Whatson, by natstan on Nov 6, 2014 1:15:57 GMT 1, I did not see anything excitting in that pdf. Yes the colors are beautiful and the stencils may be well done, but is that all? I think the feeling among many here is that MW's art is, other than what you mentioned is 'formulaic', is being pushed out on this forum in an overly frequent basis, so much so people feel overwhelmed by the stock of works that come, and then feel underwhelmed when they see the same ideas executed every time. If you look back this forum in the past year, it's pretty obvious MW is the name that pops up threads most often (the other being Banksy, but hey this forum started off his name). He has simply put out too many print releases and collaborated with too many artists - sometimes too much of a good thing can really be bad. You're thinking pretty small though, its a single forum, ok ships a fair chunk of business his way, but is he big enough to survive without all of you whingers now? I have a feeling so.
You are reading small instead and might want to reread my post again. Everything I said is being referenced to this forum only, meaning some members here are tired of his works. I did not go as far as to say the majority dislike his works. Good that he has a big audience outside of this forum (and I have nothing against this artist whatsoever).

I want to see some canvases in the flesh to see if I'll get it a bit more!

Were there any chinooks other than the minis commissioner?
Not for sale but if you like the golds here's my gold AP canvas. Not really fan of the tagged stuff Martin does - Chinook and High Up are my favourites of Matins pieces

Whatson, by ABC on Nov 7, 2014 9:30:32 GMT 1, I turned up, a little late but everything had gone by 2000, even the bloody beer. That said, I stole a can out of GP's bag. Overall though, I thought there was a great body of work, not just saying that, I mean it. I think his self-portrait was a cracking piece...not because I would like to own an image of Martin, more the fact that the execution of the stencil work on that particular work was top notch.
Regardless of what people say about him though, he has a big following now and it shows.

Oh yes he is definately going to survive with all the promotion and money he gets from the Nuart Festival.

Whatson, by Hairbland on Nov 7, 2014 15:32:44 GMT 1, I think the first 2 works, the derby fellow and the stop tagging fellow, are both terrible - just my opinion and looking at art generates opinions.
He is being marketed well, and his tagging is perfect for safe but edgy home decor.

Whatson, by daveart on Nov 7, 2014 16:13:17 GMT 1, hairbland.. i think maybe said this as a bad thing ... "is perfect for safe but edgy home decor." but i was actually just saying to someone the other day that one of the problem with a lot of the 'urban art' whatever that means to you .. is that a lot of the images dont travel well from location to living room. guns, bombs, women, etc etc. so i think MW has a nice thing going. why not like his work? its cool enough. interesting enough. street enough. but not over the top i any of those categories. maybe that is bland. but success tastes good to i am sure for him.

Lets face it, we can name several bigger name artists who use reference photos that they don't own and we don't attack them with ferocity that MW gets. No wonder he doesn't visit this site anymore.
Glad to see by the interest in his prints on ebay that he has a big following and isn't dependent on the members of this forum.
