Will Banksy ever release another print?, by astrobboy on Aug 8, 2014 6:40:25 GMT 1, Personally I don't care if he doesn't make another print ever again.
I would prefer to see more street pieces.

Will Banksy ever release another print?, by johnnyh on Aug 8, 2014 7:08:16 GMT 1, Got to agree with Astro. Not sure another print is needed. Yes prices are high but they are not in short supply.
Of course good to have another etc....but that's all it would be another print to be arsed about and flipped. I have a very strong suspicion he hates all that shit. Eg he has always released at a reasonable price but that is now pointless. As the tubes he/POW sends them out in will be flipped for more that the original cost of the print. He will see a load of flippers raking it in. He sells them at market value and everyone says he's sold out and forgot the people etc etc
so have no inkling he will bother doing it again. Unless he wants to say something but he can do that without producing a print.
But out as Astro says would love to see him doing some more street work like the Cheltenham piece but again soon as it's up the parasites are in like flys to a dog turd to pull it off the wall and flog it.

Will Banksy ever release another print?, by Deleted on Aug 8, 2014 9:51:57 GMT 1, Release 500 prints. 100 signed at 8,000 UK. 400 at 3500 UK. Just about right to put the low life cheap flippers off and seems to be market value. Look at the OS sale - even at the crazy price they charged people bought to sell on - but hasn't really worked as they're hard to shift. Banksy is slightly different of course but the flip movement would be minimal. Wouldn't stop everything but there's a better chance it would. I know not everyone could afford one - but sorry that's life, not everyone can afford a Porsche. ...or a meal.
Somehow, I would think that Banksy the fictional character who isnt on Gayday / Twitter etc doesnt care about who can and cannot afford a Porsche, and I doubt he stays awake at night worrying about the distribution logistics of his next print, let alone the notion that he should price it higher inline with the market prices etc..
IMO he probably worries about more important things.

Will Banksy ever release another print?, by Trevorm on Aug 8, 2014 10:39:18 GMT 1, Well.
It's like this, apparently and according to my mate Kevin - there really is (probably/just possibly) going to be a new print run.
The issue will be handled by Kevin, so he says, in the event that Banksy rings him up or contacts me via pm and asks for him to police the distribution. The main criteria is that only 'nice' forum members will be invited to take part. At least this way the previous queue chaos will be eradicated + There are no flippers on here!! Not really.

My comment was not on the internal thoughts of Banksy and what he thinks of the fair market system - you turned it into a comment that wasn't there.
I also don't stay up at night worrying about the price of a Porsche or even the next Banksy release.
The discussion was how to avoid a flipfest - if you price something right it won't be flipped.
If Banksy doesn't care about pricing - and doesn't care about people getting into fist fights outside his distribution point - then release it at $5.
If Porsche decide to release a limited amount of 911s $20,000 below market value - guess what will happen - people will buy to sell on.
Its not that difficult a concept is it?

Will Banksy ever release another print?, by Deleted on Aug 8, 2014 15:54:36 GMT 1, Banksy could release a blank sheet of paper and people would still que up to buy it.
The thing about making prints cheaper from POW is that it could work if he made the editions larger like say an edition of a hundred thousand or twenty thousand sold at a hundred pounds each.
That way because of the large edition the prices would not rise if at all.
Or to price the prints at todays high auction sale values by using an average auction price and allocating it to a new print.
That would stop the flippers and people listing at auction.
Of course it could be detrimental too and create the re sale prices to drop.

Will Banksy ever release another print?, by Deleted on Aug 8, 2014 16:00:27 GMT 1, .... He could also make a horrible print on even worse paper so no one would be able to flip it.... Glitter anyone? That shows them!
I think if Banksy would release another print his print will be flipped... Deal with it. I just hope that he would make a new awesome print with a great image. And perhaps do it as a street piece too.

It's good for raising the ongoing prices of future releases and ensuring sales of a lot of mundane art.
Some great editions have been produced but also a lot of second rate stuff too.
It is after all an art "market"

Of course good to have another etc....but that's all it would be another print to be arsed about and flipped. I have a very strong suspicion he hates all that s**t. Unless he wants to say something but he can do that without producing a print. But out as Astro says would love to see him doing some more street work like the Cheltenham piece but again soon as it's up the parasites are in like flys to a dog turd to pull it off the wall and flog it. What he could do is put up a load of street pieces in 2015/2016, put pictures on the Banksy site, let all the vultures swoop in and cut them out or whatever then in 2017 release a statement on his site saying the images on his site of street pieces in 2015/2016 were pieces he quiet liked so decided to share them with street art lovers "I didn't do any of them". That might put a stop to it, all the buyers would be back to the dodgy dealers looking their money back+ inflation relative to other Banksy works....bye bye Banksy street art dealers.

Will Banksy ever release another print?, by Deleted on Aug 8, 2014 17:30:01 GMT 1, Having a go at flippers is hypocrisy considering that all the rich buyers of art from sotheballs etc and all the big delears are nothing more than flippers themselves just spending more money.
It's the same mentality from the small guy who re sells on ebay to the big rich guy who avoids tax by buying art and then re selling the same art for a big profit to another rich tax avoider.
It's these people flippers n all who have made Banksy rich and his prices climb.
or maybe it was Damien Hirst ?

Think it just shows how little you understand!! Big art buyers are not buying Banksy
Just look at the contemporary market he is not a player
Yes values etc going up but it's not in the mega money market by a long way

Will Banksy ever release another print?, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Aug 8, 2014 19:00:29 GMT 1, Was talking to a mate about 'his market'. I agree with you jonny, the prints are getting bought by working class saving for a banksy or middle class with money buying them from galleries who have hoovered them all up. Its supply and demand and they are fast drying up and his prices are rising fast. I have been watching a few art documentaries on you tube recently and came across 'exit through the gift shop' surprised its only had 140k views? I thought it would be millions and he was more popular? A few of his originals get bought into collections but I wouldn't say he's mainstream, there's so many artists out there who's works go for millions.
Talking about originals what happened to all the Bristol museum pieces, did they go to a private list of people waiting for an original? Have they all been sold? Anyone know? He doesn't need to release any more prints as he just sells a few originals now and again to keep the cash coming in.
Was talking to a mate about 'his market'. I agree with you jonny, the prints are getting bought by working class saving for a banksy or middle class with money buying them from galleries who have hoovered them all up. Its supply and demand and they are fast drying up and his prices are rising fast. Will Banksy ever release another print?, by maddoghoek100 on Aug 8, 2014 19:03:52 GMT 1, it is an interesting question,
This years artprice survey was interesting with Basquiate at number one with 82 lots sold. simple average of 2 mil a piece. I dont think Banksy would get that, but if 30 pieces came to market in well publicized auctions it does not seem far fetched to think he would crack the top 20 with 8- 12million hammer
Just look at the contemporary market he is not a player Yes values etc going up but it's not in the mega money market by a long way

Well, I would think so, mostly in collections of some sort that is, apart from the rubbish ones and the ones that were not thrown away anyhow, some in storage too maybe?.
Please dont **** your Dog, just buy him the chocolates and call it done.
