Banksy ยฃ10 โข Di-Faced Tenner, by met on Jan 4, 2024 22:09:02 GMT 1, Hello everyone, I would like to purchase a ticket since the time, I was wondering what you thought of the dope gallery, Which appeals to me, and they have them all the time so do you think it is true thank you I had a good year
gdb91 โ French translation further below (using Google Translate), in case that is easier for you.
1. I'd be grateful if you could confirm who sent you these three photos, and when they were sent to you.
Did you receive them recently, from Nicolas Alyรจs of Dope! Gallery?
2. My own thoughts are in alignment with those of previous commenters.
The first two photos you posted are of a counterfeit Di‑Faced Tenner note.
It is unclear if the note in the third photo is the same as the one in the first and second photos. This third photo is also not close‑up, high‑res and in‑focus enough to confirm whether the note it features is authentic or counterfeit.

Your best 2023 buy!!, by met on Jan 3, 2024 4:37:03 GMT 1, Man, love me some Mr DoodleI especially appreciate those whose opinions are both considered and different to mine. They are the most challenging for me, and therefore the most interesting, because they push me to question my own views. __________ blurp โ Our respective positions on Mr Doodle clearly differ: He does come across as a likeable chap, albeit a slightly irritating one. Plus, he is very astute when it comes to selfโmarketing. But in terms of artistic value or artโhistorical significance, I've long been dismissive of the actual work he produces. At best, I would describe it as childโfriendly. Or as currently having a derivative, massโmarket appeal. That said, I do try to avoid being overly rigid. Since new evidence will sometimes present itself unexpectedly, it's important to remain open to the possibility of pleasant surprises. And on this particular occasion, I must admit being pleasantly surprised: The composition of the art is strong. There is a feeling of coherence to the piece. Also, at least for once, the subject matter is intriguingly ambiguous โ susceptible to a variety of different interpretations by the viewer, rather than simply being obvious and/or inane. __________ Cheers to Onket for posting an image. This curveball is most welcome. It's forcing me to reassess my stance on part of Mr D oodle's body of work โ even if, for the time being, that part is limited to a single artwork. met - you will love this album then ๐
Cheers for this.
Seems a bit crazy, when you think about it.
That album (along with its cover art) was released just over four decades ago โ meaning Mr Doodle must now be in his mid- or late 50s, at the very youngest.
But I've actually seen the artist painting in the streets of London. And in person, he genuinely looks like he's only in his late 20s or early 30s.
What's his secret? The guy couldn't be a friggin' vampire, could he?
Shame I only appreciate his old stuff, though. He had so much promise when he was young.
I suppose many of us do become insipid in our output with age.
As the spirit wanes, the form appears.
__________
In case any collector here is willing to sell one of their Mr Doodle artworks from the 1980s, please reach out and let's discuss.

Photos of Banksy graffiti - help please!, by met on Jan 2, 2024 20:53:48 GMT 1, Hello everyone! My 16-year-old son has a school art project to do. And of course - he has chosen Banksy! He would like to create a slideshow of his graffiti in a school hall using a projector. Unfortunately, he's having trouble finding high-resolution photos of Banksy's graffiti online. I'm reaching out to the community here to ask for your help. If you have any photos of Banksy's graffiti, please send them to my email - devapuri@gmail.com Thank you!!! Will you also be using these images in the unauthorised Banksy exhibitions you organise?
Beautifully done, STP. I doff my cap.
And nuskar immediately deleting his original post also speaks volumes.
__________
At some stage going forward, I was planning on starting a new thread, which would largely consist of case studies.
These would cover multiple subjects, such as clinical assessments of examples of deceit or other dishonesty, including by specific members of this message board.
A separate, consolidated thread seems appropriate.
Since many of the key posts would be evidence-based โ and therefore analytical and longwinded โ anyone uninterested in a dry, long read could simply scroll past the thread and focus their attention elsewhere.
Moreover, besides its educational or public-service-announcement potential, such a thread might even act as a gentle deterrent. A deterrent for the few among us who may be:
(a) tempted to deceive or defraud their fellow forum members; yet
(b) somewhat hesitant about the unwanted exposure of having a spotlight shone on them and their shenanigans.
__________
Provided you have no objection, STP, I may use your reply and this thread's now-deleted opening post for one of my future case studies.

Banksy Happy Chopper Print, by met on Dec 19, 2023 15:30:44 GMT 1, FOR SALE Happy Choppers (unsigned) edition in the 400โs COA from Pest Control (signed 2008) The print is in near perfect condition. Currently framed behind Museum-grade glass, by Pendragon Framers of Hackney in 2008 I have owned this print since Summer 2004. It has only ever been hung in my dimly lit hallway, never in direct sunlight. It's currently stored in North London. It is for collection only. cยฃ18,000 If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. [...]
I've never seen that sig on a COA before
Sorry to come across a bit naive, but i have never seen a C.O.A like this before , with the lines , circling, and the signature or seem off, normally the signature is a bit thicker as if been done by a sharpie .
As referred to by hnkpnk below, this certificate of authenticity was issued in August 2008, around eight months after Pest Control Office was established.
It can often take some time for new institutions and their personnel to settle in; for preferred templates, standardised policies and procedures to be agreed upon; and for relative consistency to emerge.
Consistency in signature style can take some time as well, especially when we aren't dealing with a normal signature, but rather one that is scaled up in size on a COA, presumably for reasons of aesthetics and gravitas.
Side note: Sharpies are available with differently-sized points. And even with a regular fine-point Sharpie, the thickness of the ink on paper can vary dramatically, depending on a variety of factors, including how often that Sharpie has previously been used.
Hopefully you didnโt pay a lot for this one because this is not legit.
You have formulated your comment, not as an opinion or as just a possibility, but instead as an unqualified assertion of fact โ when no irrefutable evidence exists to support such an assertion.
That is irresponsible and arguably foolish. Moreover, it is unfair to the seller.
For the wider benefit of this message board, please consider paying closer attention to the wording of your posts, especially when claiming particular items to be fake.
In the past, I've commented about your limited knowledge having seemingly given you a misplaced confidence in your own opinions:
A little learning is a dang'rous thing.
I recall you have also been prone to buying first, and only afterwards asking this forum for its views about the authenticity of your purchase.
But what is most grating to me are your attempts to offload some of the fakes you've purchased onto less-informed buyers.
In this respect, you are the occasional scam victim who, in turn, has chosen to take on the role of occasional scammer (while of course ensuring that you retain deniability).
This is a 2003 print and not a 2004 print.I have one - and this is clear on the COA. And all my COAs have H: & W: (H: 70cm x W: 50cm) in the size section, but not sure how consistent it is across all COAs.To the seller - I would contact PC and get them to certify this was a mistake on the COA. Hopefully all is good and you have an authentic print but I would double check.
The issue of uncertainty about the consistency of Pest Control Office is a good point.
That may also be relevant to the Year section in Pest Control Office COAs.
Year can refer to the year of a print's release. And it can just as equally correspond to the year in which a specific print in the overall edition was sold to its original buyer.
Take the example of a Virgin Mary (a.k.a. Toxic Mary), released by Pictures On Walls in 2003. It was one of Banksy's least popular screenprints at the time, with copies languishing for ages on a shelf at POW.
Now, any signed copies sold in 2004 would be signed and dated that year by the artist.
Presumably, the Year sections of the corresponding COAs for these prints also refer to 2004.
This is a 2003 print and not a 2004 print. I have one - and this is clear on the COA. And all my COAs have H: & W: (H: 70cm x W: 50cm) in the size section, but not sure how consistent it is across all COAs. To the seller - I would contact PC and get them to certify this was a mistake on the COA. Hopefully all is good and you have an authentic print but I would double check. Does your COA read 'Happy Chopper' or 'Happy Choppers'? I swear one I used to have read 'Happy Chopper' but maybe it's another inconsistency of Pest Control.
I've seen both singular and plural.
Query: If only one of the three Apaches has a visible pink bow, can all three of them still be described as "happy"?
Below is an example of a Pest Control Office COA referencing the title, Happy Chopper, singular:
Isn't August 2008 very early for a PC COA and that explains ballpoint (or thin marker) instead of broad marker?
That seems a very plausible explanation.
And to me, it looks like a marker signature by Simon Durban, perhaps just done with a new (i.e. relatively still-pointy) Sharpie.
Some more close ups of the signature and the Di-Faced tenner. It looks to me like this COA has been signed using a thin-mobbed Sharpie, and not a ball point pen. You can see in the image of the tenner that it is stapled on and that the tenner is torn. I hope this clarifies some of the doubts being casts here. For anyone interested, hereโs the bio of this print. A friend of a friend called Jim purchased it in 2003 (at Santaโs Grotto I believe, but Iโm not 100% sure about that). He then sold gave it to my friend Ollie Learmonth who was opening a vintage furniture store in Brighton called In My Room. I went to the opening of Ollieโs shop in Summer 2004 where I saw the print and bought it for ยฃ80. It then stayed on the back wall of the shop for over a year because I forgot that Iโd bought it. Ollie reminded me and so I picked it up a few weeks later. It hung in the hall of my flat in Hackney until 2008, when I took it to Pest Control because Ollie told me that it was now worth some money. Once the print was authenticated I had it framed in Hackney by Pendragon Framers just off Hackney Road. It then went back in the wall in its brand new museum grade frame in my flat where it stayed until 2015. Since then it has been stored securely in North London as I now live in Spain and didnโt want to bring it with me. I considered selling it in 2018 and it was consigned to Graffik Gallery in Westbourne Grove. No concerns were raised by anyone at the gallery about its authenticity. In the end I decided not to sell because I love it. However, now is the right moment for me to sell. I have my reasons, which are personal and not to be shared here. I have to confess that it didnโt occur to me for a moment that I couldnโt / shouldnโt trust the people at PC when I took my print down to their offices in 2008. If there is no trust in the institution that is authenticating these prints, where does that leave us - buyers and sellers? What difference will another (potentially fake) form of authentication make? Regardless I wrote to PC this morning to ask them what the protocol is to authenticate my authentication. Hopefully they will at least respond. I will update when I can. I was blissfully unaware of any fraud perpetrated by staff at PC. When did this happen? What happened to those responsible?
For what it's worth, neither your screenprint nor its accompanying COA caused any alarm bell to ring in my ear.
That said, the sensible default precaution for anyone who's considering a private purchase of a Banksy print or original โ or a public purchase from one of the less-reputable auction houses โ is to email Pest Control Office and await its hopefully-prompt "okay" before any money changes hands.

Banksy ยท frAGILE ยท screenprint with CoA goes to auction, by met on Dec 15, 2023 11:16:11 GMT 1, Looks like it sold for 50,000 GBP which seems like a great deal for a signed hand finished edition of 50 (plus this one for Chris). Was that hammer or all in does anyone know? If all in that's a decent buy imo.
www.mctears.co.uk/auction/lot/lot--banksy-british-b-1974/?lot=315975
Whereas major auction houses typically include the buyer's premium in their published sale results, a number of national, provincial and local auction houses simply display their hammer prices.
This inconsistency of approach is regrettable, since it can lead to confusion for anyone who likes to keep an eye on the auction results achieved by certain artists.
But the problem is not insurmountable.
Below shows how we can work out the answer to your question, independently and for ourselves.
***To members who already know "how to fish", please ignore the rather longwinded steps that follow.
__________
1. Note the relevant auction house and published sale price:
McTear's and ยฃ50,000.
2. Google the auction house name along with "buyer's premium" or "buyer's fee".
In this instance, the search results state the buyer's premium for McTear's is 24% of the hammer price โ plus VAT on the hammer price, to the extent applicable.
See point 3 (Buyer's Premium) in the McTear's Terms of Business*.
3. If the published sale results of McTear's do include the buyer's premium, then dividing ยฃ50,000 by 1.24 (100% of the hammer price, plus the 24% buyer's premium), should lead to a clean number โ i.e. a hammer price that could be achieved through the normal bidding increments of an auction house.
4. 50,000 รท 1.24 = 40,322.5806452
Since no auction house would have bid increments leading to a figure of ยฃ40,322, we can safely assume the McTear's published sale result of ยฃ50,000 reflects the hammer price only.
5. Additional charges
5.1 The buyer's premium in this case would be ยฃ12,000 (ยฃ50,000 @ 24%).
5.2 If applicable (in other words, if the winning bidder is based in the UK), VAT on the buyer's premium would be ยฃ2,400 (ยฃ12,000 @ 20%).
5.3 The artist's resale right, based on the hammer price when converted into euros on the date of sale (in this case, the hammer price being approximately โฌ58,169.97), will be mostly subject to a 4% royalty (โฌ1,000โโฌ50,000), and partly subject to a 3% royalty (โฌ50,000โโฌ200,000), for an ARR in sterling of about ยฃ1,929.78.
Approximate total price payable by a UK-based buyer:
ยฃ66,329.78
(ยฃ50,000.00 + ยฃ12,000.00 + ยฃ2,400.00 + ยฃ1,929.78)
Looks like it sold for 50,000 GBP which seems like a great deal for a signed hand finished edition of 50 (plus this one for Chris). Was that hammer or all in does anyone know? If all in that's a decent buy imo. www.mctears.co.uk/auction/lot/lot--banksy-british-b-1974/?lot=315975Whereas major auction houses typically include the buyer's premium in their published sale results, a number of national, provincial and local auction houses simply display their hammer prices. __________ 1. Banksy โข Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by met on Dec 14, 2023 10:27:28 GMT 1, The box set ... is a counterfeit. Mind telling us why? (Not doubting your expertise, just curious)
A couple of the original photos, which are of high-enough resolution to judge, reveal one of the immediate tells.
Zoom in on the counterfeit artwork itself.
Direct your attention to the children, focusing especially on their hands and faces, and you will find they are insufficiently detailed:
Close-up of an authentic box set by way of comparison:

At the time, a spotlight was briefly shone on @buckets101 / Mohammed123 โ who had been using the email/PayPal address nidal.nidal.issa@gmail.com, along with the name or pseudonym Nidal Alabab.
Within minutes, @buckets101 / Mohammed123 deleted their account here.
Hat-tip to Monkey for their assistance back then.
[This episode called to mind the beautiful quote by Louis Brandeis:
Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient policeman.]
Note that clear similarities exist between the fakes being dumped onto unsuspecting collectors in 2021 and 2023.
It would therefore not surprise me if @buckets101 / Mohammed123 and shamsa were the same scammer or otherwise related parties.

Mr Brainwash Nighthawk Edward Hopper, by met on Dec 13, 2023 21:53:17 GMT 1, Hello, There is a private gallery showing some of Mr. Brain wash latest works and one that caught my eye was NightHawk by Edward Hopper Its framed and limited edition of 1 of 3 this being number 2. Im debating selling one of my Banksy prints...Any thougths?I am curious as to what value this canvas should start at.
1. If you are seriously considering the sale of a Banksy to fund the purchase of a Mr Brainwash, you would be well-advised to first watch Exit Through the Gift Shop.
2. In case you:
(a) have already seen Exit Through the Gift Shop; and
(b) are still toying with the idea of buying a Mr Brainwash regardless,
then I would suggest you have overlooked or ignored key takeaway messages and lessons from that documentary.

The above box set, numbered 2639, is a counterfeit.
In case any member purchased it from shamsa, I would encourage them to initiate a chargeback request with their card issuer.

Dec 13, 2023 13:52:02 GMT 1
Sold, by met on Dec 13, 2023 13:52:02 GMT 1, To the resellers on this message board, I propose the following Miss Manners or Professor Protocol‑style suggestion:
Guideline for Forum Resellers
1. Prior to starting a for‑sale thread in connection with a multiple you wish to offload, carry out a basic Google search for the item.
The onus is on you.
2. If that item is available elsewhere, and especially if it still remains available at source, resist offering it here for a higher all‑inclusive price.
Because that would arguably be parasitic.
It would be an attempt to rip off your fellow members โ by exploiting their ignorance, their gullibility, and/or their good‑faith willingness to assume we are all decent human beings.
3. And even if price gouging would be an honest expression of the contempt you genuinely feel towards others on the Urban Art Association, try nevertheless to refrain.
Such behaviour only contributes to a toxic environment, which is unpleasant for everyone. And also unnecessary.
[Side note to members:
It is of course the chancers themselves who are responsible for any related toxicity on the forum.
This, as opposed to the individuals willing to step up by calling foul when appropriate โ and doing so publicly, for the benefit of the wider community.
Let us therefore avoid any confusion about who the legitimate targets are (perhaps also keeping in mind that a parasite, once exposed, will quite often play the aggrieved victim).]
4. Now, granted, some resellers may feel an uncontrollable need to behave like chancers with their pricing.
And if so, then please spare us, by using eBay instead. Or third‑tier auction houses.
That would seem a reasonable compromise for all parties.

Sold, by met on Dec 13, 2023 13:25:14 GMT 1, Hello dear group, Iโm selling this parra print ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ Limited edition of 50, from 2012๐ฏโโ๏ธ Archival pigment print๐ธ Accompanied by certificate of authenticity signed and numbered by the artist๐ช๐ป 68.58 x 48.26 cm, asking for 585โฌ, or trade for Kaws editions. Let me know if interested. Located in Germany , would ship in tube ๐บ
Additional details would have been helpful.
Transparency has some clear disadvantages for sellers. But it should, on balance and in relative terms, be viewed as a strength. An objective worth aspiring to, and at times even achieving.
Because the perception of transparency will enhance confidence. Deals are more likely to close if potential buyers are less worried about being screwed over.
Reputation in the art world is everything. So much so that the statement itself has become a clichรฉ.
And when a seller starts to become known for withholding key information, or otherwise behaving in a dodgy manner, they become tainted as a result.
That isn't good. At least not if they're looking to build trust and make a few sales.
__________
Although the Parra giclรฉe, The One That Got Away, was first issued by Exhibition A in 2012, a batch of these prints (that had initially been held back by the retailer) was released around September 2023 โ for US $250.00 apiece.
For buyers in the UK, the source price has since gone up to ยฃ348.00.
But that is still significantly less than โฌ585.00 (approx. ยฃ503.67 as at today's exchange rate).
In case anyone here covets the print, the discount code FDVR4NZH will apparently give you a further 10% off until Thursday evening.
That comes to around ยฃ313.00.
Good luck to those interested.

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by met on Dec 12, 2023 19:38:43 GMT 1, Ended up throwing it here and think it looks nice (photo a bit rubbish but the room quite dark so embracing the pink at low lighting ๐ ) In case you have a six or seven-figure sum to play with in your art war chest, consider picking up a painting by one of the PreโRaphaelites, which would also complement your home. As an ideal, my suggestion would be Rosa Triplex by Dante Gabriel Rossetti โ featuring a triple portrait of May Morris: Interesting. Is it for sale? I guess 6 and 7 figures are different enough for me not to allocate such a sum to something I donโt know much about (art). I like it a lot, but for some reason I am not a big fan of art with relatively realistic faces. I like many, but donโt like the idea of them on the wall at home.
The Rossetti painting sold for just over ยฃ900,000 at Christie's, London in 2014*.
While somewhat of an esoteric reference, I'd been focused on the wall fabric to the left of your photo, which is part of the Melsetter series released by Morris & Co. a few years ago*.
That series was inspired by embroidered bed hangings, crafted for Melsetter House in Orkney, Scotland and designed by May Morris โ being the woman featured in Rosa Triplex.

Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by met on Dec 12, 2023 18:13:02 GMT 1, You win, I'm totally wrong and you are all being so nice and of course we all need protecting as adults. Silly me and I certainly won't apologise for sticking up against bullies in the past. As you were. To me when I see someone making fraudulent claims like "Rare availability due to year of publishing," I think it's worth flagging and appreciate when others do so. It's not only disingenuous as to this transaction but is a worthwhile flag for anyone considering doing business with that individual in the future. Standing up against bullying and deception are of the same vein and ultimately protective of others and a community as a whole. I wouldn't want anyone to apologize for that.
For multiple reasons, this is a beautifully-crafted post.
Especially the second paragraph โ which offers both common ground and a face-saving out for your debating counterpart.

Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by met on Dec 12, 2023 18:01:28 GMT 1, Totally agree, I met so many members in Glasgow and everyone was lovely and supportive! We should be supportive of each otherโฆ0 Jumping on another forum memberโs sales post to try and undercut them doesnโt scream supportive to be fair? Hey Richy Rich (and storm breaker for 'liking' Richy Rich's post), you guys are the problem. Why would any off us support shagging over our 'pals'? There was no "undercutting". Not a person on this thread was pushing the poster they owned for a cost lower than the OP. It would be great if you guys would leave UAA and never come back. You're so vapid, you don't even understand what you said. GFY.
Our respective experiences appear to be different.
Whenever I spot a post by Richy Rich, I make sure to read it. They are consistently sharp-witted, even-handed, and rational.
The same often goes for posts by storm breaker. Usually a bit caustic, but amusingly so. And without unfairness.
To my mind, both members are assets here. They help to keep in place a system of checks and balances this platform is frequently in dire need of.
__________
You may have made some false assumptions regarding the meaning and intent of what Richy Rich wrote.
I read their post as simply a playful jab, aimed at the (apparently-oblivious) hypocrisy demonstrated here:
(a) on the one hand, uas2023 referencing the fact "We should be supportive of each other"; and
(b) on the other hand, uas2023 egregiously undercutting the pricing of a fellow forum member two months ago, in their own sales thread:
urbanartassociation.com/thread/185751/lots-sale
That point was surely worth making. And it was also a point well-made.

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by met on Nov 20, 2023 0:40:03 GMT 1, Dont know where I will put it. Seems too small for where I wanted it to go, and too pink, so will see. i mean if you settled on this one I canโt imagine how bad the other attempts had been - I can see a map of Europe. The UK top left and Spain below - now I canโt unsee it God damn. Actually kind of liked it until I read this. In the right spot that will look the business. Don't worry, embrace the pink! Ended up throwing it here and think it looks nice (photo a bit rubbish but the room quite dark so embracing the pink at low lighting ๐ )
In case you have a six or seven-figure sum to play with in your art war chest, consider picking up a painting by one of the Pre‑Raphaelites, which would also complement your home.

Two new Shrigley prints from Nicolai Wallner, by met on Nov 19, 2023 23:51:23 GMT 1,
I really like โThank you for keeping stillโ and picked up a copy. Itโs the closest Iโve seen Shrigley get to a figurative portrait, and it gently ribs all of figurative portraiture. Also, it has lovely sweeps of lush blue paint.
Presumably, this David Shrigley piece is also a parody of the Blue Nudes series of cut‑outs.
Or, at the very least, a not-so-subtle nod to Matisse.

Deleted, by met on Nov 18, 2023 19:55:43 GMT 1, Hello dear group, I have this nice Banksy postcard for trade for Kaws vinyl toys. Located in Europe. Let me know if you interested. Thank you. information : - Year: 2001 - Size: About 15 x 10cm Queen Elizabeth II in gas mask. This Banksy print was used to promote Banksy's website in 2001. Could you confirm the specific provenance of this card? When did you acquire it, and from whom?
If you are seriously interested in this why not just Dm the seller? ๐ฅด
There is zero desire on my part to buy this particular card.
For want of time and the need to prioritise, I rarely communicate with others here via private message.
My interest in the Urban Art Association lies almost exclusively in its potential as a platform for public posts โ open communications that remain visible to all visitors who access this forum.
__________
As alluded to by Acme Thunderer, the above queries are largely for the benefit of other members, and therefore deliberately public:
1. The questions were primarily intended to serve as an unsubtle prompt for the inexperienced potential buyers among us โ a reminder of the issues we should always be seeking confirmation about before moving forward with a purchase.
This is important when sellers are less-than-forthcoming, especially about the provenance of what they're offloading.
And it seems critical when what is being sold is claimed to be an item of Banksy ephemera:
(i) for which the sale price is likely to be more than nominal;
(ii) that has not had the oversight of Pest Control Office, and thus lacks the safety net of a PCO certificate of authencity; and
(iii) in relation to which the issue of widespread fakes on the market is well-known to anyone who has been paying attention.
2. As a secondary matter, the questions were an effort to better gauge the mindset of the seller of this counterfeit Weapons of Mass Distraction card.
It remains unclear to me whether Xihuan Art:
(a) is oblivious, albeit perhaps still acting in good faith, despite having failed to carry out the requisite due diligence steps at the time of their original acquisition;
(b) might possibly have had suspicions or concerns about the genuineness of the item, and is therefore arguably selling in bad faith, or at least with reckless disregard as to authenticity; or
(c) is patently dishonest, and dumping an item they already know to be fake.
Hello dear group, I have this nice Banksy postcard for trade for Kaws vinyl toys. ๐ฅด There is zero desire on my part to buy this particular card. For want of time and the need to prioritise, I rarely communicate with others here via private message. My interest in the Urb an Art Association lies almost exclusively in its potential as a platform for public posts โ open communications that remain visible to all visitors who access this fo rum. __________ As alluded to by Acme Thunderer, the above queries are largely for the benefit of other members, and therefore deliberately public: 1. Recommended Art Books, by met on Oct 30, 2023 22:30:55 GMT 1, Thanks for posting Zacksz123123. Some great books there. Can I ask, the Kusama book, have you some details on that -
www.davidzwirnerbooks.com/product/yayoi-kusama-every-day-i-pray-for-love
Yayoi Kusama: Every Day I Pray for Love
Poetry by Yayoi Kusama
In her most personal book to date, Yayoi Kusama brings us into her private world through poetic recollections, giving insight into her creative process and the essential role language plays in her paintings, sculptures, and daily life.
With a new focus on Kusamaโs use of language, this book features an impressive overview of her poetry, which the artist creates alongside her work in other mediums. Highlighting the importance of words to the artist, the book draws special attention to the captivating poetic titles of her paintings, such as in I WOULD LIKE TO SHOW YOU THE INFINITE SPLENDOR OF STARDUST IN THE UNIVERSE and FIGURE OF THE MIDNIGHT DARKNESS OF THE UNIVERSE THAT I DEDICATED ALL MY HEART. These visionary titles are a quintessential part of Kusamaโs eye-catching artworks, but also hold their own as unique aphorisms and appealing statements of cosmic spirituality. The poetry collected here touches on Kusamaโs personal trials, her human ideals, and her heroic pursuit of art above all else.
Centered around EVERY DAY I PRAY FOR LOVE, Kusamaโs acclaimed exhibition at David Zwirner, New York, in 2019, this book features more than 300 pages of new paintings, sculptures, and Infinity Mirrored Rooms. It also includes photographs of Kusama over time, offering a unique visual timeline of this iconic artist.
Publisher: David Zwirner Books Artists: Yayoi Kusama Publication Date: October 2020 Binding: Hardcover Dimensions: 6 1/2 ร 7 3/4 in | 16.5 ร 19.5 cm Pages: 304 Reproductions: 157 color ISBN: 9781644230459 Retail: $50 | ยฃ40

Death NYC - Unique Work "SKULL A" (2020), by met on Oct 4, 2023 12:28:15 GMT 1, Good afternoon. The price is based on the growth potential of these works. There is no doubt that in a few years these prints will be among the most desirable Banksy artifacts. All our prices are negotiable and can be adjusted to satisfy the Buyer.
And all the shep fairey items you are kindly offering discounted from $270 to $170 are the offset lithos that are available at source for $30. And the invader 4000 2nd edition book you are kindly offering discounted from $1200 to $750 is also available from source for $40 And the Yayoi Kusama Louisa a poster you are kindly offering discounted from $600 to $390 is also available from source at $35 Andโฆ.. I havenโt looked at your other items for saleโฆ but Iโm pretty sure we can all see a pattern here. ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Another noteworthy mention is the Gerhard Richter poster, which they are offering for a whopping $7500, while you can purchase it at its source for just 79 EUR.
The pattern is unfortunate; it is that of a chancer.
Hedonism .Gallery is taking both the members of this forum and other potential customers for fools.
But what might be even more offensive is the attempt to rationalise the ridiculous pricing โ especially for pieces still available at source, at their original cost:
The price is based on the growth potential of these works. There is no doubt that in a few years these prints will be among the most desirable Banksy artifacts.
Seriously?
That just adds insult to injury.
__________
To any dealer, gallery or auction house representative involved in the sale of artwork, there follows a straightforward thought experiment.
It can also serve as an Integrity Test:
A person you truly care about is interested in items you are selling.
They know little when it comes to art, and ask if you would recommend that they buy those items from you at your listed prices, as opposed to continuing to look around and buying them elsewhere.
[These could be anything. Maybe a David Shrigley poster consigned to auction, such as When Life Gives You A Lemon. Or Banksy Cut & Run posters on the website of a dealer.]
1. Would your good-faith reply to their question be, "Yes"?
And "Yes" (perhaps with an added friends-and-family discount of, say, 15%), because your pricing is objectively fair โ or at least not unfair when compared to the cheapest alternative?
If so, then you have passed the test.
Congratulations for not trying to rip people off.
2. But imagine you responded instead by laughing, followed with a comment along the lines of, "Why on earth would you pay $800 to me, when you can still buy the same thing at source for ยฃ15?!!"
This would demonstrate a lack of integrity.
It shows a willingness to take advantage of the inexperience, naivety, ignorance, poor research skills, or stupidity of one's customers.
You are effectively telling them, "If you choose to place your trust in me, then I will treat you like the fool you are, by fleecing you of your cash."
Any relationship that exists in such a scenario will have been built on a foundation of contempt. Contempt by the business towards its own customers.
That doesn't sound promising to me, irrespective of how many other businesses are behaving just as badly.

Keith haring Coca Cola sign, by met on Sept 29, 2023 9:13:20 GMT 1, Can someone help me understand what this could possibly be worth? Or the rarity of what I own here?
Oh my god and Jesus as well. Give me strength.
What you have is a counterfeit or reproduction Keith Haring.
It is valueless.
And that should have been obvious to you.
Did you not spot your item is different to the sign that was listed on the website of Guernsey's auction house in New York (the third image you posted)?
Start by looking at the godawful signature on yours, which you curiously kept from our view:
Then bring out a measuring tape, to see how the 47 x 40 cm rectangular counterfeit you have compares to the 90 x 90 cm square format from the Guernsey's site:

For sale: Obey/Cleon/Chase Hall/Austin Lee canvas, by met on Sept 28, 2023 21:33:31 GMT 1, Maybe this piece is an idyllic juxtaposition of scenes from the Bahamas โ before the artist was extradited to the US to fa ce multiple charges of fraud, money laundering and conspiracy. Payment in BTC would normally have been optimal. But for the past 10 months, I've sadly been unable to withdraw any from the cryptocurrency exchange I use. Hope that issue gets sorted out soon. Honest question. Maybe I'm stupid. Are you joking or mixing up names? Sam Bankman-Fried?
I was talking about that shaggy-haired artist bastard, the one whose platform has been preventing me from withdrawing my millions in bitcoin.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by met on Sept 28, 2023 1:11:42 GMT 1, Changing subject, had an amazing meal at Chef Paul Ainsworthโs restaurant in Padstow last night and he has great art taste too it seems, was nice to spot a framed Mat in there tooโฆ
As restaurant decor, it would be a little off-putting for me.
Especially if I had just ordered some seafood.

DFace - Silent Ride Print Draw, by met on Sept 26, 2023 6:02:36 GMT 1, Any advice on what to do? I'd rather keep it than flip it, that said I'm skint and have no idea what it might go for. Signed and one of 24. Any thoughts appreciated!T
1. Apologise to the gallery by way of courtesy.
Let them know you'll have to pass on the print. Because you are currently skint, and simply got caught up in the excitement of the draw.
2. Just in case timbooo is an alternate forum account, then be better. By deleting it. By stepping up under your regular username.
Alternate accounts are for the deceitful and the cowardly.
Don't be one of them; it is unnecessary.
Moreover, when we indulge in that kind of dishonesty, it can have a harmful effect on the way we see ourselves. Both as individuals and as members of society.
This in turn may adversely impact the goals we set, our ambitions. And the choices we all make. About whether or not to contribute in this world. About whether or not to reject apathy, or selfishness, or pettiness โ and instead be one of the forces for good.
3. Enough preaching. Time for an old joke, courtesy of Popbitch:
A dictator walks into a bar and orders everyone around.
