Brexit, by We Are The Walls on Mar 14, 2019 15:41:59 GMT 1, Looking ahead: If we carry on in this direction, Ireland would rightfully want to be "one Ireland" without a border. Scotland would want to declare independence, to be part of the larger EU market with freedom of movement.
There won't be British cabbies, it'll mostly be English cabbies, fewer passengers and the only place we'll see the Union Jack will be in the museums.
I think humanity should be coming together and one day when we look to the stars, these borders will be so trivial. We (as the human race) always need something to point our finger at though; someone (or something) will always need to be the villain.
However, this is really just a distraction, a smokescreen for something more sinister taking place ...such as the gradual loss of 'our' liberties.
Spray can in hand while using a play of satirical images, those without a voice can at least continue to speak out with using walls. I would have hoped for greater things for humanity though.
'This' chapter is like a pebble in the shoe as we walk towards a greater destiny ...an annoying distraction, but the show must go on.

Brexit, by k2 on Mar 14, 2019 15:57:54 GMT 1, Up until last night I'd managed to maintain a vague understanding of what was going on, what it all meant, and where things stood. But last night's shenanigans left me utterly baffled and I didn't really understand what was going on or what had happened, what all the different votes were about etc. Someone sent me this article which is quite amusing and well written - recommended if anyone's as confused as I was (and probably still am) - politics.co.uk/blogs/2019/03/13/may-loses-a-vote-against-herself-in-a-crazed-night-of-parlia

There is a lovely irony that Farage, after years of suggesting that we should be able to control our own destiny, is today pleading with the EU to veto a Brexit extension if that's what our parliament votes for.

To force a "no deal" Brexit I guess... Although I assume that would backfire, and it won't happen at all. They'd have to revoke Article 50 instead.

Brexit, by mojo on Mar 14, 2019 18:17:12 GMT 1, The Malthouse Compromise Plan B! Wtf?! Ugh... even more confusing shenanigans going on today. There is a lovely irony that Farage, after years of suggesting that we should be able to control our own destiny, is today pleading with the EU to veto a Brexit extension if that's what our parliament votes for. The EU Anti Tax Avoidance Directive comes into play the day after we're due to leave the EU on April fools day! This means that all offshore accounts have to legally be made public and then reviewed every 3 months. Oddly enough the politicians shouting loudest for a no deal and to leave on the 31st all have offshore accounts (which in my opinion is the only reason Brexit is happening). Perhaps a more sensible solution is to revoke article 50 without any penalty to the UK before 31st March and then to carry out a public inquiry as to why certain politicians and their party donators felt it necessary to spend billions of public money on a failed attempt to protect their hidden billions. I'm sure those that feel it is undemocratic to cancel article 50 will be able to vote for UKIP or such like in a general election once the real reason for attempting to leave the EU is made public.
On 28 January 2016 the EU presented its proposal for an Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive as part of the Anti-Tax Avoidance Package. In a speech to the House of Commons on 22 February 2016, Cameron announced a referendum date of 23 June 2016, and commented on the renegotiation settlement. On 20 June 2016 the Council adopted the Directive (EU) 2016/1164 laying down rules against tax avoidance practices that directly affect the functioning of the internal market.

I am a little bit disappointed the way its going at the moment

Why call people “remoaners” if you don’t care. Maybe they have a legitimate reason to stay in Europe.
And why does May’s deal mean we stay in Europe? It doesn’t, as far as I know.

This far down the line and people are still conflating Europe (the continent) with the EU (a failed experiment.)

Brexit, by Coach on Mar 15, 2019 1:35:32 GMT 1, Why call people “remoaners” if you don’t care. Maybe they have a legitimate reason to stay in Europe. And why does May’s deal mean we stay in Europe? It doesn’t, as far as I know. Brexiteers call remainers ‘remoaners’ and remainers call brexiteers ‘morons’. I know which one I feel is more offensive.
Supposition.

This far down the line and people are still conflating Europe (the continent) with the EU (a failed experiment.)
And people are still being pedantic
