was £150k starting price as it went for £228k.
ISTR Ian Brown had a grin from ear to ear during the bidding, and was really excitable like a kid at Xmas. Was sweet to see. Seemed a top guy.

Framebridge damaged/altered my print, by stillborncrisps on Jan 14, 2020 11:43:19 GMT 1, By re-writing the number they have essentially reduced the print's value to zero.
Assuming the numbering was done by the artist this is on a par with trying to re-write the signature. It now looks like some sort of forgery, or a backdoor print trying to be passed as genuine.
Whilst you know the real story, in ten years or whatever when Framebridge are probably long out of business, it will just look dodgy af to anyone else if you want to sell it.
Don't accept Framebridge's free frame offer - wtf would use these guys again?! Settle for nothing less than them replacing this print with the one from eBay, if it's still available, or a gallery if anyone has one, and then get someone else to frame it.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by stillborncrisps on Nov 20, 2019 12:48:03 GMT 1, Given everyone’s ‘expertise’ in this thread I’m staggered that no one realises that unlimited simply means that it isn’t an editioned item ie. edition of 500. People still questioning why 37,000 spray cans won’t be produced genuinely need their heads read. I think you’ll find that the unlimited edition items will be the most valuable as they are simply reproductions, they are unique in and of themselves. UGH? I thought unlimited meant there was no no no no no no no no no no no no no no limit. I also thought that since it was for charity it wouldn't be a bad idea to flood the market with unlimited t'shirts & spray cans to raise as much money as possible for love welcomes refugee charity? I don't understand your last sentence? So are you saying that only one t'shirt was made and 'won' and there was just one set of cushions and the only cans were 'won' were the one's on display from the GDP window in Croydon? I'll call the shrink now to get my head read ...Im sure there expecting me but not over a GDP cushion Life is too short to wait this long for a Banksy cushion. When a pop star sings 12 No's in a row, isn't that a bit negative?

It's Grime, it's different to rap. Harder, faster, more repetition, etc... It draws more from UK Garage and MCing than East or West Coast Hip Hop.

Restoration of Keith Haring’s ‘Crack is Wack’ mural in Harle, by stillborncrisps on Oct 31, 2019 12:48:21 GMT 1,
Not sure how I feel abut this.
In one way, it's cementing his legacy, and generations who weren't even born when it was made get to see and enjoy it. But in another way it's the opposite of what the ephemeral nature of graffiti is about. Is this what he would have wanted?

He must be losing £££ in secondary reselling ... is not a case of loosing pounds. If you had children and you wished to leave them a legacy by sorting this out in his mid 40s to control the BanksyBay reselling market he gets and therefore dependants get a cut going forward.
Banksy interview circa Dismaland:
If you were prime minister what would be the first things you would do?
B: Abolish inheritance.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by stillborncrisps on Oct 8, 2019 19:07:44 GMT 1, So what are people’s favourite piece and why? For me head and shoulders above everything is the early learning centre ‘piece’. Wonderfully observed on both a grim real world perspective and as a child’s toy. Reflecting people running from trouble and also sentiment surrounding so many populist narratives carting off those that are ‘different’ . This is art. The cushions are the winner for me. Something I've been feeling for a long time but haven't been able to express it quite so so lolsomely.
Live, Love, Laugh.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by stillborncrisps on Oct 8, 2019 8:07:56 GMT 1, It’s said it being done due to the trademark issue, but will the outcome be thousands of fake copies of the limited edition products? I would have thought that already people are looking close at the photos and thinking how they can make copies of all the products.
Now that the greeting card company has revealed theselves to be a 3 man outfit, and knowledge that GDP has been planned from before Dismaland and registered some years even before that, it's becoming clear the whole 'trademark issue' is just a useful opportunity for Banksy to give his project a story, and shut these (and any future) chancers up at the same time.
As with the Love Is In The Bin stunt, there's a lot of things that don't add up when looked at closely, but the story works well for the general public and how the history books will record it.
(I don't mean any of that to sound negative, if it does.)

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by stillborncrisps on Oct 8, 2019 0:10:39 GMT 1, There is no way Banksy could let on to his own kids who he is. Kids cannot keep secrets. Def has kids ( I'm thinking a girl and boy, boy being older), Also has a older sister. Has a dog. and is vegetarian. Additionally, there is a scene in exit through the gift shop that I belive is filmed at Banksy house with a trampoline. He def is a big fan of frozen (the movie). Which unless you have kids, you would probally skip. but once you see it, you are amazed. Yeah, yeah, I know/we know more details than he gives away.
But he's never told us any of these details. The product description was quite a surprise.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by stillborncrisps on Oct 7, 2019 16:33:31 GMT 1, Aside from the actual pieces, one thing that's really struck me about this project is Banksy giving away a bit of his personal life in the Crockery exhibit, in which he says he's got kids. It seems quite unlike him. It positions him as a regular family man, the way he says 'the kids'..
www.eastlondonlines.co.uk/ell_wp/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/imageedit_1_6210830900.jpg
It was suspected on here he'd had a kid around 2011 after he cryptically painted the Sperm Alarm in London (Victoria) and then was very quiet for a year or so.
It might be misdirection, but it would've been just as easy to say he'd got 'some kids' to paint the crockery. There's so few other details like this I can think of that he's ever given away about himself.

Banksy - Venice Stall, by stillborncrisps on May 28, 2019 23:35:36 GMT 1, I really like the piece itself. Wonder if Banksy had seen the Venice anti-cruise ships one, or just two people had a similar idea. It happens.
It looks like as much work's gone into creating the video. Eg, the stall was set up at least twice in order to get the setting up shots - once in St Mark's Square/Piazza San Marco (under the white stone arches) and once in via Giuseppe Garibaldi (in front of shuttered shops). The younger guy(s?) setting each of them up is either a different guy in each location or was shot on a different day as they have different trousers/shoes between locations, plus you've got the old-guy-stooge who sits in the chair for the final shot when it's all set up (wearing different trousers/shoes, again). The order the paintings get set up is different too when the camera is in front to when it's behind.
It's great to see the level of detail that's gone in to making something look so casual. Perfect execution, as usual.
