Brexit, by Coach on Oct 12, 2019 22:11:34 GMT 1, Most attacked and maligned, but by far the best person for the job. Ill wait and see, i dont see how it is realistic to call this next election any more. There are more potential outcomes than there are make this yourself Blue Peter projects. Just got to hope common sense will prevail in the election. We know the disaster of letting BOJO the clown back in, assuming he isnt in jail or something by then. Far rage is a nutter and has no chance, lib dems, are on the way to having more tory MP's than the torys and have pitched themselves against brexit whilst simultaneously increasing the chances of Bojo tryin to slip a no deal past, so no one knows what the f**kthey are on/about at this stage. Greens, i wish, but er no. Labour want to sort out the country and rebalance things, want to see what deal they CAN get and then ask the people if that is "the will of the people" now, not 3+ years ago. Dont be so sure the result wont eventually come down to the utterly undemocratic liar, cheat and possibly fraudster that is BOJO the failed clown, or the opportunity for a better future and more control. Still think the youth vote is going to come as a real shock to some people. Just hope it isnt me! Fact is, people won’t vote for Corbyn. They’d vote Labour, but not with Corbyn at the helm. Like it or not, that’s the very simple fact of the matter.
I believe you are right.

Brexit, by Matt on Oct 12, 2019 22:20:41 GMT 1, He said he is standing as an MP in the next General Election. Personally I see the Brexit party doing very badly and would be surprised if Farage gets elected.
Farage has stood for election to the House of Commons a total of seven times.
He lost seven times.
Last time he tried he lost to a man dressed as a dolphin.
Fortunately for him he was able to become...an MEP of all things

He lost seven times.
Last time he tried he lost to a man dressed as a dolphin. Fortunately for him he was able to become...an MEP of all things Bonkers eh? Ignoring all the complexities of both Brexit and the EU for a moment, for anyone that wants to claim the EU is this nefarious and undemocratic organisation, can you think of any other organisation that would allow in a group of individuals that have actively stated how, once they're in, they'll do all they can to disrupt and undermine that very organisation? It's mental.
I mean, 'So why would you like to work with us here at Tesco?'
'Because I hate you and everything you stand for. If you hire me, I will do everything in my power to destroy your organisation from within and disrupt my family's access to unseasonal fruit and veg.'

PC has really made people get angry over nothing. French slang for Brits 'Le Roste Beufs' and the Brits call the French 'Frogs' all cos people in UK think Germans eat Sour Kraut and Sausage and French eat frogs legs and Brits eat roast beef.

Brexit, by moron on Oct 12, 2019 22:41:32 GMT 1, Stay classy, leavers. Thiss**t is another reason an election is going to be to tough to call. This basically represents the mindset of the torys and of course far rage {probably also sponsored by both, not that i know that), who really wants to vote and say they believe in thiss**t, outside of the legit racist loons. The loons will be easy fired up, but surely it will put a lot more voters off than it will turn on. Outdated, vile and unacceptable to most people these days. Horrible people boosted mainly by the loudness of their own voices. Farages ex wife is German

It's a great point. It would encourage more people to get involved and also allow people to better understand what is going on.

Same how kids here still learn about hitler and henry the shitty 8th but are not taught to coding or programming skills.
This is why south korea makes us look like dumb shits when kids are making apps at 6 years old. But at least we know about hitler right, because that still matters 80 years later

There's no longer the need for people to retain any information.
And that's going to be a huge issue in so many ways.
I think that people don't retain as much low level detail, but they have a higher level knowledge of much more areas due to being online and using applications. Google etc. is there for the low level stuff.

Internet is a big issue politically. Far to much easy manipulation to be had. If people get the basics of politics it also gives them a good idea of how manipulation and misinformation are used. Dam good life skills to have!
I dont actually remember doing Shakespeare at school, weirdly. Maybe just didnt go though.

And the skills learnt in coding apply outside computing aswell. The planning, structure and ability to break things down allows the students to work well in other areas aswell.

Not when you leave school with a gcse in hitler rather than an actual skill. its not important for a job and never will be unless you are a historian. If it wasnt learned at school, why would it be picked up elsewhere? That is one lesson in history that should be taught forever. The worst of humanity, the worst of politics and the worst of manipulation (including the rich and powerful). Not that a lot around listened, but its a lesson that should live forever.
Do people leave with a GCSE in Hitler? More likely a part of a history GCSE.
Might not matter much in a job (office politics aside) but its one hell of a lesson for humanity not to forget.
Education should teach you to think, to understand and to learn. Not just programme a robot for work.

No, not so much, outside of it just being a lesson used as part of the learning to learn process that keeps kids interested with all the twists and turns and all the educational tools it carries. Which allow people to learn how to do additional research and how to drill down into more info and uncover info not taught in the lessons. Its not easy learning to learn. Can you let me know if you are unable to understand the difference though.

Brexit, by Chris JL on Oct 13, 2019 14:15:25 GMT 1, THAT is still important! Staggeringly so. It is something you can learn in life. Not when you leave school with a gcse in hitler rather than an actual skill. its not important for a job and never will be unless you are a historian.
The future does not exist in the absence of memory. - just a fact
But the rest is part of conversation about the humanity we want

From the same theory as : Does a falling tree in the forest make a sound if there is nobody to hear it ?

You need a past state to be able to define the next state. Otherwise you just sample from a constant distribution and, there is indeed, no future - but humanity has been like that roughly until the renaissance/pre-industrial revolution period.
