Banksy Queen Victoria Print, by danvnuk on Jul 22, 2007 11:09:53 GMT 1, Snap response, entirely off the top of my head -
I think you looking at probably anywhere between ยฃ1000 and ยฃ1500 for a unsigned.
(*edited to add - just checked completed listings on E-Bay - last unsigned sold went for ยฃ1079)
Signed - your got to be looking somewhere between 5k and 8k (Possibly more)
Bottom line is - A signed Banksy (any signed Banksy) price wise your looking at a minimum of five grand. - after that, depends on the scarcity and the popularity of the image.

What have I missed?, by danvnuk on Jul 12, 2007 10:33:38 GMT 1, What have you missed.....well.....
POW decided to release all the remaining LA prints on Monday, Banksy himself posted on the forum to inform everyone and make sure his real fans got them.
In other news, on Tuesday - A photo of Banksy was printed in the Evening Standard - Steve Laz came clean and said 'Yes - its Him'
Incredibly - he's French - but he's not stereotypical.
A new online art gallery opened on Weds, called - IcantbelieveitISbanksy.com their opening offer was 'first 10 prints sold at original POW prices'
I got a signed WSM for ยฃ2 pound 50 pence, and a oblong Pulp Fiction - for a ยฃ5
so - not missed much then.

A signed BH which I bought when they were more than affordable (ยฃ225 still seemed like a hell of a lot of money then ;D)
And a Flags from Santas Ghetto - got up at 5am to get my grubby mitts on that.

Food, by danvnuk on May 24, 2007 21:26:16 GMT 1, long story involving booze, glass, several operations, and pins to fuse bones
Booze - the root of all trouble <sips Kirin lager>
I had a similar problem once, strolling home through Soho with my GF and some friends in the early hours after a fantastic evening out and just a little worse for wear.
Just crossing the road, and a VW Golf comes tearing round the corner, being chased by a Police Car, just misses my GF but catches me - went straight over my foot - the tire was so close to my leg I got a friction burn where it burnt through my strides and took the skin off. Sped off round the far corner. Never to be brought to Justice <shakes fist>
Anyway - Car goes over your foot - Comedy injury....(I thought)
- Ended up spending 2 weeks in Kings College Hospital - had to have pins and all sorts inserted - Surgery twice and was on crutches for months.
but..... On the Plus side....
I got loads of sympathy I was off work for a month or so. I ended up working from home for months. The Uninsured driver bods paid me 7 grand in compensation which I used as a deposit for my place.
So the moral of that story is.......get your foot crushed by speeding cars at every opportunity ;D

Food, by danvnuk on May 24, 2007 9:48:39 GMT 1, Waitrose do a very good tarte tatin
Waitrose! I sneer at Waitrose's Tarte Tatin <affects a gallic style accent signifying culinary brilliance>
When Waitrose have suffered for their art like I have....
(Holds up viciously charred hands, two fingers looks suspiciouly shorter than the rest...another has a 'camel toe' look, like its been sliced down the middle')
Yes, when Waitrose has suffered as I have, only then will I grant Waitrose's Tarte Tatin the respect it deserves.

Food, by danvnuk on May 24, 2007 9:32:29 GMT 1, that looks goooooooooooooood, do you deliver? ;D
Yes I do actually.
It comes artfully squeezed into a Cardboard tube (Just one) marked 'Fragile' to ensure it's handled carefully. (hahahaha) and comes complete with an iPod containing the recording:-
'The Sound of something you wanted delivered, thats been smashed to bits in the process'
It begins with a constant stream of the filthiest language possible aimed at the Sender and the Delivery driver, and then descends into a low, almost animal like, mournful wailing...then just the occasional sob.
Yours for only ยฃ29-99 (+ VAT +ยฃ70 for the iPod)*
;D
* Functionality of iPod and Recording 'The Sound of something you wanted delivered, thats been smashed to bits in the process' Can not be guaranteed. Listening experience may be impaired due to pulped Tarte Tatin coating iPod's internal working parts. Vegetarians please note:- 'Tarte Tatin' may contain meat products. (burnt skin and parts of fingers, these are not harmful and should be returned to Danvnuk.

Food, by danvnuk on May 22, 2007 21:56:39 GMT 1,
Ive decided to take this thread in a new direction - and post a pic of something I've actually made recently.
It's a Tarte Tatin. It's delicious. I made it, with my own fair hands.
When people eat it, I insist they listen to an iPod recording containing 'The sound of the Tarte Tatin' Its a recording of an apple growing, punctuated with my screams as I burn myself with hot caramel.
If they complain, I kick em down the stairs and out into the street, banished from ever sampling my luscious Tarte Tatin's again.

Food, by danvnuk on May 22, 2007 15:56:14 GMT 1, Aldo Zilli's in covent garden was possibly the best food and wine I've ever had
I had an interesting star studded experience in Aldo Zillis Covent Garden restuarant.
Was going to the Theatre with my GF and had a pre-theatre meal in there.
So eating away and looking around as you do and notice a familiar face.....It's Chris Evans and his then wife Billy Piper (and a handfull of her mates who looked about 16)
My GF, an avid reader of trashy celeb mags is fascinated - craning her neck and trying to listen in, without appearing too obvious....a feat women excel at I might add.
Anyway - Aldo Zilli comes out and is chatting to them....its getting more interesting by the second....my Girlfriend is now boss eyed and is putting food into her ear by mistake.
At this moment, something happens that erases Chris Evans, Billy and Aldo Zilli from our minds.
The guy sitting behind my GF turns to his friend to chat, and I catch a look....its Jude Law.
"You'll never guess who's sitting directly behind you?" I say.... My GF is now like a dog with two d**ks for the remainder of the meal.
Great Fun. ;D

Food, by danvnuk on May 22, 2007 14:08:17 GMT 1, Danvuk....Have to agree about the Chop House, do not think i have ever had a bad meal there great food, and good prices especially when you compare to a couple of the places in Leigh i will never forget the chap at the Estuary trying to charge ยฃ25 for a cooked breakfast?!?!? Have you tried Stefans in westcliff just of the London Rd near St Bernards really stunning food and lovely relaxed atmosphere, highly recomend. Also while on the subject of Southend have you seen the Banksy stencils (obviously fake!) appearing around Hadleigh lately seen a few placard rats and a gangsta rat, did make me smile! Obviously we are not alone
Frank, Agreed - the Estuary really tries it on with the prices.
Stefans - no - havent tried that....I'll check it out
I'm quite partial to Urmas in Leigh - kind of like Pizza Express but privately owned - its incredibly cheap. (BlackCat Bar next door down the alleyway is also pretty cool if you get the chance to pop in, its not advertised and has these kind of Fight Club rules - The First rule of BlackCat is you dont talk about BlackCat....doh!)
The Grove in Leigh and The Boatyard (pushing it a bit) are nice, as is the The GlassHouse in Southend. No doubt you've been to all of these.
Hadleigh - no - havent seen em, I generally just drive through Hadleigh on the way to other places - I'll pay more attention next time.

Another Essex Based Banksy Bod - I live 5 mins down the road in Chalkwell/Leigh on Sea
Back on topic, I love my food too ;D
Had a phase (when me and the GF had spare cash) the last few years of trying out some of the better restauarants in town - Unless your an account manager, in PR or a Celeb - you have to wait months for a table, but nethertheless we managed to get to The Ivy (twice) J Sheekeys, and The Wolesley last year - and very nice they are too - not the epitome of fine dining compared to Heston Blumenthal or Gordon Ramsey, but definately an experience.
Personally, my fave place to eat is either Smiths of Smithfield or The Chop House over at Butlers Wharf (in the bar - 3 course set menu - about ยฃ12-50 - great food - no need to book - and views of Tower Bridge! Bargain! been in there loads of times. ;D

anyone met banksy then ?, by danvnuk on Aug 1, 2007 16:14:58 GMT 1, have to agree with mr. danvuk.. I never want to know what banksy looks like, it would ruin the whole reason why I liked his work to begin with.. ..and he may look like a tw*t
Exactly.
The Mystery is everything.
Ive seen a few images that claim to feature the man in question - variously:-
1) the guy looks about 14 2) The guy looks like a tramp 3) the guy looks like a Islington dwelling, Guardian reading, Latte swilling* upper class dude
None of the above scenarios float my boat, I want my artists tortured, insanely intelligent, and beautiful (again, in a tortued, chiselled way - kind of like the Heroin addict future predictor artist in Heroes) anything else is just not cricket.
* Just like to point out, I like Upper St in Islington, but I dont live there....sadly.....I also like Lattes. The Guardian - I fucking hate.

anyone met banksy then ?, by danvnuk on Aug 1, 2007 14:41:10 GMT 1, I don't want to know what Banksy looks like - what happens if he's a middle classed braying twit....
What happens if he's (god forbid) incredibly ugly, but not in an interesting way.
What happens if he wears socks with Sandals?
He could be a complete Chav - like that knob who won the lottery.....he could be Banksy.
-Hmmmmm
If I knew, I might be so disgusted it would ruin the whole thing for me - I might sell my Banksy's at car boot sales.
Believe me, Ignorance is bliss.

This is great. This thread has matured like a fine fromage - or perhaps a bottle of cheeky vino.
I wanna hear more about ritedere's GF's Box.
if thats not forthcoming, perhaps we can discuss the force of nature that is Bongo. He comes - he creates havoc - he leaves.
I imagine he looks like something from Avenue Q - (Sesame Street for adults if you havent seen it)

BONGO HAVE QUESTIONS, by danvnuk on Jun 11, 2007 22:18:07 GMT 1, Bongo, I like you so I will tell you my secret thing kept in a secret place. At the bottom of my garden is a 300 year old Oak Tree, Its Hollow and secluded...... It is my secret place.
My Secret thing resides within the hollow tree....
It's not a nice thing.
Its a mummified Banksy.
I caught him spraying a stencil on the side of my house in the dead of night - and not realising who it was I clumped him with a shovel.
Later when I realised who he was, I tried to force him to make stencils solely for my entertainment in the style of the film Misery. Sadly - I got a bit confused and when doing the sledgehammer knobbling bit - I mangled his hands instead. No more talented stencil work from that genius.
I thought it best all round if I put him inside the tree.
Thats why no ones seen anything of Banksy and his work for months.
On the plus side, now you all know where he is - your prints are worth more!!!!
Yay! ;D

if you had the money..., by danvnuk on Jun 25, 2007 15:58:30 GMT 1, Perfect excuse for a berlin pub crawl then. Now where did i put that dremmel?
You like living life dangerously....
I can imagine it now - 4 Vespa Martinis later, Stagger out of the bar..."Now Where's my Dremmel with the attachment that will cut through steel"........30 mins of fumbling, dropping the little nut and washer etc - your all ready to rock and roll.....<BZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzz>
"Hold on, Is that one of my fingers?"

if you had the money..., by danvnuk on Jun 25, 2007 14:47:47 GMT 1, Thats a telecoms box. No danger. Get a dremell onto those hinges and the doors would be off in minutes. Not that I would encourage stealing though! Where is this?
I could tell you - but then I'd have to kill you.... ;D
Berlin - can't remember the exact street as I was very,very......very..... drunk.
But I know what bar it's opposite, so could find it again. pic was taken just before xmas - so no guarantee it's still there.
It was really nice to stumble across it - took me by suprise to see it, so despite it's now obvious nickability, I'd like to see it remain where it is to catch further drunken Banksy fans by suprise as they stagger out of the bar opposite ;D

if you had the money..., by danvnuk on Jun 25, 2007 14:30:23 GMT 1, TV girl canvas (ideally black and white with a coloured heart). Anyone feeling generous? but radar rat if its between the two, no contest, its hand sprayed.
I know where there's one of these on a street in Berlin if you want it, 2 Catches First you have to avoid getting electrocuted (its on a Telecoms or Power box - no idea about German services) - and then you have to avoid getting arrested lol (I posted it a pic of it in the Banksy Graffiti Worldwide thread some time back)
Radar Rat for me. ;D
