Conor Harrington Drawing FS, by disappointed on Jul 6, 2017 16:46:16 GMT 1, I have decided that any new art purchases will be made only if I sell something I own. This is really to prevent me hoarding art and never finding the space to hang it as I have a bit of a problem on that front..
So, as I have seen a couple of things I am keen on acquiring and feel like a change this very fine drawing is up for sale.
It's an A3 piece executed in pencil on paper and is very nicely framed with non-reflective perspex. This was bought by myslef from Lazarides a little while prior to the Headless Heroes show at that gallery. There are multiple elements in this drawing that were later worked up into canvas pieces.
I have seen quite a few drawings by Conor and this, for me, is up there with the best of them. There were quite a lot of very sketchy drawings shown at Headless Heroes but this piece stands up as a fully formed piece in its own right. These days, drawings by Conor are rarely seen and rarely sold but they really demonstrate his mastery of a media that he is less associated with.
Given the scarcity of such works, and the quality of this piece, I don't think it unreasonable to suggest offers in excess of ยฃ6,500?
Thanks for looking..

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on Jun 3, 2017 13:21:51 GMT 1, Was agonising over how to frame this large Conor piece. I figured leaving exposed given the work is on paper was not ideal. I decided on the perspex box frame route given I have a Dalek piece framed this way which I love. I would recommend thinking about framing this way. Takes nothing away from the art. I'm not hugely keen on the Harrington but that is an exceptional Dalek.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on May 30, 2017 10:24:09 GMT 1, Thanks disappointed !! Love them, spent a long time debating the purchase and cost. As (bad) luck would have it, literally 24hrs later (3hrs after posting the pics) a tree fell through my house and I now feel really poor... hoping insurance covers everything, otherwise back on a buying ban. Edit: no one was hurt, nothing of value damaged except the house itself. Best of luck with the insurance and glad that no-one was harmed..
Not surprised you love the Serras, they are outstanding, and a fine way to own a piece of his work without having to have several hundred tons of monumental steel installed into your living room

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on May 29, 2017 17:21:17 GMT 1, Not street art but my latest purchases. I was supposed to be on a buying ban... you can see how that went. Richard Serra "Junction 4" and "Junction 13"
Really great acquisitions, these are up there with coach's wonderful Jenny Saville print as the best thing I have seen on here for a very long time..
Jealous.

DRAN Artwork, VALUATION, by disappointed on May 19, 2017 12:30:59 GMT 1, Not a print but I am unable to create a thread in this sub-board so this will have to do..
Does anyone have a handle on prices of Dran original works now? Specifically an educated (rather than speculative) estimated value for the original artwork that his Free Speech print was scanned from?
No pictures needed, it looks just like the print, although the paper is a different ratio to the print edition..

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on May 18, 2017 21:49:08 GMT 1, Jenny Saville signed print from 2012 Oxford Museum of Modern Art exhibition. This is the print that I lost for 4 years! Fantastic rediscovery.
She is one of the best of her generation, and several generations before her too.
Best thing I've seen on here for years.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on May 16, 2017 12:18:37 GMT 1, Not one of the most popular releases on here but it's steadily grown on me until I finally decided to go for it. Really pleased I did. Quite an amazing visual effect depending on light, how close you are etc. Can't wait to get it framed. That's great.
I didn't know that they had released a print from this series of work so that's nice to see. I find this style is far more interesting than the masters series (with the proviso that I am a little biased due to owning a canvas from the similarly intimidating anti-matter series).
I think I'll need to buy one of these..

Eine โข Monster Print, by disappointed on Apr 27, 2017 12:57:37 GMT 1, A brilliant Eine and a real reminder of how great he can be.
Seeing it again reminds me that I have the blue one tucked away somewhere and that, really, I need to get it framed.
Best of luck with the sale.

Invader Prisoners Print, by disappointed on Apr 25, 2017 23:13:59 GMT 1, I bought this back in the day and then never got round to collecting it from the guys who released it. It was cheap as you like but a great image so I probably should have chased it up.. I nearly bought it, but went for some image of a body with butterflies coming out of it instead! What a plum! Don't know that one but, from the sound of it, we both messed up...

It was cheap as you like but a great image so I probably should have chased it up.. Doh!!! Yeah, just one of those things where I always intended to pick it up but never remembered when I was in London, or it was never convenient. Eventually a few years passed and I lost the contact details but wasn't too bothered as I never had the wallspace so just let it slide. So There's a print that's all been paid for sitting somewhere (ha!) which I sort of wish I'd made the effort for now...

Medieval Graffiti, by disappointed on Apr 25, 2017 10:51:42 GMT 1, Did many on here look at or buy from Amazon after seeing this yesterday? I ask as the price has shot up by 30% between my looking at it late last night and just now?
The cynic in me wonders if increased interest in something, and it wouldn't take that much for such a niche item, results in automatic price adjustment?
It's still inexpensive but slightly galling that I'll now be paying a ยฃ3 premium for not buying last night..

Maya Hayuk - what happened???, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 23:08:46 GMT 1, .. this one. This is great BUT that top right dark brown-blue second layer being just a tiny bit off centre really bother me, to the point of making me feel a little uneasy. I must have some previously unknown OCD tendency..

Invader โข Invasion Kits IK, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 21:37:50 GMT 1, This is still available.
I had received an offer very close to my asking price and a few a little way below but, as I am still awaiting responses to my replies to their offers, this remains available.

Conor Harrington Artwork, VALUATION, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 19:23:38 GMT 1, This auction was finished early. You will never get one for this price. One was offered here couple of months ago and I think priced around 4k The auction didn't finish early, it just sold for ยฃ920 as an auction. Someone may have offered one on here for 4K can you find that post, I'd love to read it And, are you sure that was the hand finished edition?
EDIT: just found the listing on ebay, someone got one hell of a deal there as that's as close as you get to an original without buying a unique piece. Call me a cynic but I'd be surprised if that print actually changed hands but if it did, the seller really messed up...

Conor Harrington Artwork, VALUATION, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 17:31:27 GMT 1, Has anyone seen a hand finished 'The Carnival Goes On' screen print, from the edition of 25, sell recently? And, if so, how much did it go for? One sold on fleabay for ยฃ920 in February. I don't see why the print doesn't get more love. One of the hand finished edition?
I am surprised a seller would let it go for that as it is his best print by a country mile, even in its standard edition.

Ben Eine Circus Alphabet Lenticular artrepublic EXCLUSIVE, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 14:24:32 GMT 1, The main editions are a bit rich (Love failing to shift reflects this, I think), but the signed cards are a no brainer. I don't think the perceived lack of interest in one edition by an artist should have too much impact on another edition. If I were looking for an eine print then I'd want an alphabet over the rather trite 'love' image any day of the week.
That said, this is an overpriced, gimmicky, rehash of an older image and, as such, probably deserves to sit unsold.

Banksy โข Gangsta Rat Print, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 14:13:59 GMT 1, You just put your own word in inverted commas... I have received thanks from the person who asked for help. Which was appreciated. I'm not interested in guy with too much time on his hands who thinks he knows it all. That's why I gave you my workings in simple terms. But you continue with your essays. I'm not interested. I don't care guy. Move along. I asked you a simple question requesting support for the price you offered. Now, you could have responded by offering prices of recent sales of that print or even 'it's just a hunch' but instead you've acted like a scolded child, throwing insults and sarcasm around with quite some abandon.
I'm unsure why you would consider requesting supporting evidence from someone offering what is, in effect, financial advice to be my 'thinking he knows it all' as I absolutely do not think I know it all. What I am seeking to do is help the guy who posted the question, and any others reading this thread, by requesting evidence for your suggested price.
You may not realise, may not believe it, and may not be guilty of it, but the art market is being played, people are being exploited, and prices being manipulated every single day therefore I would suggest it to be in the interest of this community that, when discussing prices, transparency and clarity are paramount. Unqualified advice such as 'No. ยฃ8k' should as per any unqualified information be treated with, at best, caution but, really, should be ignored.
As for 'essays' well that's just me treating you with more respect than perhaps you deserve by attempting to maintain discourse at an adult, rather than playground, level.

Invader Artwork, VALUATION, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 13:23:03 GMT 1, Some will say it's supply and demand... But I don't think there's a shortage of Invader prints on the market... Plus his recent ones haven't been very good. The rise seems to have coincided with a couple of big shows though, so either people have seen his work there, don't know the market value, and have paid top dollar (creating a new price level), or his galleries have been manipulating the market and buying stuff up, or individuals doing something similar... Or a mixture of everything! It's crazy how it works isn't it .Artists who produce the so say more simpler images like invader,Stik ,osgemeos ect seem to be in demand .Yet there are other artists who have been on the scene the same amount of time and produce brilliant work ,but kinda struggle to get reconized so to speak.I guess it's down to the PR. I'd struggle to describe Os Gemeos' work as simple.

Banksy โข Gangsta Rat Print, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 11:53:02 GMT 1, Sooo bored of this. Sorry to the guy who asked for help. I won't bother next time. Anyone else who owns that print, sorry for manipulating the price down. You must be gutted. I can hear the crash of Banksy print prices as I tap. Other than the guy as he doesn't care fortunately for him. You are awfully dramatic but, yes, I think it would be for the best if you no longer offered such 'advice'.

Banksy โข Gangsta Rat Print, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 11:40:53 GMT 1, The guy thinks I'm manipulating the Banksy market hahahaha No, 'the guy' suggested that offering financial advice without justification could easily lead to that conclusion.
Which it does.
It's not a stretch to imagine a scenario in which someone who is considering buying this print now, or in the near future, talks down prices in order to ensure a better price for himself is it?

Banksy โข Gangsta Rat Print, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 11:37:03 GMT 1, This sort of validates my point and leads me to conclude that you picked a price out of the air. Being unable to offer any evidence for the price you suggest could easily lead a third party to conclude that you are manipulating the market. I've seen this sort of baseless advice offered on a couple of threads recently (I don't check that many) and find it concerning, especially when the advice offered relates to artworks costing many thousands. In the short term, the guy who asked the question may now walk away from what may be (or, indeed, may not be) a fair price for that print and the next time he finds a print in similar condition, with good provenance, it could well cost him more. I don't need to justify it to you or anyone else you concerned cretin. He asked for an estimated value, I gave him one. He can do with it what he likes. Thanks for the reply.
I would argue that justification of the price who offered is EXACTLY what you would need to do therefore, considering your seemingly baseless price plucking, I'd advise the OP to disregard your opinion as I certainly will be in the future.
This sort of validates my point and leads me to conclude that you picked a price out of the air.
