Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by Coach on Nov 13, 2014 21:26:34 GMT 1, I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I was lucky enough to live in Manchester as a student from 86 to 89. Coincided with the Madchester scene, which was great fun. Saw all the usual suspects, Mondays, Roses, Inspirals, etc loads, and had a blast. Prob saw the Wedding Present the most though.

Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by Coach on Nov 13, 2014 23:58:54 GMT 1, My first Glastonbury. Seeing Palace beat Man U at old Trafford. What year was the Glastonbury Coach. My first was '85. Oh my, yours was quite a bit earlier than mine. I cant remember now, but mid 90's I would guess. Went year after year for quite some time. Stopped when it got too crowded. Miss it though.

The wedding present were one of my all time favourite bands. Still have the collection of limited singles that they did one year each month. Finally saw them in London about 7 yrs ago... Weren't quite as good as I had hoped.
I have quite eclectic tastes... And one week I saw Coldplay and al green in the same few days. Al green left Coldplay for dead with old school charm and the experience of 40yrs performing.
Othe good concerts were madonna (yes really!) and Kate bush. Both were like going to a west end theatre production. Wu tang clan in the early days were pretty mental too.
Foo figters, Paul Simon / sting and David gray lined up already for 2015.

Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by supercockle on Nov 14, 2014 9:11:53 GMT 1, Wedding Present were amazing live, back in the early 1990s. What a ban they were. They never were the same after Grapper left, if you ask me. Saw them in September and it was great to hear some of the classics again.
Best bands I've seen live back in the day would be Rage Against The Machine, Beastie Boys and Orbital, all at Glastonbury. More recently I've loved seeing Unknown Mortal Orchestra, White Denim, Drenge and Future Islands.
I'm a Wednesday fan, so events of the sporting variety have been limited. Rumbelows Cup Final 1991 FA Cup Semi-Final 1993 Wednesday 6 L**ds 0 2014 are up there.

Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by kfroms on Nov 14, 2014 11:57:08 GMT 1, Sport: Lendl vs Chang, French Open 1989. Although never a fan of Lendl ( I was a big fan of McEnroe ) I suffered like hell with him. What a match. I still get goosebumps. My german fellows winning the world cup in '94 and 2014. And the European Championship in 1980 and 1996. :-)
Hard to pick the gigs, a couple of memorable ones: Sisters of Mercy back in '88 or so Miles Davis playing at Hohentwiel Festival in 1989 Bowie, Pixies and Midnight Oil at Schuettorf open Air 1990 ( was lucky to get backstage tix and managed to 'meet' Bowie ) Keith Jarrett, Jack deJohnette and Gary Peacock at Paris Underworld at Roundhouse 2007 Depeche Mode at Royal Albert Hall Jeff Mills at Tresor Berlin and some very memorable events with Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and Chris Liebing.

Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by misterx on Nov 14, 2014 12:02:40 GMT 1, Shortly after democracy in south Africa the floodgates to live international acts blew wide open.
U2 timed their PopMart world tour to end in JHB onWorld Human Rights Day,now a public holiday in SA. i queued for 12 hours to buy so called Golden tickets which gave us a small cordoned off area right at the front. The show was amazing but, and I swear this is true, Bono kept looking at my wife which was the weirdest feeling cos he was doing it during one of their classic tracks which I had always liked, adding to the bizarreness!
My first concert was the first ever Monsters of Rock at Donnington with Rainbow, Saxon, The Scorpions, Judas Priest etc. Second was AC/DC's Back in Black tour (80?) at the manchester Apollo . My ears rang in class for 2 days afterwards, it was so loud.A real badge of honour back then, when your 15.
