I'd love the above, the only problem being that each room would need at least two ;-)

Harland Miller Prints, by Sliding on the Walls on Aug 15, 2016 20:34:46 GMT 1, I was once SOOOO close to buying a Miller print, but I stopped myself because I didn't want to buy into the Harland Miller brand. I couldn't justify the purchase based on his artistic creativity - it feels to me like they have become more of a status symbol for us to take filtered photographs of it in our homes and put them up on Pinterest.
If that makes me art police then fair enough, it was just a personal thing. I actually thought if I bought it I would start to resent it the more I saw HMs popularity expand.

Harland Miller Prints, by phischa on Aug 15, 2016 20:43:37 GMT 1, I don't understand his work to be honest. Apart from the question in general about art of being subjective, would someone mind to explain what it makes so desireable.

I suspect a lot of the appreciation comes from the nostalgia of seeing an old penguin book cover - perhaps long out of print - and the addition of familiar colloquialism or phrase - subverted to raise a laugh or shock the observer - for example - a familiar saying like "don't let the bastards get you down" is frequently used around these parts - this has been tweaked - in my opinion very successfully to " don't let the bastards cheer you up" and therefore completely at odds with the original sentiment - brilliant !!

That's a stunner augustg! Looks like there's quite a bit more hand finishing on that one than others.

Thank you DrWhite for the explaination. I guess you need to know penguin books to have a connection to the art work.I admit that the phrases are smart and bold. It's not my cup of tea but this is the beauty and the fascination of art.

Is this yours Trev? Is it a print or a watercolour? Either way, wowzer! Cap well and truly doffed in your direction, my friend. Lovely. Hope all is good with you by the way. Palace off to their usual start!

Having spent 10 years+ curating my own collection there have been many highs and just a few lows. Lows created by having to sell a work that on reflection I should have not let go from my grasp as I look to piece together a puzzle that will never be completed.
This is one of said pieces and I miss it more and more. That said it went to a true gent and that is my consolation.
Coach its an original painting......

Save up about 3K, then keep your ear to the ground for the next release. Then get in quickly for the first tier pricing. I know some people don't like it but these tend to tier up quite dramatically, quite quickly so it generally pays not to dilly dally!
