Hanging frames without screw, using double sided tape, by k2 on Oct 18, 2017 13:13:34 GMT 1, I've used these too, and they work quite well - although I've only used them for smaller items framed with plexi. Also worth mentioning that they only work properly on smooth walls - unfortunately our current place is riddled with textured walls, and they're no good.
Importantly, in my experience these can be removed without damaging the paint work. The tape linked to by the original poster will do far more damage when removed than a couple of well drilled holes.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by k2 on Oct 18, 2017 12:52:57 GMT 1, Orders have started arriving today. What and when did you order if you don't mind me asking? I managed to get a Micallef and Soup Can both last Thursday and can't wait to receive them. I ordered some posters fairly early on the Thursday and they arrived today. The book I ordered at the same time has not arrived yet, and the 'proper' print I ordered on Thursday afternoon has not arrived yet either.
Hope that helps with expectation management!

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by k2 on Oct 18, 2017 8:51:51 GMT 1, So we've gone a long time now with no drops, whats everyone hoping shows up today? Dolk - Puppy Love is top of my wish list!! Mona Simpson would be ace. Although that seems unlikely with Walker's name not even on the list. Keep those fingers crossed! www.picturesonwalls.com/Art_Artists.asp?Artist=Nick%20Walker&Offset=0&PageNo=1

Who's art work is this?, by k2 on Oct 12, 2017 18:42:51 GMT 1, Can anyone Identify this artist for me? My mother had this painting given to her by her older sister before she past. She asked me to identify and see if its an artist worth any value. It's Jacques Soisson - my grandmother had a couple of his prints from the same era, one of which I still have and quite enjoy. Not sure of value - I think when I last checked, they weren't particularly valuable, although it seems like the artist has since died. Not sure if that's changed anything.
Enjoy!

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by k2 on Oct 12, 2017 16:48:45 GMT 1, not dropped yet - or did I miss it also? Oh, I don't know. I'm trying to catch up fast on this thread. They haven't dropped it yet? Everything listed on the site seems to have already dropped. Other than pieces that are becoming available again as the cart holds expire, I don't think anything new has been added throughout the day.
The Thug print was certainly available at around 1pm.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by k2 on Oct 12, 2017 16:45:36 GMT 1, ps : erm, if someone could answer to my quesiotn it would be nice There is no email confirmation to state that your entry has been received.
If your browser attempts to autocomplete forms, you could return to the registration form and see if it remembers the correct or incorrect version of your email address. That might help you discover if you entered correctly or incorrectly.
Alternatively, if it's a Hotmail or Gmail email address or something like that, you could create the 'incorrect' spelling of your email address and set it to forward all messages to the 'correct' email address.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by k2 on Oct 12, 2017 14:37:23 GMT 1, I ordered three single soup cans, as I'm sure it said max 5. Now having doubts that it could have been just one per person. Order went through though. It was maximum of 5 per person for the individual posters, and maximum 1 per person for the poster pack.

ROA - Cataclysm - Antwerp, Belgium, by k2 on Oct 7, 2017 19:15:51 GMT 1, Some pictures from the opening below.
An enjoyable evening, although the show was possibly a bit sparse. The centrepiece was a circular 'room' with a large mural painted on the inside - I tried to capture a panorama shot. I think there were 7 new large pieces on show, and an additional 'work in progress' piece - quite an interesting glimpse at the process. It's fair to say the prices were high (and 'on request', not shown alongside the pieces). Some were over 30,000 Euros which was quite surprising, but 4 were sold within the first hour so can't have put everyone off.
Some of the pieces were frankly incredible. But a couple of them seemed fairly rushed or unfinished and left me slightly cold.
The gallery owner told me he is buying up ROA stock from wherever he can find it - he's bought 6 pieces from a gallery in LA and is in the process of shipping them over, and seemed to have bought all the unsold works from ROA's last show at Backwoods. He showed me a room out the back of the gallery which had all the Backwoods pieces, still in the Backwoods frames. So presumably he'll be adding to the exhibition over time, but with work that's already been shown, but at newly inflated prices......

Ron English Print ๐บ๐ธ Popaganda โข Pop Culture โข Toys, by k2 on Sept 30, 2017 10:05:25 GMT 1, I have put up a request for a Muslim Mickey by Ron English twice now and both have disappeared. Is there a reason for this? I have not been notified by anyone? Can any of the mods on here explain why it has gone? Are we not allowed to say the word 'Muslim' on here? That is what the print is called.
They haven't disappeared, I think the mods just move posts around to try to keep things vaguely organised. Your messages are both here:

Invader Prisoners Print, by k2 on Sept 13, 2017 18:51:54 GMT 1, Bank wire is simply trying to avoid taxes. That's nonsense. There are many reasons why a business would choose not to accept PayPal, this isn't one of them.
A business requesting money by bank transfer makes it almost impossible for them to not declare that income.
I would suggest you calm down a bit, contact CAT directly, and try to figure something out.

Invader LED Print, by k2 on Sept 11, 2017 14:20:10 GMT 1, Am I the minority in finding this print to be hideous? I don't particularly like it either, although I'd quite like to see one in the flesh. I do much prefer the RVE print, but I am always drawn to black and white.
On this print I find the different dot sizes to be a bit unsettling - if the invader and the 'background' were all from one grid of equally sized dots it might not catch my eye quite so much. Although I'd probably prefer if the background was removed entirely to be honest.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by k2 on Aug 25, 2017 22:30:30 GMT 1, Met up with k2 in Kernow (Cornwall) for a face to face trade for this cracking Sweler bird canvas, I already have a dog canvas, so this is a great addition. Kernow even dropped it in a little tray frame for me. A flying visit from me but we still crammed in plenty of art chat. It was a real pleasure to see you again - thanks for the trade!

Invader LED Print, by k2 on Aug 24, 2017 15:19:06 GMT 1, Would this work? Imagine they buy a random domain name for each big print release, so everyone knows the gallery website would not actually be the domain to visit, and the release domain would only become known at the time of the release. That would easy traffic to the gallery site, and maybe make a release more reliable. What do you think? I think it would be better/fairer/easier if releases worked more like this:
* There's a specific time period during which you can register interest - 2 hours, 2 days, whatever. While it's difficult to prevent multiple registrations using email address as a unique identifier, as email addresses are easy to create, perhaps cellphone number could be used to make it slightly more difficult
* At the end of this period, the appropriate number of 'entries' are chosen at random (to match the edition size)
* Each 'winner' is contacted and sent a link to complete their order. Perhaps they're sent a unique code by SMS if cellphone number has been used as the identifier as above
* Each 'winner' is given a relatively generous amount of time to complete their order - if the order is not complete within that time period, the opportunity expires and another 'winner' is chosen from the initial list of interested parties, and they are given the same opportunity to complete their order
* Repeat until sold out
Having a more civilised time period to enter billing / postage details would help cut down on those submitting incorrect information in a blind panic, which in turn just generates extra work for the gallery after the fact when people have to contact them to correct the mistake.
It would level the playing field slightly for those who don't have access to the fastest equipment or connection, and for those who don't have the luxury of being able to waste an afternoon endlessly refreshing a website.
I guess it removes the ability for the gallery to boast that a release sold out in 3 milliseconds, but it would at least give them a metric of the number of people who were interested in buying. I suspect this mechanism already exists for other content released online so I'm sure I'm probably stating the obvious here.
As for my interest in this release, I'm stuck on an overly warm train that hasn't moved in over an hour so I'm not even trying, but I imagine that sitting here facing an unknown delay is far less frustrating than sitting at home waiting for this to happen.

Invader LED Print, by k2 on Aug 24, 2017 14:38:26 GMT 1, From a business POV it makes a lot of sense, you suddenly have like 1000 people on your website looking at your others**t. And considering they're in the middle of a stock-take, he could add any old shit to the website right now and it would get snapped up by bots / F5-ers in an exhausted, blind panic.

The painting of 'Jack' really stands out to me.

Stik Artwork, VALUATION, by k2 on Aug 15, 2017 20:08:30 GMT 1, I have the turquoise Stik print from the Stik book, signed. I only went to the event to get the book, didn't know it came with the print; the print is really nice and pretty large but I have no wall space for it so it'll probably sit folded in the back of my book. Figured I'd see what the appropriate price is for one of these, in case anyone wants it on their wall rather than creasing in the back of my book or taped to the back of my apartment door or something. And I'm not giving it away for free (I'd rather just pin it to my wall at that point) so please be real. Not trying to rip anyone off, just trying to figure out what's reasonable.
I was looking for an unsigned turquoise one as my brother wanted it for his daughter's room, but didn't get anywhere. The signed ones seemed to be going for upwards of 150 on the auction site, maybe double that if they came with the signed book. Much more than he wanted to spend unfortunately, but maybe that's helpful for you.
If anyone has an unsigned one, give me a shout!
