Banksy • Gangsta Rat Print, by disappointed on Apr 24, 2017 11:02:55 GMT 1, I really wish people would qualify opinions such as this. I've seen a lot of numbers offered as valuation for prints but often they seem to be based on wishful thinking and/or crude speculation. Without showing the working, in the form of actual agreed sales prices, or historical evidence for an increasing (or decreasing) price trend I would have little confidence in any such opinion. Have you seen this particular print sell for the price you suggest? And, no, I do not own either of the prints discussed here, and have zero interest in ever owning either, so have no vested interest in their pricing. (9+10+5)/3=8 This sort of validates my point and leads me to conclude that you picked a price out of the air. Being unable to offer any evidence for the price you suggest could easily lead a third party to conclude that you are manipulating the market.
I've seen this sort of baseless advice offered on a couple of threads recently (I don't check that many) and find it concerning, especially when the advice offered relates to artworks costing many thousands. In the short term, the guy who asked the question may now walk away from what may be (or, indeed, may not be) a fair price for that print and the next time he finds a print in similar condition, with good provenance, it could well cost him more.

Banksy • Gangsta Rat Print, by disappointed on Apr 21, 2017 16:34:56 GMT 1, Someone has just offered me an unsigned welcome to Hell for 10k GBP with provenance and PC. Great condition and professionally framed. Worth it? No £8k I really wish people would qualify opinions such as this.

Invader • Invasion Kits IK, by disappointed on Apr 21, 2017 10:39:42 GMT 1, All PM's have been replied to, thanks.
For the sake of transparency, I have received offers up to the equivalent of £3350 since putting this up for sale yesterday afternoon.
I've also been advised that gallery prices are now in the region of a slightly crazy £6000 so, realistically, I would hope to sell this for at least £4,000 (plus shipping at buyers expense).

Invader • Invasion Kits IK, by disappointed on Apr 20, 2017 16:56:13 GMT 1, This is the limit of this forum. Everybody complains that it's becoming like an auction in disguise, but to me it's even worse than that, because there are a lot of sales but nobody publishes a final price. At least auction houses publish their hammer prices, and those are significant references for the next buyer. Think about it. I am quite happy for offers to be made publicy and/or to post a final price should this sell (with the privacy of the buyer preserved). I ask for offers as I do not know the value of this kit so don't wish to undersell myself or waste time being told that I am asking too much.
I certainly don't appreciate the insinuation that I would deceive or manipulate anyone.

Invader Camel Print, by disappointed on Apr 13, 2017 12:43:29 GMT 1, Whilst it's not an ideal framing solution the chances of there being any damage to the print through it's contact with the glass are minimal, especially as it will only have been in the frame for 18 months or so at the most...

ART • What's your Prized Possession?, by disappointed on Apr 13, 2017 11:04:27 GMT 1, This question has gotten harder to answer over the years, but the answer is still the same. Brian Adam Dougalas A Sort of Homecoming
That's a sensational piece, the sort of work I could happily look at every day..
It's one of his collage works isn't it? I've a painted piecebut would very much like to acquire one of the collage pieces some day..

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on Apr 12, 2017 16:09:41 GMT 1, I thought they were all distributed via that Sandy lottery? That's how I got mine at least so, yeah, be interesting to see how the remaining 25 were distributed. Gifts maybe? Although not part of the 150 series it always seems appropriate to include it in that set. It's certainly one if the stronger works from this format which, really, has included some pretty dire images. The sculpture of this, installed in Mongolia, is pretty spectacular.. Definitely one of my favourite Failes. Can't say I like any 150's personally. This one feels more like early Faile with loads of coffe stains and "Faile love". Don't see too many of these around, I think you should post a pic of yours in the framed Faile thread Mine isn't framed.
I very rarely frame prints as I don't have the room to display them. In think the only print I have on the walls is a large BAST 1/1 which was put up long enough ago that it's become a permanent fixture..
I've never owned any of the 150 series as the images have never appealed but, from photos that I have seen, there doesn't seem to be any more, or less, finishing to those than to this run i.e. a few random washes and daubs of paint and a little coffee/crap flicked over the paper. Easy work for the assistants...

Eine glitter original, Remi Rough sickbag, Above arrow.., by disappointed on Apr 9, 2017 21:31:11 GMT 1, Evening,
Still looking to clear space in the house so am offering up a few things that I no longer have room for..
Next up is a beautiful Eine canvas from 2008, signed and titled 'THE GLITTER "EINE"'on the reverse. The canvas measures 80cms x 30cms and is quite magnificent.
Offers around/over £2.5k?
Two Remi Rough works on airline travel sickness bags from a series of similar pieces cretaed many years ago (one is signed and dated 01/0/03, the other is just signed). Each bag remains sealed in the plastic bags they were displayed in (the tape that can be seen on the reverse is actually on the plastic bag, not the sick bag and this is how they shipped).
No idea on pricing so am happy to accept offers.
Finally, for tonight, I have an iconic original artwork by ABOVE in the form of a wooden cloth covered, then stencilled and splattered, arrow form. This has a little hole to allow hanging from the ceiling which is the preferred display method. This was bought from Studio Cromie in 2008 or so, back when original artworks by ABOVE were scarce and, if buying direct from the artist, required the completion of a bizarre questionnaire that aimed to determine if the buyer was worthy. This piece is, for obvious reasons, titled EASY/HARD.
No idea on pricing so offers?
I also have a few other things that I don't have photos of handy right now including a lovely FAILE Bunny Girl print, a large BORF Rothko canvas for MUCH less than recent gallery pricing, and those blek and Hera originals from the Nuart box set. Drop me a line if any of those might be up your street..
Thanks for looking.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on Apr 6, 2017 18:12:26 GMT 1, A small work on paper by US artist, Rime, above a photograph on aluminium which shows an ATG crew member at work:
Someone in some other thread made a comment that TOX isn't really an artist, or words to that effect. I'd argue that to be a nonsense at the best of times but, for a relatable example of how much of an artist he is, I'd say this piece is as effective a translation of a street philosophy to something that works indoors as anything the 'urban', street, or graffiti scene has ever produced.

First Great Weston Question, by disappointed on Apr 4, 2017 12:44:50 GMT 1, I would not consider this to be an unsigned banksy at all.
It is however a fine oddity and a fantastic snapshot of a local scene that was really kicking off and that held so much promise. Given how much of a shadow and influence banksy alone casts over the 'urban' art movement I guess that Screen One can be considered the epicentre of what has become a global movement/industry. Lovely souvenir of some pretty exciting times..

FS Invader Ohh Alright, Dran LTF, DFACE Going Nowhere Fast.., by disappointed on Mar 26, 2017 23:03:41 GMT 1, Is this a serious post? Genuine question as I have absolutely no clue how some prices are arrived at. And is this widely regarded as one of his best prints? It is a serious post. And it was my opinion that it is up there with his best prints, certainly his best Rubik's print along with albino. I was more interested in how you come to that price? I'm not really in touch with print prices and am interested in where the numbers come from as that seems rather a high valuation.
As for the image, well it's not for me but that's mostly due to my finding the preoccupation that many street artists have with referencing pop artists to be quite lazy (albeit with one or two notable exceptions). But, hey, it's all subjective so one ,man's meat, etc...
Albino Invader is altogether another deal and probably my favourite Invader print release. I have one that, oddly, is dedicated to fellow Parisian, Zevs...

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on Mar 26, 2017 19:33:03 GMT 1, Nope, see my reply above.. ah. sorry, i was sure he made the cover art, too.
I hadn't heard of the guy but, having looked him up, he seems more of a design agency than an artist..
It would be more than a little disingenuous for him to claim that the artwork is by himself if he has indeed done so.

Top 3 Artists, by disappointed on Mar 26, 2017 17:25:30 GMT 1, My three are probably Shepard Fairey(nostalgia), Neckface, and Tox. You have to respect what Tox did in the tagging world but he's hardly an artist? Who gets to define who, or what, an artist is?
Not so long ago you could find plenty of 'art critics' who would not consider banksy an artist yet, these days, he seems fairly well recognise as just that..

Ones to watch 2017...., by disappointed on Mar 25, 2017 16:48:53 GMT 1, -Get out to see art/shows/street work as and when you can. I know it sounds obvious, but just seeing it online is ok but never appreciated more so than seeing it yourself. Quite a few artists I have dismissed and since seeing them up close I would consider buying.
This is the very best advice.
Forums can be extremely faddish in their group tastes and there can be numerous reasons for artist X to be flavour of the month meaning that if an artist is currently not in vogue they will disappear from publicity/discussion very rapidly. So you may well miss an artist who you really engage with ..
Whilst it is easier to see many artists online if it's logistically feasible then visiting galleries on a regular basis really is the very best way to find out what you like, rather than what is being talked about. So first hand exploration, supported by monitoring various art forums, should help you develop a feel for whats out there.
Finally, if you do buy art then my number one rule has been to buy art that I like rather than art that others like. If I followed any given forum and bought the most discussed artist on there each month I am pretty confident that I would end up with a pile of art that I would consider to be mostly awful, most of which would then be sold at a loss..

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on Mar 24, 2017 14:57:40 GMT 1, Thanks for the clarification. I can't see that in the pic hence my request for a more forward pic . It's still not an artwork that speaks to me but that context makes it more interesting than it being just some guy pinned by cops which is how t appears on my phone screen. Yes, the figure is playing a saxophone and the title of the piece is "Hamelin". Thanks for clarifying that. It seems everyone else's eyes are sharper than mine.
Not really my sort of thing but it looks to be very nicely executed..

Your latest Art Purchase?, by disappointed on Mar 22, 2017 0:47:31 GMT 1, Maybe a full frontal pic might help as, from this angle at least, I can't see what the pull is here?
