I'm not usually threatened by an unarmed man with hands up. Verbal warning along with pointing an automatic rifle at him. Even the cop who had him lower the rifle thought he was out of bounds.

He was pointing an automatic rifle at an unarmed civilian with his hands up, in the middle of american city and threatened to kill him. I do not care how tired you are, that is never acceptable. |

this view is supported that while he wildly points his weapon at people for no reason. who you state yourself are basically not a threat at all as too busy filming him on their phones. far as I know no one has ever been shot by an Iphone, Samsung or a nokia.
this is also supported by the sensible police sargeant who casually walks up and forces the weapon down and steps between him and the protestors. Not one threatening word is said to the ssargeant and I doubt he would do it if he felt threatened in anyway.
also you state Rioters they did not seem like people rioting to me. Looked like a fairly peaceful protest.
again look at the second video and how calm the sargeant is. Very casual in his manner which suggest no riot at all in this case. Also notice as he shepherds the cop with the gun away they turn their back to the crowd. They would never do this if there was a threat to their safety.

there is nothing greatly intellectual about this situ or that cop wielding his weapon. As can be seen by his own sargeant lowering it. Which shows good and proper policing.
But your point is right and one you should remember. The police are the servants of the community that they serve. And yes they are paid to keep people safe. There seems quite a discrepancy in that model in Ferguson. Even you should be able to see that!!

Then explain how this behavior is acceptable coming from those who are commonly called "peace officers" when dealing with a single individual while a crowd is in the area (what if he shot and missed and hit a bystander or the gun accidentally went off and hit a bystander).
I am a reasonable person and am more than willing to consider your point of view.

How was this cop working in accordance with the ROE he is trained to follow? How was this cop behaving in a way that would have insured the safety of the community.

Problem is nobody really knows what happened or the real truth so instead we have people playing toptrumps with the latest "fact" they have just read from the internet Not really, black people and people of colour living in poor neighbourhoods policed by ignorant white racists know the truth.
