Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by Deleted on Aug 15, 2014 19:02:43 GMT 1, Better yet let's wait and see what injuries the police officer has sustained - that has not been released but it has been officially stated that the officer had sustained injuries. Did you defend the killing of Treyvon Martin as well? The killer had bruises, but had other means to take the kid down. He didn't have to fire a weapon

As a shop owner the rule is never confront a thief. Call the cops, a pack of cigars isnt worth anything.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by South Bound on Aug 15, 2014 19:11:01 GMT 1, You are still inflating this situation for no reason. Quit Trolling and let's have a discussion when all the facts are out there. This case is just becoming clear and the witness is also a robbery subject for this - which he failed to mention in any of his interviews! Of course they were just walking down the street but minutes before Big Mike was blatantly stealing from a store and assaulting the clerk. Better yet let's wait and see what injuries the police officer has sustained - that has not been released but it has beenย officially stated that the officer had sustained injuries.ย
Shooting anyone who is not armed, not just once but multiple times and then did not immediately report it or call for back up is ridiculous. Especially since the police are now armed with tasers...
Plus the fact that the police response to the protest included armored cars, snipers, assault rifles pointed at unarmed civilians (wow they threw rocks). While they arrest reporters, alderman, shooting bean bags at reporters (Al Jazeera America).
I have a hard time feeling any compassion for the police in this story. While I am still unsure of the exact actions of the victim, I have heard nothing that provides evidence that he deserved to be shot.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by Deleted on Aug 15, 2014 19:14:11 GMT 1, We're supposed to be able to trust the police. It's hard to do that given all of the incidents noted above. I think in general police are good, decent people, who do the right thing, but there are way too many cases similar to this one

I don't think so. I think referring to the victim as "Big Mike" would be trolling. And I really can't believe anyone would defend police killing an unarmed civilian In America, you are innocent until proven guilty. These kids were not convicted of a crime. And there was no reason to suspect they had weapons. Michael Brown should Ynot have been killed.
Yes trolling. You need to start using facts. Both men were suspects in a robbery - no one can be convicted of a crime in minutes. It really is horrible that he was killed, but maybe just maybe there was reason it happened that isn't clear yet. People can and have killed with their hands and if the officers life was in jeopardy he has the right to defend himself, as every American does.
You seem to use the innocent card easily, but the officer is guilty immediately without you having any of the facts? Seems a bit biased and not very American. Like it or not you have to listen to police officers and what they are asking/requesting something.
Hopefully this police report will work below - read 16 pages with your mind open. The embed link is not working but the full official police report can be read HERE

Sure people can kill with there hands. But why did the officer decide to blow him away an unarmed boy? He has a nightstick, he had either pepper spray or taser. In order for him to have shot this kid he had to draw his weapon, chamber a round, remove the safety, and fire. That is more then enough time pepper spray or tase a kid if you handle your approach intelligently.
From the reaction of the Police department, as stated earlier, do you honestly expect anyone to believe their incident report? They had snipers aiming at protestors and were arresting the media to prevent reporting of the event. The Police Dept. has lost all credibility IMO.
Oh and I forgot to mention that I have a beautiful set of Obey / Fairey "50 shades of Black" for sale at cost... Just keeping this about urban art

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by Deleted on Aug 15, 2014 19:33:37 GMT 1, Fact - Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer Fact - Michael Brown was unarmed Fact - Even if he was the suspect in the robbery, there was no reason to believe he was armed Fact - Michael Brown is dead
Yes, there is obviously more to it than that, but the bottom line is this kid shouldn't be dead. Police officers should only use lethal weapons as a last resort. Everything in leaning towards that was not the case here
What was your take on the Treyvon Martin case? Was that a justified killing?

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by Deleted on Aug 15, 2014 19:34:41 GMT 1, The police report is also by another officer, not the one that shot the suspect. It was also made after the shooting, therefore they may be deemed unrelated.
also note, The suspect was reportedly shot while running away from the officer, hands in the air.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by kultur on Aug 15, 2014 20:00:17 GMT 1, It does not seem like anyone wants to research the facts, or wait for everything to come out - so I will not waste my time. Please keep on spurting your hate on cops and how they kill unarmed black people because it is that black and white. It happens all the time apparently because you said so.
Trayvon Martin... yes that is identical to this case of course... so is Syria... and Israel/Palestine... why not bring them all in like you have in this thread. Why not lets talk about abortion and gay marriage... heck lets bring in Outis.
I am out.

I am more than happy to have a dialogue on policing in America, but it's hard to do that with you on here arguing just for the sake of arguing, and being disrespectful to the victim. "Big Mike". wow.

No one's talking about Syria/israel/Palestine.... just stating that art isn't the only thing people talk about on this forum

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by johnnyh on Aug 17, 2014 17:48:12 GMT 1, I think Kultur is right everyone should wait till they know the full facts.
The main reason being that if the cop had followed this advice an unarmed civilian would not be dead as an unarmed civilian at a reasonable distance is not a threat to a cops life. So at best he made an assessment without the full facts
There may have been reasons - he was a bad bloke, aggressive, mistakes etc etc. however in every instance I know unarmed people are not supposed to be shot.
So whatever happened it seems that the action of shooting was incorrect.

So fucked up.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by bullysonzx10r on Aug 18, 2014 15:46:18 GMT 1, that's murder. if you were just trying to stop someone, wouldn't you just shoot the person in the leg or somewhere else? None of us know what happened. Regardless this situation is shitty.
The only thing i would say is that during the scuffle in the actual car (Not sure why the officer would pull him into the car through the drivers window...) a gun was fired. Now, if that was the victim reaching for the officer's gun, and getting a round off, that lets the officer know that this person is willing to, at the very least, try to reach for his firearm.
Now that the family hired coroner has said that he was shot all 6 times in the front of his body. Regardless if you agree with the officer or not, and regardless if he should be put on leave, or anything else... Think about it from his perspective. At the very least, this person is coming back towards you (Per a clip found here: clashdaily.com/2014/08/new-evidence-eye-witness-mike-brown-shooting-states-brown-doubled-back-toward-police/) and if he overpowers you, he has already gone for your gun, and will potentially do that again. At the worst, he has a gun, and it was his gun that fired while in the car.
These situations are never easy. The officer will live with taking a life for the rest of his. If you love the police or hate them, the officer didn't wake up that morning itching to kill someone.
With all that being said -- If I was a 15-30 year old black person in America... I wouldn't feel comfortable around the police.

If you love the police or hate them, the officer didn't wake up that morning itching to kill someone. With all that being said -- If I was a 15-30 year old black person in America... I wouldn't feel comfortable around the police.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by Deleted on Aug 18, 2014 15:52:23 GMT 1, I agree that the cop didn't intend to go out and kill anyone. And generally speaking the police are usually helpful and kind.... but I think a gun should only be used as a last resort. why don't cops have non-leathal bullets (sincere question - does anyone know the answer)?

Although while im here, give someone a gun they will use it, no guns=no shootings! And as for trusting the Police, they are just humans like you and I, we all make mistakes and they are no exception, infact the situations they find themselves in, its no wonder things like this happen - I sure would`nt want to decide when to shoot and when not to shoot!
Cops in the US have guns as most of the population have guns!

Problem is that cops are trained to recognize situations when force is needed, when to call for back up, how to diffuse situations, and how to detain someone without the use of deadly force.
The idea that a kid attempts to reach into a car to grab a pistol from a cop seems far fetched, but then the cop shoots him six times...You would think after the first shot to the head the cop would feel safe enough to lay off, but no he figured F**k it I need to cap him one more time in the head just to make sure he stays down.

A bullet is designed to kill. Unfortunately there are no non lethal bullets. The lethality revolves solely around bullet placement. Firearms officers are trained to aim for the largest body mass, namely the torso. This is so the risk of missing is reduced. Although aiming for the legs, arm, hand etc would be ideal, under a high stress situation you are less likely to get a hit. If the subject is moving, running, flailing, then there's the clear chance the bullet will miss the torso and hit an extremity. (Head, arm etc)
There are non lethal options, such as baton, pepper spray, taser, tactical retreat(!), but they are not always viable. Decisions are made in split seconds.
I am in no way condoning any actions of anyone. I would rather see all the evidence and facts laid out in front of me. It's a tragic loss of life where the full circumstances aren't entirely clear yet. It is down to the officer to justify his actions and use of force. Then it's down to the governing body to decide whether these actions were legal. We can all speculate and cast our own opinions but without all the facts we are just arguing partially blind. A very interesting debate nonetheless

First shot was a split second decision. What about the following 5 shots... 2 to the head.
