What are your limits ?, by danvnuk on Aug 2, 2007 16:46:39 GMT 1, this is all so tame....
I'm standing there with a Signed Banksy in one hand - And a White dog turd (The holy Grail of dog excrement) in the the other.
Would you take a bite of the white jobby to be given the Banksy?
Alternatively, we have behind curtain number two - a tramps foot - (still attached to the tramp thankfully) - for the Banksy - will you chew one of his yellowing, fetid toe nails off?
How low would we go ladies and Gentlemen

What are your limits ?, by danvnuk on Aug 2, 2007 16:34:40 GMT 1, in light of more recent posts, my capitalised Hutch, Much, Crutch post now seems childish and silly. I apologise. Talk of Hutch gets me excited and I overreacted.
Has anyone seen anything about Hutch's forthcoming book, 100 signed, 150 unsigned (Possibly released through Laz) It includes his seminal work, 'stone cold and sober'

What are your limits ?, by danvnuk on Aug 2, 2007 16:19:18 GMT 1, I nearly lost my girlfriend today coz of it, well when i say lost i mean nearly killed.
I read this post with interest....how could your GF have lost her life F5'ing for you and using the scanner....
Electrocution? Industrial size Scanner topples over and crushes her? Strangled on some leads?
But I get to the bottom and its your run of the mill 'almost murdered my GF because she played the Banksy release and you missed it card'
Sheesh

Banksy Book Club Vol. 2, by danvnuk on Aug 2, 2007 11:39:19 GMT 1, I read it when I was at school, I remember it was very funny - I was replying to Curleys inclusion on his list.
No, I didn't know there were a couple more the series.

Banksy Book Club Vol. 2, by danvnuk on Aug 2, 2007 10:33:57 GMT 1, btw - best books Ive read are Patrick O'Brian, Capt Aubrey and Stephen Mauturin. Georgian and Napoleonic period Naval warfare.....Arrrrrgh!!!!
They made a film of Master and Commander (well, a sort of mish mash of a few books actually) which wasnt bad.
I got run over in Soho (drunk - say no more) a few years back and spent sometime in University College Hospital recovering. I read a couple of the series, and couldn't put em down read all 20 odd cover to cover.

Ive read a couple of Terry Pratchett books. a guy in work lent me em and insisted they were great. They were ok, wouldn't say I was a fan though,

Banksy Book Club Vol. 2, by danvnuk on Aug 2, 2007 10:02:36 GMT 1, Dan - do you buy the adult 'covers' or are you loud and proud? when I heard about these I mistook for adult 'versions'..and thought I'll have some of that ;D
lol Carlito,.....thats an interesting question - as I discussed this with my GF when I bought it whilst doing the weekly shopping...
I favoured the Kids version - I mean, its a kids book really - so why pretend otherwise?
But my GF favoured the adult version - because obviously she's a conformist and I'm an adult, so I should have the adult version - anything else is so risque, its almost taboo
So I ripped conformity to shreds - shouted "I will have the childrens version thank you very much" stood at the till with my head held high as they all muttered and pointed around me....and strode out of Sainsburys with a newfound swagger.
I rock.

Banksy Book Club Vol. 2, by danvnuk on Aug 2, 2007 9:33:13 GMT 1, Armageddon by Max Hastings (Hard going but interesting)
Harry Potter (Your a wizhard Harry) Anything BUT hard going - rocked through this in a Sunday - couldnt put it down......btw for anyone who's currently reading it - Dobby the Elf is actually Voldemort <Jaw drops>
I'm 33 and currently going through a period of mourning due to the conclusion of the series....all I can mutter is a silent "Why?"
I'll be alright in a week or so.

Most overrated Banksy image - Discuss, by danvnuk on Jun 19, 2007 10:34:57 GMT 1, I like Radar Rat - not a massive fan of the others...I love the Rats as stencils on the street, just not so sure they work as prints.
I second the Soup Cans as being overrated - seems a few artists have had a crack at doing something similar and the whole concept is a bit 'tired' IMO
Lastly - I Fought the Law- Totally love the image.....hate the colourway POW released it in, for some reason it just doesnt work for me....although saying that, Ive never seen one in the flesh so to speak - so could be speaking out of my manhole
;D

Is there any where in London..., by danvnuk on Jan 12, 2007 0:32:15 GMT 1, Tom Tom - although might be an idea to check what they've got before making a special journey. www.tomtomshop.co.uk/Didn't POW denounce them some time ago? I forget why. But anyway, why go to an actual shop and pay part of their rent/overheads for them with your purchase? If the prints that you're after are available outside galleries, why would anybody want to buy from galleries? Never quite figured that one out... Of course, if it's not available elsewhere then they've got you in a snare
I remember reading about this on the E-Bay forum - initially I was alarmed as I had bought a print from them way back - but POW issued a clarification and all was right with the world again.
If I remember right Tom Tom had 'authenticated' Banksys for people and POW basically said they had no authority for do this - only themselves or Lazarides could do this. Some people took this as a question mark over the authenticity of Tom Toms stock- At which point POW made another statement saying that they were not questioning the authenticity of Tom Tom's stock in any way, just clarifying that they didn't have the authority to authenticate Banksy's work.
Anyone feel free to correct me or elaborate on this - Im not a regular on the ebay forum - just used to nose around every now and again.
In any case - I agree - You'll pay through the nose for anything Tom Tom have - but then I thought that when they were selling signed prints for ยฃ200 and canvases for ยฃ500!!!

Dexter

Dexter, by danvnuk on Jul 18, 2007 14:24:12 GMT 1, aha - yes Ive seen adverts for Dexter.....looks interesting and seeing everyone else is raving about it - I better start watching it I guess. The thing is - Sky+ is supposed to give free reign to your viewing habits - for me, its become the monkey on my back.
Im concious that Im filling it up with stuff I want to watch, but have no time.
As for Heroes - best thing I've watched this year.....fantastic series. And I agree - the battle at the end with Silas was a little dissapointing - mainly because mr Uni-Brow has freaked me out throughout the entire series with his brain gobbling activities and I wanted to see him get a right good shoeing.

Wrong War. Blair withdraws troops., by danvnuk on Feb 22, 2007 18:43:25 GMT 1, 99% of Politicians are lying self serving theiving gits - regardless of party or political persuasion.
Thatcher was no different.
Saying that, I can't lay the decline of British society at her door - how long have Labour been in power now? and they're still blaming the Tories for their c**k ups....might have been valid in their first term - not anymore whilst they're now in their third.
The current Government have destroyed any belief I had in Politicians (Not a hell of a lot admittedly) - Its Spin, Spin, Spin, Lie - get caught out, refuse to resign and hope eveyone gets fed up asking for your resignation (or if its really bad, resign and then wait a few months before being given another job in Government when you think electorate has probably forgotten what you did)
They are probably the worst Government I've seen in my lifetime, including John Majors Sleaze Cabinet (How sleazy do they look now when held up against Blairs Labours shenanigans?) and yes, worse than Thatcher.

Wrong War. Blair withdraws troops., by danvnuk on Feb 22, 2007 11:18:20 GMT 1, Apparently - last month was the most violent month in terms of KIA and WIA in Iraq for British troops for over a year....A Hercules that had to land in Maysan province (A 'secure' area turned over to be policed by the Iraqi forces) could not be repaired easily, so they blew it up rather than let if fall into enemy hands. Hardly an atmosphere for Troop reductions is it?
The reductions are Politically driven, to make it look like Blairs getting somewhere....seems like the poor squaddies who are at the sharp end are going to get shafted once again with even less backup and boots on the ground to make Labour look like its achieving its goals.
My pence worth ;D

I have a cunning idea!, by danvnuk on Jun 21, 2007 13:41:24 GMT 1, Its Brilliant.
This is how I see that plan going,
To enable the roller to print off enough on the road, your going to need a hell of a lot of paint....I can imagine a good hand full of people in the back opening tins and pouring paint into a resevoir - as the van trundles around, first 15 mins - all well and good.
Then the Fumes take hold - Banksy - wobbles loses his grip falls on the roller - SPLAT - he becomes a piece of his own art - as does the rest of his entourage.
So - I imagine a line of Banksy Tags in Yellow - punctuated with the ultimate Bansky artwork, a Squashed Banksy in Red - possibly followed up with some other bods - also in Red.
Its Brilliant.

Anyone bothering to vote tomorrow?, by danvnuk on May 3, 2007 13:31:01 GMT 1, Got to agree with some of the posts here - if you don't vote, then you can't complain......and I love complaining ;D
Round my way - The Council is dominated by the Conservatives.....now, this wouldn't necessarily be bad if they were competent....But....
Something really wound me up that one of them said recently with regard to building a whopping great Block of Flats in a seaside conservation area....
"The Constituents I represent are against the flats being built,...but...I feel I have to vote on the matter on how I feel personally about it - not how my constituents feel"
He voted for it - (but it got overruled anyway).....
But wait a sec? doesnt he represent his constituents? Isnt that what he was elected to do? Im guessing someone has been taking backhanders from developers.

Mix & Match, by danvnuk on Aug 17, 2007 23:28:49 GMT 1, I have been collecting Modern design furntiture and decorative arts for many years now. Eames, Panton, Jacobsen, Whitefriars, Troika etc, etc.
In that case, you may appreciate the Starck Romeo Moon S2 by Flos lamp I've got suspended in those pics. I had to carry that from Upper St in Islington to my office, then get it on the tube and home.
Doesn't weigh much for... 5 mins....30 mins later, I'd given up all pretence of carrying it normally and was ready to try anything, even balance it on my head native style.....bloody thing.....was even more fun trying to get it on the tube in rush hour. ;D

What would you ask Banksy..., by danvnuk on Feb 23, 2007 14:52:15 GMT 1, btw- slow afternoon in work ;D
Funnily enough, I saw a Banksy (which was new to me anyway) at lunchtime in a street off Goswell Rd - Was the kid with the dripping Brush and a Heart.
yes.... really is a slow afternoon.....
Seriously, I'd ask him...
If he felt that he was a victim of his own success (In that anything he paints is grinded off the wall to sell on Ebay nowadays) and bearing that in mind, would he be doing anymore steetwork. (because he hasn't appeared to do any for a while, apart from in LA which was promoting his show really)

What would you ask Banksy..., by danvnuk on Feb 23, 2007 14:47:27 GMT 1, Me "murrhhrhrhhr" Banksy "Whats that?, I can't hear your question" Me"mermrmmrrm" Banksy "eh?" <moves closer to hear better> Me "mlaaaar mumum" Banksy "For F8cks sake, What are you saying?" <really leans in close>
At which point I bite his ear off and run off down the street laughing manically.....
If a bit of a wall he's sprayed on his worth thousands - imagine how much his ear is worth on Ebay?
There would also be a nice parallel with Van Goth which would please the arty crowd no doubt.
Its win/win!

What would you ask Banksy..., by danvnuk on Feb 23, 2007 14:06:26 GMT 1, less of a question, more a demand....I'd come over all righteous and say......
"Can you stop bidding up your own prints on E-Bay? you are artificially inflating the market to line your own pockets".*
.....Then, I'd probably push him under a passing bus so my signed Banksy print would triple in value overnight.
*Kidding. See the Ebay Section for this, and other fantastic conspiracy theories.....I would push him under a bus though....not kidding about that part.....
