Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by Deleted on Nov 13, 2014 1:12:41 GMT 1, Had a quick flick threw some old ticket stubs. Thought I would post pics of the best gig and sporting day I've been lucky enough to see.
Seeing England win the Ashes for the first time in 17 years (ish), with a friend opening the batting for England, will never be beaten.
Watching Bjork from the front row in a tiny venue with just her and a string quartet will also be very hard to top.
How about you guys?.

Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by fattyramone on Nov 13, 2014 2:40:49 GMT 1, This is a web stolen image , but mine is somewhere in the house kicking around.
Two of my all time favorite bands on the same bill was an irresistible lure for me to travel to London to see it.
Suprisingly The Damned for me stole the show as they had become a little lack lustre over the last few years I had seen them , but this support slot made them up their game and turn out a blinder...
whereas The Ramones who I had never seen give a duff show were a bit of a disappointment for me that night , I think this was about the stage where they kinda metamorphisised into a punk/thrash outfit rather than the surf/punk sound they were always loved for.
Looking back I can't say I blame them for trying to catch the zeitgeist of the time as the more "surf-y" sound hadn't bought them the success they so richly deserved ...not really.
I will never forgive America for not recognising their own sons as the legends they were destined to become ...well not until they had more or less split up , finished and died.
Nowadays they kind of refute that and claim they always loved them...bullshit , they were too busy disco dancing or chanting "Born in the USAโ ad infinitum.
Kick it Dee Dee...wan, chew , Tree , Faw......

It had the triple whammy of an incredible atmosphere, great drama and plentiful dried squid (the mid-match snack of choice there, it seemed).

Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by balibob on Nov 13, 2014 11:11:43 GMT 1, Music - Coldplay at the Emirates a few years ago. I'm not a huge fan, but the show they put on was immense with every fan handed an electronic bracelet to wear as they arrived, and this provided a light show throughout the gig. The whole of the crowd were singing on the way out as well. The best on a purely musical note for me, any Stereophonics or Muse gig I have attended.
Sport - Dallas v The Jags at Wembley last weekend. Its a 2 day event with the players, cheerleaders, coaching staff and former players coming out to speak to the crowd on the Saturday, everyone but the players doing the same on the Sunday pregame tailgate party. The atmosphere was superb and even the play being held up for the American TV stations to cram their adverts in didn't spoil it.

Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by glutenberg on Nov 13, 2014 11:23:48 GMT 1, Prince at Madison Square Garden, NYC - Dec. 29th 2010..... utterly mind blowing experience.
I found it randomly online while checking for gigs before a Christmas trip with my wife. Was sure it would be well sold out, but unbelievably there were 2 tickets left on the US Seatwave site. It was obviously meant to be. Memories of hands in the air wailing through Purple Rain after several bottles of white wine - too cool.
Also saw Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings in Times Square on New Years Eve, a few hours after meeting Ant and Dec in a wine shop! #bonkers

Final day spent it with the Dutch fans in Soweto where Mandela lived then went to the stadium getting hammered as the day went on. Mandela appeared which was awesome perfect day at the final a life ambition

If I can recall correctly, Ginger Baker initiated a drum solo with his feet just using the two bass drums. As he put the drum sticks to one side, the recently and sadly departed Jack Bruce nodded to Eric whereupon they set their guitars to one side and 'went to the bar' to let him get on with it.

Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by Deleted on Nov 13, 2014 13:40:47 GMT 1, France v England Euro 2004 in Portugal. Great game crap result but to watch every French player just look for Zidane at any opportunity and see him in the flesh was an honour. Plus getting a call two days before the game from my friend in the F.A saying he had some tickets, trying and failing to get flights, jumping on the Eurostar renting a car and driving like lunatics to meet my friend in a deserted lay by to get the tickets to be told if anyone asked how we got tickets we were under strict instructions to mention a random competition only added to the fun. He managed to sort out more tickets for other games too and we bumped into Eusebio. Happy days

Best gig and sporting events you've been at. , by Lesson1 on Nov 13, 2014 17:33:37 GMT 1, I have many many gigs but the best would have to be Prince at the London hippodrome for an after show. He came on at around 2am and played over 3 hours to near 6am. Absolutely knackered but with a clear view just 3m away from the stage it was great in a relaxed atmosphere. Very obscure songs played with one lasting over 20mins

I watched this in the bondi pavilion hundreds of Aussies and about 5 English!! Being Welsh I didn't really want England to win but laughed when I saw these 5 English lads celebrate, the Aussies weren't happy..
From the same World Cup,Wales v all blacks was amazing game 80k people and we played really well and pushed them. Following Wales around OZ foe the world cup was fun. The British lions deciding last game in Sydney last year - amazing game, gave the Aussies a proper hiding and we had platinum seats free beers all night :)Wembley twice to watch Swansea city and being now in the premier league flew I home to watch fulham away and we won 2-1, love fulhams old ground.
So many gigs and glastonbury's to mention the raves/clubs were memorable probably because on the drugs standouts gigs were massive attack in the phoenix festival, the sun setting ,what an amazing night. Stone roses in Newport, NYE in the Milkweg club Amsterdam early 90's and a NYE party 2001 in a mansion on top of mountain in Goa overlooking the beaches, somehow we got invited there as VIP's, bizzare night, Loved Goa..
