Art Insurance in the UK, by k2 on Jul 13, 2018 11:47:22 GMT 1, I'm also looking at insurance at the moment. Hiscox are often recommended here, and after looking into it recently it does seem very easy to set-up a policy with them.
However it would seem sensible to evaluate the quality of an insurer based on the process / outcome should it ever become necessary to make a claim, not only based on how easy it is to give them your money in the first instance.
With that in mind, has anyone had to make a claim with Hiscox, and if so were you satisfied with the outcome?

Own ccoward for sale - accepting offers!, by k2 on Jul 12, 2018 22:56:44 GMT 1, I recently did a week long residency with Global Street art. For the week I focussed on one main piece, being my biggest ink piece to date and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.ย A small video recap via their instagram"The one man band": The piece is 70x85cm - ink, acrylic and gold on 300g cartridge paper. 1 of 1 and signed. Looking for 850GBP including shipping costs - preferably kept posted within the UK but can negotiate overseas for correlating shipping fee's but also London meet ups could be done. Feel free to send me a private message for any questions! Details shots taken from my phone: Thanks for looking
Fantastic! I watched you doing some of this on the live video. Who doesnโt enjoy a one-man-band...?
Still really enjoying the pieces I have from you. Cool to see you working at a larger scale.
Good luck with the sale!

Buying art Does anyone solicit input from your sig others?, by k2 on Jul 6, 2018 17:53:11 GMT 1, Whoa..... I am seriously curious. I am guessing you're not married? I have never had my own money, its our money. we spend it on what we want I dont think I could do 'my own money' . where do people get their own money from? How does it become your own money? I just buy the bits and she nods knowingly. she buys all her stuff that always costs about ยฃ20 and i nod knowingly. we ignore bank statements as thats the best way to keep a relationship Same in our house, it's all 'our' money - I do have friends and family who have the personal account / shared account thing, but it also seems a bit strange to me.
I do cringe when my wife sheepishly shows me something she's bought for ยฃ6 after waiting for 3 months for it to be on sale. Meanwhile I'm nervously waiting for the doorbell to ring with another delivery, hoping she goes out before it arrives.
She's probably on a bingo forum right now, confessing that she gambles away all our money, thankful that I'm too distracted looking at my funny pictures to have noticed.

Have you noticed anything odd? , by k2 on Jul 5, 2018 18:06:07 GMT 1, You say that "Enough money has been made", but clearly the only reason you keep banging on about this in such an incredibly tiresome way is that you've gone 'all in' on 3D prints in the hope of making a quick buck.
Good lord ... I think 3D prints have already doubled or tripled in price since POW closed. Can we only have this discussion when 3D prints are on par or surpassed the prices of banksy? Is that the rule? Enough money has already been made for both artists if you bought at source.
My point is that it would be better not to have this discussion based on money at all, but clearly your motivation is financial.
Your increasingly desperate "Del Naja = Banksy" dogma seems to leave no room for appreciation of Del Naja as an artist in his own right. Does your interest in him purely lie in trying to prove the link, or do you actually like his work? Would you like it more if your theories were confirmed tomorrow? Less?
Pretending that you're on some kind of mission to rid the world of these untruths and injustices, and to prevent people from being fleeced (!), is mildly ridiculous.

Have you noticed anything odd? , by k2 on Jul 2, 2018 23:28:49 GMT 1, Banksky----because I believe you are a fraud. You accuse others of being scammers and what not.... maybe you are the scammer? So if you truly care about others on this forum then I repeat please let us know who tried to scam you? This info would be very important for every member. Please let us know.... that is...if you were telling the truth??? and that looks like a very big IF!!! Just a heads up, the 'Reply' button is optional.
Before posting, *please* consider whether what you're posting is adding value to the forum. Your posts (and, to be fair, other peoples' posts about you) are ruining the forum for those of us who enjoy reading via 'Latest Posts'.

Have you noticed anything odd? , by k2 on Jun 30, 2018 18:56:00 GMT 1, This board has gotten strange because it is the only place online that still believes banksy is one rebel loner guy and not just Robert Del Naja/3D running things like its massive attack. This place is trying to hold on to some mythological spray painting god named Banksy the same way other forums claim the earth is flat. Most people on here either have been around since the beginning and have a tough time seeing the forest from the trees or are galleries that advertise here and its their livelyhood. Either way both have thousands of pounds invested in a character that a hollywood mockumentary (Exit through the gift shop) popularized. It's all so insane. How is anyone expected to have or build a conversation with anyone who thinks like this?
You remind me of a guy I went to school with who was convinced that Ginger Spice secretly had a wooden leg. It was all that he talked about, to the extent that we called him โstumpโ (โyou never see her with her knee bentโ, โyou can tell her dancing is CGIโ, โyou are all blind to the truthโ etc etc)
A couple of years ago I was doing some Facebook stalking of old school friends and stumbled across his profile. His most recent post was a hugely detailed essay entitled โWhy wonโt Taylor Swift just admit she has a wooden legโ.
Very odd.

Have you noticed anything odd? , by k2 on Jun 29, 2018 13:45:38 GMT 1, I collect a lot. Well me wife says I collect too much art. Our walls are covered with originals and prints and I have a lot of art in storage. I just love collecting and sharing my passion with my friends and family. And I enjoy reading all the threads that you fantastic friends post as well. This is truly an inspiring website. Thank you Dan! Would love to see some pics of your collection. What are your favourite pieces?

New release in June, by k2 on Jun 15, 2018 18:41:44 GMT 1, For those that ordered this morning, did you get any sort of confirmation from the gallery? All I got was the paypal confirmation which doesn't include any references to the prints. Same. I'm getting a little nervous, so I just used the fillable form on the product page to message the gallery and confirm that my order has been placed.
I donโt think itโs anything to worry about. The payment links were just โsend money to an email addressโ PayPal links rather than a shopping cart system, so the PayPal confirmation is all you would receive.

Stik Lovers, by k2 on May 22, 2018 14:17:17 GMT 1, What 1 Indivdual pays doesnโt create the market rate. Every auction has one crazy outcome
Not sure if itโs in any way related to thie resurgence of this thread, but thereโs a โdealerโ currently sending out speculative messages on Instagram offering ยฃ18k for a client who wants one โurgentlyโ.
No idea on market rate. Seems like crazy money to me, but I guess there really arenโt very many of them.
I am lucky to own one, but honestly I enjoyed it far more when it was just a pretty picture on the wall, before it became an โassetโ to worry about in the middle of the night.

New website, by k2 on May 22, 2018 10:49:26 GMT 1, Interested in how you've priced those Mark Powell works, which were mostly acquired recently and now available for sale by you, some of which at over double the original cost. One of them is still available at source for less than 50% of your cost.
If you're under the impression that there's a vibrant secondary market for Mark's work, you might be disappointed. As you know, he typically sells his work direct via his website and makes a point of trying to keep his prices affordable.
For what it's worth, I think you have some of the better examples of his work, but the pricing is a bit of an insult to the artist.

Annatomix appreaction thread.. , by k2 on Apr 25, 2018 18:43:58 GMT 1, Wow... as soon as she puts new art online - sells out instantly. Happy I was lucky enough to score โThe first Degreeโ. Also happy to see the quick sell outs and that they appear to be going to good homes. I'd love to see a pic of 1st Degree when you get it. Love the different papers/mediums she is using. I've been planning to take the book cover piece I have to the framer but I enjoy it simply resting on the book shelf on display. I have the other book cover piece, and have also left it resting on a shelf. Also have a couple of other pieces of hers resting in a similar way.
Her work is a bit hit-and-miss for me. Some of the pieces look a bit childish / unfinished / 'basic', whereas others are fabulous. Must just be me though as they sell out immediately either way!

Unsolicited Emails From Galleries, by k2 on Apr 12, 2018 19:17:41 GMT 1, yep.... LOL email. happens from time to time where i know i didn't subscribe to them but somehow my email gets targeted.ย i usually just assume it was due to art purchases or inquiries that i made.ย i just ignore them.ย curious to know if this board is somehow involded though.
I really hope itโs not related to this forum. If it is, it means my wife has an account here, and therefore knows how much this stuff *really* costs.

Unsolicited Emails From Galleries, by k2 on Apr 12, 2018 17:00:06 GMT 1, I am getting quite a few unsoliticited emails from wanky art galleries trying to punt some artists - the obvious question is, is our data/email addresses being sold or shared with other datamining companies? I have not subscribed to these emails and would like clarification from the powers that be, if this is the case. My wife has also been receiving these, and the only art-related thing she has ever used her email for was to enter the Sale Ends lottery.
Most recent email received was from 'LOL ART AGENCY'.

Large ROA on Paper, by k2 on Feb 26, 2018 15:59:03 GMT 1, Someone needs to buy up the works at Pure Evil Gallery and Stolenspace as they are a fraction of these quoted prices. I do agree that there is a huge disparity in his prices but I am not sure what is driving that.
Definitely agree that there are some cheaper works available.
Having said that, I've seen the Pure Evil works and there's no comparison to this one. I'm not particularly keen on the collage-style pieces, although I do quite like the Deer Hunter Box they had, but the drawings on maps etc they have aren't really to my taste. There's another piece that's been sitting unsold on eBay for ever at around ยฃ6000, but again it's quite an odd thing and doesn't appeal to me massively.
Some of the other pieces, and (most of) those at Stolen Space are great, but huge in 3 dimensions, and not necessarily easy to display or enjoy in a typical home.
I can't pretend to have any real understanding of the market, or what makes prices what they are, but can only offer input based on my recent experiences. I'd love it if works of this size and quality were available under ยฃ5k but I've not seen any, and I do spend a good amount of time looking and sending out enquiries. More than happy to be corrected though!
Hoping that the show at Vertical will have pieces to suit a range of budgets - they seem to be quite good at that.

Large ROA on Paper, by k2 on Feb 26, 2018 14:37:03 GMT 1, I don't normally have any idea on pricing for work mentioned on this forum, but I'm slightly obsessed with ROA works on paper, am lucky enough to own a few, and am always looking for other works that might be available.
To be entirely transparent, I own a piece of similar size, from the same show as this piece, and it's fabulous. I'm not aware of another series of works on paper of this size or level of detail. If I thought I could buy this piece for ยฃ4k, or $7k, I would be straight on it. But realistically, it's worth a fair bit more than I can afford at the moment.
Works sized in the range of 56x76cm (or thereabouts) are slightly more plentiful. Good examples of works of that size will sell quickly at ยฃ6000. A gallery in Amsterdam is currently offering one at 7000 Euros, but it's an older piece without the same level of detail, and as a result is still unsold. Another more recent and more detailed piece was sold in the last month for 7000 Euros.
This piece is huge, massively detailed, and extremely wall-friendly. If this piece was offered by a gallery, it would certainly be offered at a minimum of 10000 Euros, if not a fair bit more. If I were in a position to buy, and could do so for ยฃ8000, I would be happy with the outcome. But if I owned this it would take more to make me sell it.
While in theory it is in my interest for ROA's prices to rise, as they definitely have been (the pricing from the recent show in Belgium was entirely out of reach for mortals like me) - I'm currently looking to buy rather than sell, and while I'd love to buy this, the reality is that this piece is worth more than I can afford.
It will be interesting to see what's available in the upcoming Vertical show - whether it'll all be mega-huge and expensive works on panel as per the show in Belgium, or whether there will be more 'affordable' works on smaller objects or paper available. As of right now, this is the finest ROA work on paper that's currently available for sale (if I'm wrong, please do let me know!), and I'm sure it won't be sold for a bargain price.
Good luck with the sale of this beauty!

Interesting Framing choice, by k2 on Feb 2, 2018 10:01:11 GMT 1, I know what you're thinking, but don't worry - everything is to conservation standard and fully reversible.

Just to say, I bought a large framed piece from aml and had it shipped to the UK. It was packed extremely well and arrived safely, without a horrible bill from customs. The framing was really top quality, so well worth keeping it framed if poss!

ABINGTON AUCTIONS STREET ART AUCTION, by k2 on Jan 25, 2018 4:32:57 GMT 1, Iโm not a big fan of ROAโs collage pieces, but the lot in this auction went for a very good price for the number of drawings and sketches that it contained. I was quite tempted to buy, then remove the sketches and frame individually, but was put off by the cost of shipping the huge piece as a whole.
(And I was confused by the time difference as Iโm in Asia at the moment and thought it was happening 24 hours later).

Artists who you have commissioned , by k2 on Jan 17, 2018 10:44:39 GMT 1, Kelly Blevins recently drew a portrait of our much loved but now deceased cat (terribly soppy I know). Kelly is ridiculously talented and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. She managed to capture both the likeness, and his character, from a handful of photographs and we were thrilled with the outcome.

Eine London, by k2 on Jan 12, 2018 0:11:44 GMT 1, I was thinking the same about the order number. They must have started at โEINE1000โ. My order number was below โEINE1070โ at about 7pm, so Iโm hoping my order was below โ70โ of 100, rather than โ1070โ. Fingers crossed! Shopify order numbers begin at 1001 by default, so you should be fine.

Banksy, The Alternativity @ Walled Off Hotel, by k2 on Dec 15, 2017 16:30:30 GMT 1, As a choice, I don't own a TV nor a TV license since last century Gotta find a dinner invitation for the all family on Sunday Do people even still pay for TV licenses? I don't think I've paid for one since the 90's but miraculously still get plenty of letters warning me that I am being 'investigated'! I happily pay mine - better value than anything else I'm likely to spend my money on.

Ravi Zupa ๐บ๐ธ New Print Release โข Gallery Show News, by k2 on Oct 25, 2017 12:11:40 GMT 1, I purchased a matching number set of " From The Overflowing ". Geoff promised me a discount and free shipping and Naia knew that. But I had to pay the regular price and the normal shipping costs. Actually, same (exact) thing happened to me. I think I used that coupon code to get the $5 off each print, or whatever it was, and I did get my matching numbers, but wasn't quite what was discussed with Geoff. I just put it down to teething problems during the handover - Naia was really helpful getting the matching numbers sorted though.
Weird that two of the prints are numbered from 60, and the other is numbered from 50 (or vice versa, can't remember).

Ravi Zupa ๐บ๐ธ New Print Release โข Gallery Show News, by k2 on Oct 25, 2017 11:48:39 GMT 1, I am so sad that Geoff left "Ravi Zupa Arts". It was always a great pleasure to work with him. He was a great guy to deal with and I will miss the contact... Just to add to this... Naia, who seems to be handling things now, is also fantastic and very eager to help.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by k2 on Oct 20, 2017 18:09:03 GMT 1, Probably been asked a few times but have been a bit busy. Has anyone received the Soupy can can poster/posters that they purchased last Thursday? UK based... Cheers Some of the individual cans posters have started landing but I donโt think any of the poster sets have. I bought a poster set which arrived on Wednesday - it contained a Shok-1 poster, the Banksy vs Bristol Museum poster, and the Soup Cans poster all in one (narrow) tube. Hope that helps anyone nervously stalking their postman.

Hanging frames without screw, using double sided tape, by k2 on Oct 18, 2017 14:55:39 GMT 1, Actually hanging those in a coffee shop and the owner does not want holes, cares less about the paint I suppose... If you are hanging these in a place of business, and it's likely that someone will be sitting 'underneath' any of the framed/glazed works, I would 100% recommend not using any tape / glue to affix anything to the wall. Those products will all fail eventually.
While the owner might not want holes, he's likely to want a law-suit even less.
