That's more like "libel alert" to me...unless you have any evidence you may wanna just STFU.

New greg Gossel Print Up, by geoffw on May 25, 2010 11:01:42 GMT 1, That's taking a straw man to breaking point. You think Lucamaleonte's work looks like Bansky or Blek? That's stencil-based but nothing like their work.
Bad stencil artists who clearly want to emulate those artists may well look similar but to say all stencil art looks like a derivative of their work is too simplistic.

For the toy collectors...., by geoffw on May 13, 2010 13:59:56 GMT 1, Give it 5 years and they'll look like crap due to cheapo chinese plastics. The original figs - Flake and Fluid and the Chopper figs were a nice idea but that whole topless action man with a skateboard/clothing is getting old.
Hopefully the Ashley Wood collabs will see them do something a bit different.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by geoffw on May 13, 2010 11:53:55 GMT 1, From a mate who needed to free up some wallspace. I haven't even checked the COA yet to see exactly what show it came from - when I do i'll let ya know! I love Nate's style but not always the paintings he's done but this really hit the spot for me.

Charles Bronsonโs artwork is displayed on Tube, by geoffw on Apr 30, 2010 11:36:47 GMT 1, Maybe they could get rid of the twats who burn their toast at Kings X forcing the station to shut twice in one week. Still, nicely off topic.
Yet TFL banned the Massive Attack artwork for their last album? Still Bronson's infamy comes from his antics in prison rather than him being a serial killer so seems like a fuss over nothing - all he did, initially was hold up a Post Office with a gun.

Faile Print & Original Release, by geoffw on Mar 19, 2010 14:09:09 GMT 1, Alex you're talking rubbish IMO. Faile haven't suffered for their art? Did you not notice they've just had a 10 year retrosepctive show on? 10 years is a long time to be making art, of any description and they didn't start on Day 1 with a sold out show with each print at ยฃ1000.
And to use your terrible analogy. Iggy Pop's punk huh? He suffered? Yeah he was in a "seminal" band (and i'm a huge fan) but he's now doing insurance ads to pay the bills.
This idea that there's something 'romantic' about suffering and struggling is always perpetrated by people who've never had to struggle a day in their lives to make ends meet or put food on the table.

Josh Keyes - Jonathan LeVine Gallery - 16th Jan, by geoffw on Jan 27, 2010 12:32:48 GMT 1, Sorry Geoffw but I could not disagree more. As a keen Keyes collector, I believe, as a whole, this is one of the strongest bodies of work. The Self portrait in particular is an amazing piece as is Last Kiss. He keeps the painting real by letting some of the mechanics show through (such as purposely letting brush strokes show.) which may explain your comment on the detail. Each to their own and all that but to say it is the weakest show to date is going some, imo. Re: the waiting list, IMO it's all very cliquey. Regardless of the size of the list, you will not get an opportunity to buy a piece unless you are one of the favoured few or only if one of the favoured few drops out. I had my name down on the list and didn't even get offered a print when a mate (no names mentioned) went on the list after me and got offered a print. I didn't even get a reply to my recent email which I know was read. As far as I am concerned, if Jonathan LeVine offered me a piece in a diamond encrusted frame, hand delivered by a randy group of amazonian virgins, I would tell him foook off. Service like that is verging on arrogance.
Indeed each to their own...perhaps looking back it was overly strong statement. Just that in previous shows I've opened up previews and almost fallen off my seat with what I saw.....this one I was little more ho-hum. Didn't hit me between the eyes like the others - not to say it's 'bad' per se...
As for the list...well yes it's been like that for a while at both galleries sadly.
