Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by soam24 on Aug 29, 2014 13:26:03 GMT 1, I would love to continue having this chat, but i feel it's impossible in here.
A few of you continue to think that just because the subject, double in size of the police officer, was unarmed, that it's not a life threatening situation for the police officer involved.
Clearly, in the situation the officer was in danger and he felt his actions were necessary to save HIS LIFE. He didn't go into a liquor store and rob it.
Not saying either person is right or wrong, as people are going to take both sides on the matter based on what you think was right, but being in law enforcement i'm trying to help some of you see the point i'm trying to make instead of doing what some of you are doing and just shouting UNARMED HE WAS UNARMED. that doesn't mean anything to the officer whose life is in danger. it just means something to the media and people watching from the sideline.
Read this article, it's a good one, and with an OPEN MIND, understand the points the officer is making.
chrishernandezauthor.com/2014/08/24/a-dose-of-reality-for-ferguson-missouri/
and on a side note, this is why people troll the internet more than trying to have a conversation, because i'm beginning to think it's impossible. cheers

So not really adding anything here either, other than an overtone of "if were threatened we kill people, its just how shit goes down".
If that happened after every similar incident in the UK, they would spend 48 hours carting the bodies out of every major city after every friday and saturday night.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by tartarus on Aug 29, 2014 13:45:21 GMT 1, Cops get punched here all the time too, but they don't seem to need to resort to killing people when it happens. They have no guns and they manage. Kinda suggests its not really necessary to shoot them, just quicker and easier.

He finds many possible excuses as to why this could be justified, but at the end says he doesn't know anything more than anyone else. Just because one cop, somewhere, got their ass kicked after trying to use pepper spray doesn't mean they should stop trying does it?!?! Because one cop had to shoot some guy 15 times until he finally killed him doesn't mean everybody can take 15 bullets does it?
The shoplifting (robbery as he calls it) is such a red herring it's impossible to take anyone seriously that uses this as an excuse for what happened. Just ask yourself if MB was white, would the officer have even drawn his weapon.
I'd encourage you to watch the entire Tim Wise talk and get back to us.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by soam24 on Aug 29, 2014 13:57:16 GMT 1, ^ shoplifting is grabbing something and leaving.
robbery is taking something by force, in which he did.
so right away you're definition is in the wrong by a legal standpoint.
This is the Use of Force Model all cops are taught btw.
time to go to work.

From personal experience, cops tend to be more interested in protecting there own rather than protecting the public... Even from other cops.
In regards to the tone of this thread. Do you think it would be this way if the police had not given us plenty of reasons to fear and distrust them?
I just think that many police forces need to get back into the community and try to reconnect with those they are supposed to protect rather then only being seen when the are all geared up and ready for battle.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by balibob on Aug 29, 2014 15:01:23 GMT 1, I really am amazed that so many people in America are so willing to take on a police officer knowing that the officer has a gun and pretty much has consent to use it if he/she is under physical threat. They wouldn't have to tell me twice to ''freeze mutherfcuker'.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by eschiff on Aug 29, 2014 16:05:57 GMT 1, soam24 i did use both terms...and so what you're seemingly doing is comparing shoplifting to assault of the highest levels necessitating deadly force? Wow. You try to come across as even handed and ask people to read things with an open mind (which i did) yet you seem intent in cramming down a super focussed point of view without taking in any other points. Did you watch the video? Did you read any of the articles that have been posted? Thought not.

That is destruction of property with a deadly weapon (baseball bat usually).
They would break out the drones and hellfire missiles.

They wouldn't have to tell me twice to ''freeze mutherfcuker'. our police state is in full on rage... A police force or govt who will willingly kill their own people is a tyrannical force, against the people.
when people understand that the united states has been changed over the period of the last 30+ years. it has been corrupted beyond repair, a lot like russia was and is now again. there are so many decedents of communists and people that believe the state should own you, and tell what you to do. its fucking crazy. people being into gun banned and 2nd amendment restrictions, for their "safety". tell me the last time you are mor safe without a good defense weapon, in a world that will take your stuff, if they think, they can get way with it.
Most murders happen by Cop.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by eschiff on Aug 31, 2014 21:53:57 GMT 1, just read this article in the NYT, some shocking stats
www.nytimes.com/2014/08/31/opinion/sunday/nicholas-kristof-after-ferguson-race-deserves-more-attention-not-less.html
• Because of the catastrophic experiment in mass incarceration, black men in their 20s without a high school diploma are more likely to be incarcerated today than employed, according to a study from the National Bureau of Economic Research. Nearly 70 percent of middle-aged black men who never graduated from high school have been imprisoned.

Another unarmed black teen killed by the police, by sommguy on Sept 2, 2014 5:15:14 GMT 1, It all comes down to character. Character will stop you from being corrupt. good character will stop you from entering into situations where your ethics are compromised.... character people... money makes you more of who you are. if you asshole, well then you're a wealthy asshole. if you're a decent guy, you will probably continue to be a nice guy, but a bigger nice guy
character: its what separates most from the rest.
